I rarely write reviews, but this experience needs to be shared. Before even arriving, I received an email stating that the hotel is a strictly smoke-free property. However, on our very first day, while sitting with my family eating lunch at the pool area, we were overwhelmed by a strong marijuana smell coming from the table next to us. For a hotel that promotes itself as smoke-free, this was extremely disappointing. The bigger issue happened on our third day. There was a fire alarm going off in the hotel, but we were staying on the sixth floor and did not hear any alarm on our floor. The only reason we knew something was happening was because we received a phone call from someone we're staying with telling everyone to evacuate. If my family and I had been sleeping, we would have had no idea there was an emergency. That is a serious safety concern. When I spoke with management, I was told the alarm only sounds on certain floors due to firewalls between levels. Regardless of the explanation, fire safety should protect every guest equally. Fire travels upward, instead of an audible alarm on every floor is unacceptable. To make matters worse, management was dismissive and unhelpful. When guests were allowed back inside, we were told the fire department would contact management, but there was no clear explanation and no accountability taken. Overall, this stay was stressful and disappointing. Between the lack of enforcement of the smoke-free policy and the serious safety concerns regarding the fire alarm system, I would not feel comfortable staying here again. read more

Wow! Wow! Wow! Whenever I'm in the area, I hope to stay at this beautiful resort! This is a newer property, in the Opal collection, that boasts an all-suite property. The feel is very modern with large rooms and balconies. The rooms have kitchens, free snacks and refreshments. You can get even more amenities by upgrading your room. The resort is connected to Opal Sands (a sister resort) by a skybridge. Guests have access to both properties! You can use pools, restaurants, spas and more! The rooms are well appointed and spacious! I enjoyed the amazing spa and can't wait to return! read more

Wonderful new hotel. Quiet location to the southern endpoint of Clearwater. Rooms are comfortable, spacious, and the temperature control is perfect. Those are the reasons why I am reaching out to four stars on this one. There is no way it makes it to five, and I was even thinking about three for a few reasons. First, they seem to be short staffed. Check-in was excruciatingly slow while waiting for a single family in front of me. Yes, one family. Two other counters were completely unmanned, and the weirder thing is this was just around 4:30 PM which is close to the usual check-in time. Second, the pet fee is ridiculous. To bring a small dog, it was nearly the cost of a room in a lower-end hotel. Third, and this is nothing they can do anything about, but the beach has no service. It is a great location, but you need to cross the street, and there you have access to public setups for your day on the sand. Fourth, parking is expensive. Yeah, I get it. A tourist town. But this one still drives me when staying anywhere. read more

Stunning new resort just opened last month on Clearwater Beach. We have been excited to watch as this hotel has been built since we already love Opal Sands. They have a walk through to each other on the second floor and this is wonderful and genius. So convenient to have access to both hotels. Both have amazing water views and awesome amenities such as great restaurants and a beach side bar, refreshing pool and hot tub, & more. This is our second time spending time here. We watched the sunset from the beach bar Currents. They have a great menu full of drinks and snacks to enjoy the outdoors and the sunset. Great service with a smile throughout the hotel. They are just so sweet and welcoming. Love the lobby area with the life size plants with orchids and the coastal decor. This will def be a home away from home oasis for us every time we visit Clearwater Beach. read more

Overall we enjoyed our stay with a few small hiccups. First of all, their customer service is actually quite spectacular. We had a somewhat subpar stay based on external factors (which I'll spell out below) and I clicked 2 on a survey about our experience. I received a response asking if management could give me a call, which I said sure. They actually did call and waived our resort fees (which aren't inconsequential) for our stay because of the problems we experienced. That bumped this rating from a three to a four. We came for a Friday through Sunday staycation. We aren't really beach people so this was to see if staying at a hotel on the beach could turn us into beach people. It was actually overall a good stay and here's why. Room service: The room service food is fantastic. We got chicken tenders, pizza a burger plus an old fashioned and margarita. Both the drinks and the food were very good. The chicken tenders were some of my favorite and I'm not a huge fried food person. I kept wanting to get room service instead of eating elsewhere! The pool: You get access to both Opal Sands and Opal Sol pool. I'm used to Disney resorts where it is hard to get a chair. Here it was easy, there were a ton around. Opal Sands has a zero entry pool, which is better for young kids that can't swim. Definitely bring floaties for the younger ones because this place doesn't have life vests (like Disney). The drinks at the pool are quite good and there are enough servers walking around that you aren't waiting long. I got the spicy watermelon margarita at Opal Sol (which was delicious) and the spicy pineapple margarita at Opal Sands (less delicious, so future Christina, try another drink). Access to the beach: It's right across the street. Super easy to get to and there are chairs/umbrellas that you can rent from the city. Opal Sol does not have beach chairs/umbrellas. It's $40 a day for the cheapest option of chair/umbrella which I think is reasonable. They also have snacks on every floor and games. The hotel is new so everything is still beautiful. All the rooms have a balcony that looks over the water. The view is stunning. The problems we ran into was that the internet wasn't working Friday night and half of Saturday. I usually have to work even when on vacation so it was a bit stressful going out on the balcony and trying to connect to public wifi. When we called about it, they said they'd look into it and call us right back, but didn't follow up. The second problem was the room next to us blasted loud music throughout the day/night. We talked to the front desk about it and they sent security up a couple times, but it didn't really help. I don't think the hotel can be blamed for this, but it definitely was a detractor from our stay. Overall we did enjoy our stay here. We would come back. read more

Just returned from an amazing few days at the newest Opal property! The hotel, grounds, rooms and restaurants were all that we asked for on Spring Break. We only stayed 3 nights but would have loved to stay longer. The Opal Sol's proximity to the Sands also made these 2 a standout on the strip. Everything was within walking distance so we didn't need a rental car. We'd love to comeback someday !! read more

Very new resort and it is very clean and modern!! The decor is stunning. I went to the spa and it was very nice! There were complimentary pastries, tea, and champagne/mimosas. I will say it was a bit challenging only having 1 shower in the ladies room. I did have to wait for a bit until I could rinse off the oil from a massage. Massage was great though! I will say it's so nice because there is a rooftop pool and hot tub with a server so you can make it a whole day event! read more

Beautiful hotel and restaurant. 8 of us went for New Years Day brunch and the waiter encouraged us to use the brunch buffet, but never mentioned the price, so we decided to order from the menu. He seemed annoyed and didn't make eye contact with us when we would wave to ask for more coffee or water. Food was cold for 5 of us. They took our plates back and insisted they make us new plates. Unfortunately half the table was still eating and by the time ours came back, fresh, they were finished and we felt a bit rushed. When the food was hot, it was delicious. It's a shame that it was not hot to begin with. Will we return? Idk...although they made things right, the experience was frustrating, so I'd lean more towards a "no", if I'm being honest. Step in a pile of crap in pool. Reported they closed pool for a hour and reopened. Also had 2 pairs of shorts with a 120 dollars in them stolen and manager said she looked at vedio and never had shorts there and than changed her story when they found them. Get a tetanus shot and dont walk away from stuff at pool. Asked to see vedio of theft and orginally said didnt happen then changed story.Also had to leave pool because of bug infestion. read more

We had an amazing stay at Opal Sol. We have been going to Opal Sand yearly for over 5 years and we're excited about the opening of Opal Sol. We went during the first 2 weeks of their soft opening, and Opal did an exceptional job with this resort. Views were amazing and proximity to shops and restaurants allowed you to feel more integrated into the strip. The pools are stunning, they are heated and offer two pools that overlook the beach. There is a hidden pool in the spa area (which is not open). We did take a tour around the spa, and I'm impatiently waiting for them to open. The spa reminds me of the JW/Ritz spa, very exciting! The gym was small, but just enough for what you need. They had two peloton bikes and a peloton row!! We did not try the restaurant onsite, but enjoyed the option to walk across to Opal Sands which has our favorite- Seaguini. The rooms seemed a bit more spacious than Opal Sands and enjoyed the mini kitchen and dining area. Opal Sol seems more family friendly. It has a pantry with snacks, water filter machine (which Opal Sol, please bring the Zephyrhills water bottles to Opal Sol), pre-package ice packs, and board games. Overall, we will be back this November for another stay at Opal Sol. Can't wait to see it fully open and operating. read more

We just stayed at this hotel. It was amazing lots of towels super clean super friendly people in the evening. Someone comes by in the evening to see if you need any more towels or shampoo and gives you two little chocolates that's a nice touch. There are three pools two in the front one in the back by the spa that's open for everybody. There's also two hot tubs one in the front one in the back. There is also a Starbucks and a little mini pantry. The valet individuals are so nice and remember your name. You have a QR code receipt to get your car rather than waiting. the only thing I would be cautious about is that people fly drones from the hotel over the beach so don't walk around your room naked with the curtains open ha ha ha there was also a little bit of confusion cause we prepaid for the breakfast for two people I don't really think it's worth it. Very easy to get in and out of an easy access to the beach by multiple stairways and elevators, very handicap accessible as well. I love the snacks. There's fruit in the morning with bits of trail mix and is replenished in the evening with cookies and there's lots of pre-bagged ice to put in coolers and games. The rooms are very soundproof so you don't hear your neighbors on either side. well done opal sol!!!! you also don't have traditional key cards to enter your room. You have a wristband. read more

Enjoyed every minute staying at Opal Sol for 3 days. I will say that if you're are celebrating something just give them a reminder because I was told they would send me something for my birthday but never received it. Other than that the customer service from all the staff is extremely amazing. Everyone there is friendly and really makes you feel welcomed. The views are beautiful. The rooms are clean and housekeeping comes in the morning and then around again in the evening and brings chocolate. Our room had a beautiful view on the balcony, 2 queen beds, couch, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, and walk in shower. The lighting in the room is perfect and bright. The food and service was absolutely delicious, they have 3 restaurants inside (Drift, The Current, and Toast for breakfast). For 2 people we only spent about $60-150 per meal which isn't bad in my opinion. I do recommend making reservations ahead of time for the restaurants and the Spa. The spa was not opened yet at Sol, so we went to the Spa at Opal Sands and the service there was great I enjoyed my massage with Tammy. The bridge on the 2nd floor makes it easy to go next door and you can also eat at the restaurants and go to the pool and bar there as well. I also loved how easy it was to reserve a cabana on the beach just by charging it to your room. I saw a few people wondering if it was a hassle to get to the beach and I can assure you it was very easy literally just a 2 minute walk because there are stairs by the pool area that you can use to walk across the street. So many fun things to do in the area and other restaurants you can try as well. We walked down to the Marina (a 10 minute walk) and took a 2hr boat tour. There are about 10+ boat tours you can get on to your liking. We went on the Tropics Boat Tour and did the dolphin watching which was fun no more than $35 per person. I WILL definitely be back to Opal Sol. This resort is located in a great area that makes your vacation worthwhile. I will recommend this resort to anyone. read more
