    Skybridge between the two resorts

Wow! Wow! Wow! Whenever I'm in the area, I hope to stay at this beautiful resort! This is a newer property, in the Opal collection, that boasts an all-suite property. The feel is very modern with large rooms and balconies. The rooms have kitchens, free snacks and refreshments. You can get even more amenities by upgrading your room. The resort is connected to Opal Sands (a sister resort) by a skybridge. Guests have access to both properties! You can use pools, restaurants, spas and more! The rooms are well appointed and spacious! I enjoyed the amazing spa and can't wait to return!

Wonderful new hotel. Quiet location to the southern endpoint of Clearwater. Rooms are comfortable, spacious, and the temperature control is perfect. Those are the reasons why I am reaching out to four stars on this one. There is no way it makes it to five, and I was even thinking about three for a few reasons. First, they seem to be short staffed. Check-in was excruciatingly slow while waiting for a single family in front of me. Yes, one family. Two other counters were completely unmanned, and the weirder thing is this was just around 4:30 PM which is close to the usual check-in time. Second, the pet fee is ridiculous. To bring a small dog, it was nearly the cost of a room in a lower-end hotel. Third, and this is nothing they can do anything about, but the beach has no service. It is a great location, but you need to cross the street, and there you have access to public setups for your day on the sand. Fourth, parking is expensive. Yeah, I get it. A tourist town. But this one still drives me when staying anywhere.

Stunning new resort just opened last month on Clearwater Beach. We have been excited to watch as this hotel has been built since we already love Opal Sands. They have a walk through to each other on the second floor and this is wonderful and genius. So convenient to have access to both hotels. Both have amazing water views and awesome amenities such as great restaurants and a beach side bar, refreshing pool and hot tub, & more. This is our second time spending time here. We watched the sunset from the beach bar Currents. They have a great menu full of drinks and snacks to enjoy the outdoors and the sunset. Great service with a smile throughout the hotel. They are just so sweet and welcoming. Love the lobby area with the life size plants with orchids and the coastal decor. This will def be a home away from home oasis for us every time we visit Clearwater Beach.

Just returned from an amazing few days at the newest Opal property! The hotel, grounds, rooms and restaurants were all that we asked for on Spring Break. We only stayed 3 nights but would have loved to stay longer. The Opal Sol's proximity to the Sands also made these 2 a standout on the strip. Everything was within walking distance so we didn't need a rental car. We'd love to comeback someday !!

Beautiful hotel and restaurant. 8 of us went for New Years Day brunch and the waiter encouraged us to use the brunch buffet, but never mentioned the price, so we decided to order from the menu. He seemed annoyed and didn't make eye contact with us when we would wave to ask for more coffee or water. Food was cold for 5 of us. They took our plates back and insisted they make us new plates. Unfortunately half the table was still eating and by the time ours came back, fresh, they were finished and we felt a bit rushed. When the food was hot, it was delicious. It's a shame that it was not hot to begin with. Will we return? Idk...although they made things right, the experience was frustrating, so I'd lean more towards a "no", if I'm being honest. First impressions are everything.

We had an amazing stay at Opal Sol. We have been going to Opal Sand yearly for over 5 years and we're excited about the opening of Opal Sol. We went during the first 2 weeks of their soft opening, and Opal did an exceptional job with this resort. Views were amazing and proximity to shops and restaurants allowed you to feel more integrated into the strip. The pools are stunning, they are heated and offer two pools that overlook the beach. There is a hidden pool in the spa area (which is not open). We did take a tour around the spa, and I'm impatiently waiting for them to open. The spa reminds me of the JW/Ritz spa, very exciting! The gym was small, but just enough for what you need. They had two peloton bikes and a peloton row!! We did not try the restaurant onsite, but enjoyed the option to walk across to Opal Sands which has our favorite- Seaguini. The rooms seemed a bit more spacious than Opal Sands and enjoyed the mini kitchen and dining area. Opal Sol seems more family friendly. It has a pantry with snacks, water filter machine (which Opal Sol, please bring the Zephyrhills water bottles to Opal Sol), pre-package ice packs, and board games. Overall, we will be back this November for another stay at Opal Sol. Can't wait to see it fully open and operating.

Absolutely stunning resort. If you go stay there you'll know why. Highly recommend to everyone. They offer so many things it's hard to list. If you're staying a short time you won't get to see everything they offer

We just stayed at this hotel. It was amazing lots of towels super clean super friendly people in the evening. Someone comes by in the evening to see if you need any more towels or shampoo and gives you two little chocolates that's a nice touch. There are three pools two in the front one in the back by the spa that's open for everybody. There's also two hot tubs one in the front one in the back. There is also a Starbucks and a little mini pantry. The valet individuals are so nice and remember your name. You have a QR code receipt to get your car rather than waiting. the only thing I would be cautious about is that people fly drones from the hotel over the beach so don't walk around your room naked with the curtains open ha ha ha there was also a little bit of confusion cause we prepaid for the breakfast for two people I don't really think it's worth it. Very easy to get in and out of an easy access to the beach by multiple stairways and elevators, very handicap accessible as well. I love the snacks. There's fruit in the morning with bits of trail mix and is replenished in the evening with cookies and there's lots of pre-bagged ice to put in coolers and games. The rooms are very soundproof so you don't hear your neighbors on either side. well done opal sol!!!! you also don't have traditional key cards to enter your room. You have a wristband.

The hotel itself is beautiful and centrally located on Clearwater Beach with just a short walk across the street to the beach. We booked two suites , a 2 queen private rooftop terrace suite with a full kitchen and a poolside king suite with a kitchenette which were spacious and perfect for our large gathering. The rooftop terrace was definitely a highlight, and the hotel is within walking distance to restaurants, the pier, playgrounds, and shops. I also liked that the pool is on the 8th floor with a great view and access limited to hotel guests only. Pool chairs were very comfortable, towels were unlimited with no towel card system, and beach cabana/umbrella rentals were half off for guests. The hot tub being on the 16th floor separate from the pool didn't make much sense though. Room service was daily, and I appreciated being able to text the front desk instead of calling. I highly recommend using the text feature and keeping everything in writing because there were discrepancies regarding credits we were promised. There were unfortunately several maintenance and service issues during our stay. The living room TV constantly glitched and wouldn't sync properly even after maintenance attempted to fix it. More importantly, the AC completely stopped working in the rooftop terrace suite for hours while we hosted about 25 guests for the graduation party. Everyone was hot and sweaty in almost 100-degree indoor conditions. Thankfully the terrace breeze helped, but being offered only a $100 credit for such a major issue during a once-in-a-lifetime celebration felt insufficient! The parking garage situation was also frustrating. We were told our vehicles could enter and exit freely with the resort fee, but every time we tried leaving, the room keys and garage passes failed. We repeatedly went back to front desk to get new passes and had to pay $40 to exit then contact customer service afterward for refunds such a waste of vacation time Customer service overall was very hit or miss. Some employees were wonderful while others seemed miserable and unfriendly. The onsite coffee shop was particularly disappointing I'd recommend walking across the street from The front lobby to the real Starbucks instead. At times it felt like the hotel relies heavily on its excellent location and beach proximity rather than consistent service standards.Coming from previous stays at Sandpearl Resort, I personally would still choose Sandpearl for smaller family vacations. However, I will say this hotel offers more flexibility for large gatherings and easier garage access compared to Sandpearl's valet-only setup. That said, between the AC outage, power issues in BOTH suites floor 8 and 17, lukewarm water, TV problems, phone problems, garage charges, and inconsistent customer service, I would probably try another Clearwater Beach hotel next time. We still made wonderful graduation memories and the location, spacious suites, rooftop terrace, and beach convenience were definitely the highlights of our stay.

And not one spider or bug on that balcony the whole week we were there! Five stars just for that! All staff were very friendly, in fact I believe it was a manager that bought me and my husband drinks after we walked down 15 flights of stairs during a fire alarm. (I swear nobody else even heeded the alarm, we were the only one in the stairwell). We only ate breakfast in the main restaurant (which was good), but we did have room service a couple of times and enjoyed the rooftop bar, The Tropico, for food and drinks. (The kids menu burgers and fries was plenty for me!) All were good experiences. Hotel is in walking distance of so many restaurants, shops and of course, the pier. We only hung out on the beach one day with the loungers and cabana. I was a little disappointed that they weren't included in the stay. The cost was $30 per day. Otherwise I was content to hang out on the loungers at the pool. A store called Surf Style is just a couple of doors down that has besides clothing, your snacks, drinks and all the tourist goodies.

I celebrated my birthday at the JW Marriott Clearwater and it was easily one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was top-notch. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, with stunning design and a relaxing atmosphere that made the whole stay feel like a true getaway. There are so many amenities to enjoy, which really elevates the experience and makes it feel like a true luxury stay. The only downside for me was that there isn't a sauna, which is something I usually expect at a hotel of this level. It's a small miss, but worth noting. Overall, I couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate. I'll definitely be back!

Instead, we encountered poor communication, disorganization, and management that seemed incapable of delivering the experience their luxury rates promise. Our room wasn't ready until 8:30 p.m., leaving us waiting more than five hours. Once we finally got in, our luggage wasn't delivered as promised, the room phone didn't work, and maintenance had to make multiple trips to replace it before we could even begin to settle in. By the end of the evening, we still hadn't had a chance to unpack, shower, or relax after a full day of travel. The valet experience was equally disappointing--disorganized, unprofessional, and lacking even the most basic customer service. The mattress was also among the most uncomfortable I've ever slept on. The only employees who reflected the Marriott brand were the bartenders and the maintenance technician. Everyone else, including management, seemed indifferent to the issues we experienced. Luxury hotels command premium prices because guests expect premium service. This property delivered neither. I left frustrated, exhausted, and wondering how this hotel is allowed to carry the JW Marriott name. There are far better options in Clearwater.

This is not a safe place for my infant to sleep- the walls are plastic and there is no infant bassinet. I told them this was not acceptable and they told me they would go to their sister property and get a crib to be brought to my room. Over a half hour later a man arrived with a pack-and-play-- absolutely ridiculous, what a joke. I sent him away and again called for the manager. He told me he'd have this corrected right away. By 8:30pm there was nothing brought to us, the baby was far past his bedtime and inconsolable so it was clear we needed to leave and go home for the comfort, health, and safety of our child; thankfully we live in Tampa and were not visiting out of state. The Manager Gergi tried to convince us to stay but could not tell me how long it would be until we could get a crib- saying he'd have to go check the other property and have it sent up and it was already an hour past my last request--which again, was one of FIVE TIMES I previously requested a crib.  Even after all of this- the hotel is trying to charge me! When we left, Gergi told me to call AMEX and request a refund and he'd "approve it all". I was annoyed that I again would have to do work on their behalf (they really couldn't call AMEX? how is this a 4 star hotel) but he also did not mention we would be charged any fee- he apologized over and over saying he understood why we were upset and leaving, which I logically understood meant he'd take care of ANY bill/fees after cancelling with AMEX because of this extreme inconvenience and literally ruining our weekend getaway trip for our anniversary (they knew about my anniversary and congratulated us in the email reply). When I called AMEX, they told me he is insisting on charging me a cancellation fee for the night because it is "hotel policy". The thing about a hotel policy is that it is made up BY THE HOTEL and they can choose not to enforce it- there is no law for this fee. If anything I should request reimbursement for gas and incidentals purchased for this trip, this was my infant's first time to the beach and this memory is now tarnished. What pathetic service on such a simple request. The most basic fundamental thing a hotel is supposed to provide is a clean and safe place for its customers to sleep- they couldn't even do that but I'm supposed to pay? The hotel materially failed to provide the accommodations I relied upon when booking, therefore I opened a case with AMEX to refuse any and all charges and will escalate further if necessary.

There was just too many things that left us disappointed on our first trip here. There are 2 EV charging spots which was a lifesaver this trip and being a trolley stop was absolutely amazing for getting over the bridge into Clearwater Beach stress free. We saw pictures of a tennis and pickleball court online but those have been demolished and replaced by a grassy area :(. Thankfully sand bay tennis park is less than a mile away and the trolley does stop there. 3 volleyball courts which were great and sunsets 10/10! The Easter Egg hunt was a fun and unexpected treat for the kids :) well organized. I checked in early on the app, knowing it was a holiday weekend and there may not be rooms available early. We were able to pick up wristbands right away but we later found out these were not watched or enforced anywhere. In fact, you do not even need a key to enter the building from the pool/beach. I believe this added to the insane crowding at the pool. Could not find a pool chair at ALL - very stressful and had to set our belongings on the ground in order to swim. They could not keep up with the towels either and by 3-4PM, you could not get one at all. The pool bar had short hours and the line was insanely long every day. The pool bar shared the same line as ordering the food truck food which added to that chaos as well. On Friday the food truck shut down early as well. There was one water dispenser in the lobby but it was always empty. I felt like a bother asking the mainstay tavern for water. The food there was very good and we ordered to go. The gym was amazing 10/10. The beds were AWFUL 0/10 they are on a platform with absolute no give at all - ROCK hard!!! Had to walk across the street to the other Marriott location to get espresso coffee. The extra charges are too much - says $30/night to park but after taxes and fees it is $35 a night and $25 a night for the resort fee which doesn't cover anything but bikes as the trolley is already free. It is $45 to rent 2 chairs and an umbrella at the beach. The resort fee should offset this cost!!!!! The location is amazing but these extra charges are just too much and our stay left a lot to be desired. I also had a fraud charge immediately following paying for parking even though I used the QR code at the front desk and have not used that credit card for any other purchases - I wish this was charged directly through the hotel instead. It is not gated.
