If you plan to go somewhere, leave towels and they will know you're coming back. We went somewhere for a late breakfast/lunch so it was nice to come back to our spot. Also you can pick up your towels in the gazebo on the beach across from the hotel. They provide complimentary champagne upon arrival but we didn't partake after a long day including an NFL game. They have a Starbucks on floor 2 that comes in handy with snacks, coffee drinks, etc. Our room was lovely and very big compared to other hotels we've been to. The balcony had 2 chairs and a table and the tv was bigger than any hotel room I've ever been in. Bed and pillows were comfy. We had complimentary bottled water in our room each day cause we were members of the hotel service. That was a nice bonus. Bathroom was lovely but the only real inconvenience was the water had a hard time draining in our shower cause the shower floor wasn't angled towards the drain. We spent some part of our afternoon in the pool area. The water was quite cold but it's a lovely area. They play a mix of music...lots of Disney tunes. The bar area is nice to be able to get a drink and relax in the chairs. It wasn't very busy when we were there. The staff at the front are very nice and helpful. I also loved that we were walking distance to lots of bars and restaurants. We highly recommend Coco's, Bait House Tackle & Tavern, and Salt Cracker Fish Camp.

Our room was pretty clean when we checked in. This review is just mainly about the check in. I'm not sure if the lady that checked us in was new, but when we checked in, she didn't tell us anything. She actually looked mad we checked in. She didn't even give us the paper that other guests received that gave them information about the hotel and what perks there were. I went to the front desk to check out, and that's when I saw the paper and grabbed it. I didn't realize they had welcome drinks because the lady that checked us in, didn't even give us that. When we checked in, we never knew we could've got a discount for beach chairs and umbrellas because the lady didn't give us the paper. We had to go down to the beach and asked, and that's how we found out. We didn't even know we can get discount for self parking, but luckily, my husband asked about parking. That's when she provided the information. I never knew we had 4 water bottles per day because the paper was never given to us. Never knew about daily pool snacks. In all, I didn't have a bad experience and I NEVER write bad reviews, but the check in was horrible. Lady was NOT nice at all.

Unfortunately, our four-night stay was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we've had. The biggest issue was the condition of the room. We have photos documenting what we found. The shower had visible mold when we checked in, and despite daily housekeeping, it was never cleaned during our entire stay. The room itself felt dirty, and the towels had a foul odor, almost as if they had been washed in rancid water. The room was also in poor repair. Most of the electrical outlets were so loose that plugs would not stay in them. We couldn't use a hair dryer, curling iron, or even reliably charge our phones because the plugs would simply fall out. We ended up buying an extension cord so we could run power from the bathroom outlet. There were no functioning towel bars, and the wall hooks that were supposed to hold towels repeatedly fell off the wall. Housekeeping was inconsistent at best. On Tuesday we had to ask for bath towels. On Wednesday we had no washcloths. We asked a housekeeper, then the front desk, and finally called the hotel after waiting. Each time we were told someone would bring them "right up," but they never arrived. We eventually had to use hand towels as washcloths. That same day, housekeeping only made the beds and emptied the trash. The room was not actually cleaned. The room itself was far too small for two queen beds. It felt as though two beds had been squeezed into a room designed for one. The mattresses were lumpy and uncomfortable and felt much smaller than standard queen beds. Had the room been clean, well maintained, and comfortable, I honestly would have overlooked many of the other frustrations. Unfortunately, when the basics of cleanliness and comfort aren't met, everything else becomes much harder to ignore. The beach was the reason we chose this hotel, and while the beach itself is beautiful, the setup was disappointing. Guests are not permitted to bring their own beach chairs and must rent the hotel's. The first two rows closest to the water were occupied by blue cabanas renting for approximately $251 per day. We rented reclining chairs for about $60 per day, yet they were placed in the back row, far from the water, while many of the premium cabanas remained empty. The rows of orange traffic cones surrounding the cabana area also took away from the natural beauty of the beach. The hotel's location is excellent, and direct access to Clearwater Beach is its greatest asset. However, a great location cannot make up for mold, poor housekeeping, maintenance problems, uncomfortable beds, and a room that simply wasn't clean. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe future guests deserve an honest picture of our experience. Based on our stay, I would not return or recommend this property.

The top-tier, like this one, is only 30,000 a night which is a steal compared to the price you would pay to stay here. I would highly recommend redeeming all your points to stay at this location. This hotel is right on the beach. I mean, you do have to cross a road to get to the beach, but there's nothing that obstructs your view if you have a gulf facing room. At first, I was kind of disappointed that we didn't have a full gulf facing view, we had a partial gulf view. I did think to myself that it would be worth it in the future to upgrade to a gulf view. It must be super popular because when I looked on the website to see if there were any more gulf views available, there weren't. However, the one benefit of having a partial gulf view, which means we faced the pool that looks diagonally at the water, is when it pours your balcony doesn't get wet. And man on our last day, did the weather turn and it rained hard. It was actually quite nice to sit on the balcony and watch the rain. Everybody we came into contact here was super friendly. From the bar staff to check in, we never met anyone that wasn't nice. The general manager at this resort is also a gem. I mentioned that we were celebrating a special occasion, and he had a gift basket sent to our room. That definitely made a huge difference, especially since we have been staying at different hotels along the beach, little touches like that really solidified that this is our new favorite. The pool is on the smaller side, but there are tons of chairs so it looks like even if you don't get a chair in a prime location there are ones always available. This seems to be more of an adult resort, the vibes were on the elevated partying side. That's not to say we didn't see kids, because we definitely did, but we saw a lot less children than we have at other resorts (like at the JW). The room itself was beautiful, it was clean and nicely decorated. Like I said, I love the balcony and the view. It felt spacious. The resort also puts on some activities like yoga, sunset coffee and sweets, and it played the sandlot one evening outside at the pool. I appreciate that they put all these different activities. This resort is close to everything so I would highly recommended if you were looking for a Clearwater Beach resort.

PROS; -Walkable to just about everything! We didn't rent a car for our trip so it was perfect to be able to access nearby restaurants, shops, and more all on foot. -The pool deck is very large, well kept, and very well staffed. Tons of lounge chairs and umbrellas. Everyone working there was so dang nice! You can receive pool-side service for food & drink, or head up to the attached bar to grab what you need. Definitely a little on the pricey side, but a lot of good options. -We booked a one-bedroom suite and it was delightful! Sooo spacious, likely more than we needed. It was super clean and modern. Very nice, updated bathrooms and walk-in glass showers. Our patio was also huge, providing beautiful views of the Mandalay Channel. Beds were comfy, and they even so kindly provided us with a cot/crib for our youngest. Hugee for parents - that was super appreciated! -Literally every single person working there that we interacted with was beyond sweet! Five-star service and friendliness from all staff. CONS: -Little to no cleaning service in the room (unless requested??). Maybe I missed how this works, but it was a little of a bummer having overflowing trash cans and dirty dishes we weren't sure what to otherwise do with. They were very quick to bring fresh towels upon request, however! -Given the size of our suite, we would have loved to have a few extra usable items in the kitchen area, like any kind of napkins/paper towels, silverware, and soap do to a little washing up. Surely don't expect it to be fully stocked with appliances and plateware, but it seemed a little odd how big it was with truly nothing to use it for. Instead, we encountered poor communication, disorganization, and management that seemed incapable of delivering the experience their luxury rates promise. Our room wasn't ready until 8:30 p.m., leaving us waiting more than five hours. Once we finally got in, our luggage wasn't delivered as promised, the room phone didn't work, and maintenance had to make multiple trips to replace it before we could even begin to settle in. By the end of the evening, we still hadn't had a chance to unpack, shower, or relax after a full day of travel. The valet experience was equally disappointing--disorganized, unprofessional, and lacking even the most basic customer service. The mattress was also among the most uncomfortable I've ever slept on. The only employees who reflected the Marriott brand were the bartenders and the maintenance technician. Everyone else, including management, seemed indifferent to the issues we experienced. Luxury hotels command premium prices because guests expect premium service. This property delivered neither. I left frustrated, exhausted, and wondering how this hotel is allowed to carry the JW Marriott name. There are far better options in Clearwater.

The breakfast is basic, but adequate. The only complaint being turkey sausage that was too unsightly to try (not a fan of white sausage) and bacon the next morning that tasted like liquid smoke. The parking garage had plenty of space but many spaces were very tight and the turns are tight for a full sized pickup. The pool area is great and the beach is also.

The beach was beautiful, with calm, warm water and soft, powdery sand. Even when the resort became very busy over Labor Day weekend, it still maintained a relaxing, family-friendly atmosphere. The staff was truly the highlight of our experience. A huge thank you to Braxton, Albin, Joel, Dragen, Izzy, Alyssa, Elaine, Josh, Katie, Eddie, Briana, Shannon, Jessica, Eden, Hailey, Rafael, Robert, and Garrett for being so friendly, helpful, and attentive. They genuinely made us feel welcomed and went above and beyond to make our stay special. Dining & Spa: We enjoyed the service at Tate's and Caretta, especially Eddie, Briana, and Katie. We also loved exploring local restaurants, with Clear Sky Café, Cesare at the Beach, and Columbia being some of our favorites. Robert at Cesare and Columbia was especially fantastic. The spa was another highlight, particularly the prenatal massage experience with Shannon and the couples massages we enjoyed with Jessica. The staff was wonderful and the spa was relaxing and intimate. There were, however, some disappointing aspects. Housekeeping was inconsistent, and there were several issues with the room, including the refrigerator placement, small safe, and shower door. We also felt the beach umbrellas should be included rather than an additional charge. Our biggest frustration was with the front desk and check-out process, particularly how some of our concerns and billing issues were initially handled. It took far too long to get everything sorted out, which was frustrating, especially at the end of an otherwise enjoyable stay. That said, I spoke directly with the General Manager about our experience, and I really appreciated how quickly he responded to my complaint and stepped in to help address the overall issue. His willingness to listen and make things right made a significant difference. Despite the areas that need improvement, we truly enjoyed our stay and are grateful we chose Sandpearl for such a special milestone. The resort has a beautiful setting and an incredible number of genuinely wonderful employees. With some improvements to housekeeping, front-desk communication, and overall service recovery, I believe Sandpearl has everything it needs to be an exceptional resort. There is private beach access, beach chairs without an umbrella are free for the guests to use. This is probably the best hotel I have stayed at in Clearwater Beach so far and it would be very hard to go anywhere else.

I love luxury resorts on the beach and Opal sands checked off all my expectations…read more Last month , I decided to book a 5 day, 4 night stay at this resort with my daughter and we did not want to leave. Located on the beach in Clearwater, this resort has amazing views of the cotton candy sunsets , a spa , fine dining restaurants and a great outdoor pool and tiki bar that we visited daily for lunch. I booked a spa appointment for the Grounded Serenity ( about $325 for 120 minutes ) which was a perfect way to end my stay at the resort. The spa is on sight and you can book your services in advance or while staying at the resort. Go online as they have so many options that are fabulous. Valet parking is around $40 a night and there is a daily resort fee added to the stay. Rooms range from about $289-400 a night depending on time of year and suite selected. I've stayed at other resorts and hotel brands in Clearwater and I must say, this was worth every dollar spent. I look forward to more stays at this Resort for sure.

3.5/5 Stars - Nice Location, But Service Fell Short…read more I stayed at Opal Sands Resort from Friday through Sunday, and while it was a nice weekend getaway, the experience didn't quite live up to the price or the expectations. Check-In: The check-in experience wasn't the warmest. The front desk associate was polite, but the interaction felt very transactional, more like, "Here's your key, hand me your credit card, have a great day," rather than making us feel welcomed to the resort. Room: Our Gulf View room on the 5th floor overlooking the pool was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was quiet for the most part. Occasionally, you could hear music from the pool area, but it wasn't disruptive. Pool: The pool itself was great. The water temperature was perfect, and we had no trouble finding chairs both times we used it. The music wasn't really our style, so I brought a small speaker and played my own without any issues. Unfortunately, the pool service left a lot to be desired. Getting a server's attention felt like a mission. I ordered a piña colada, which tasted good--especially whatever they put around the rim, but it barely seemed to contain any alcohol. The same happened with a whiskey and club soda; it tasted almost entirely like club soda with just a splash of whiskey. For the prices they charge, I expected much better. Beach: On our second day, we decided to spend time on the beach. The day before, we had asked how the cabanas and umbrellas worked and were told everything was first come, first served. Based on that information, we assumed they were included with the resort stay. We grabbed towels from the pool, found an open cabana, and about 20 minutes later an employee informed us there was a $50 charge to use it. We had no issue paying the fee, but the lack of communication from the front desk and other staff was frustrating. Better communication would have prevented the confusion. Food: I had breakfast at the restaurant on the first floor. The food was decent but nothing memorable or worth going out of your way for. Overall: For the price, I expected a higher level of service and better communication from the staff. The property itself is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable, and the location is excellent, but the service and food and beverage experience brought the overall rating down. Overall Rating: 3.5/5 Would I stay here again? Probably not. Next time I'd be more interested in trying the hotel next door, The Sol, which looked beautifully decorated and has two pools instead of one. Hopefully the overall guest experience is better.

The beach staff Moe, Wes and Austin were awesome and super friendly.. good food at the food truck too.. we had an amazing time and can't thank the staff enough.. amazing job from start to end of our trip.. thanks All!! We will be back !!

Wish I could give it 3.5 stars. We really wanted direct beach access which was the absolute best…read morepart, especially with the free golf cart rides to get down to the beach. There was just too many things that left us disappointed on our first trip here. There are 2 EV charging spots which was a lifesaver this trip and being a trolley stop was absolutely amazing for getting over the bridge into Clearwater Beach stress free. We saw pictures of a tennis and pickleball court online but those have been demolished and replaced by a grassy area :(. Thankfully sand bay tennis park is less than a mile away and the trolley does stop there. 3 volleyball courts which were great and sunsets 10/10! The Easter Egg hunt was a fun and unexpected treat for the kids :) well organized. I checked in early on the app, knowing it was a holiday weekend and there may not be rooms available early. We were able to pick up wristbands right away but we later found out these were not watched or enforced anywhere. In fact, you do not even need a key to enter the building from the pool/beach. I believe this added to the insane crowding at the pool. Could not find a pool chair at ALL - very stressful and had to set our belongings on the ground in order to swim. They could not keep up with the towels either and by 3-4PM, you could not get one at all. The pool bar had short hours and the line was insanely long every day. The pool bar shared the same line as ordering the food truck food which added to that chaos as well. On Friday the food truck shut down early as well. There was one water dispenser in the lobby but it was always empty. I felt like a bother asking the mainstay tavern for water. The food there was very good and we ordered to go. The gym was amazing 10/10. The beds were AWFUL 0/10 they are on a platform with absolute no give at all - ROCK hard!!! Had to walk across the street to the other Marriott location to get espresso coffee. The extra charges are too much - says $30/night to park but after taxes and fees it is $35 a night and $25 a night for the resort fee which doesn't cover anything but bikes as the trolley is already free. It is $45 to rent 2 chairs and an umbrella at the beach. The resort fee should offset this cost!!!!! The location is amazing but these extra charges are just too much and our stay left a lot to be desired. I also had a fraud charge immediately following paying for parking even though I used the QR code at the front desk and have not used that credit card for any other purchases - I wish this was charged directly through the hotel instead. It is not gated.

The honeypot asked what excursions I wanted to do and since it was just a quick 4 day - 3 night trip I decided to just do spa day, jet skis, and beach day. He picked Clearwater Marriott because of the view, spa, and jet skis close by. Phenomenal pick! The room appeared to be a suite. It had a nice living room area with a wet bar. Loved that they gave us cookies and milk during our stay! Super cute! The restroom was nice and the closet was spacious! The balcony and that water view though! It was the highlight of my trip. The honeypot asked if I wanted to stay at JW Marriott or the Marriott Resort and raved about the Marriott over JW so I took his lead. The view was magnificent! I saw dolphins jumping in and out the water every morning. I saw sharks and stingrays all from the balcony. I was literally like a child in awe. The staff were great, they ran this resort like a JW or a Ritz and gave us water for the car, opened doors, and honestly I hadn't expected that level of service but yes, we got it here! The bed was very comfortable. The lounge, the pool, I mean nothing was subpar! Honestly this might have to be a yearly vacay! Thanks Marriott for a wonderful long weekend getaway!

This time was to celebrate my fiancés birthday. The staff were super nice and helpful when we walked in, we made our way to the car Jet-ski rental portion of the hotel and the views are amazing. I loved that they have the rock waterfall at the pool as well as an option to use the cabanas. Everything felt super relaxing looking out on the ocean. I would definitely recommend a trip to this resort. Perfect for families!!!!
