We had an email to review this place but it immediately said it was too late to write a review(?)). That was typical of our stay. First of all, we want to say the staff was kind and accommodating. Our original room was a dungeon and they "upgraded " us at no charge. They really wanted to make sure we were taken care of and we greatly appreciate that! The pictures were a bit deceptive. Seemed like it was more than what they were. Room was good. Small, but adequate pool. They had a number of ice machines, which really helped. When we got there, one stairway to the upper floors was taped off for days. The elevator on our floor was out of service a number of the days including the day we left so we had to lug our luggage down the stairs. At 68 and though I am in great shape, it was really difficult. We would probably pass the next time we come. read more

We can't give a zero star but this place is a major dump! We complained from day one about how things were dirty and disgusting. We eventually made a Walmart order to make it worth staying. It will be our last time staying here. We come twice a year every year. I pray Opal Sands buys this place and levels it. Please don't stay here. We went down to the front desk and asked multiple times to have the top of the refrigerator and lights cleaned, and all the front desk done was feed us a lie! Will never come back!!!!!! I'll start off with the positive things we enjoyed about our stay at Pelican Pointe. 1. Location - 5 stars!!! The location of this hotel is its biggest selling point! It is within walking distance of the beach and several different restaurants. It's about a 10 minute walk from the pier and 5 minutes to the beach. 2. The Pool - Our kids loved the pool and we enjoyed it too after coming back from the beach! There were lots of floats and pool toys for everyone to enjoy and they had tables with chairs and umbrellas. Now the not so great: 1. Overall condition - this hotel is in desperate need of some updates and renovations. Our room was pretty bad and the bathroom just disgusting. The shower head and tiles had mold all over. The tub was rusting and it appeared as if they just painted over it to try and disguise it. The vending machines looked like they on their last leg as we and there was only one ice machine that we saw which was on the first floor. We were on the 4th floor so it was quite a hike. 2. The hospitality - this one is rough as we had a negative experience followed by a positive one. We arrived for check-in at 2:51pm and check-in is at 3. I understand we were slightly early, however, not by anything significant. We were told they were not prepared for an early check in and literally made us stand there for 9 minutes and then let us go to our room. On the other hand, when we checked out, we were waiting for our ride to the airport to arrive. My daughter was hot and asked for some water. I went into the office to look for some and didn't see any. It appeared the manager was in the lobby and noticed me looking around. He asked what I needed and then had one of their employees go grab 2 bottles of water for us. I thought that was very kind of him. Overall, if you are looking for a cheap place to stay on vacation and don't care about the conditions of the hotel, stay here. If you are looking for something a little cleaner, I would stay elsewhere. read more

Clearwater Beach is dotted with big and small hotels! We were coming for a long weekend so we weren't interested in getting anything too upscale since we were going to be cruising the sights most of the time! We found the perfect spot with Pelican Pointe! It was smack in the middle of the beachwalk and the rate was great (less than $150 a night, we stayed 3 nights). We were there in October, so prices may vary depending on the season, but it was still gorgeous weather and people were sunbathing and swimming in their pool! There's one parking spot per guest, check in was a breeze and the clerk was informative. She gave us our WiFi password, maps, and brochures of the area which included coupons! The hotel was situated next door to a super fun restaurant, Salty's, which had really good food and on the other side, a nifty ice cream shop with tasty treats! Score! The hotel itself was painted in bright, fiesta type colors which added to its beachy charm. I liked that it wasn't a high rise, just 4 floors with water front balconies overlooking the pool and the gulf. Check out the stairwell with some cool beach scenes painted on the walls! Inside, the room was appointed with typical beach décor and bright colors, turquoise, yellow, salmon. We got 2 doubles and the room came with a futon as well. Our room had a sizable wardrobe equipped with an ironing board and iron, which we used, extra linen for the futon, and two luggage racks. There were 2 TVs, one was mounted on the wall in front of the futon, the other above the dresser in the bedroom. There was a small kitchenette, stocked with utensils, dishware, mini fridge, coffee pot & a selection of java plus a little dinette table by the window. The bathroom had plenty of towels and more pool towels in a basket under the vanity, and a hair dryer on the wall. It was like a cute studio apartment. All and all, it was a comfortable, clean space for a short stay. Here's what can improve: While the towels were plentiful, they felt like sandpaper. I know we were by a sandy beach, but come on... a layer of my skin came off! The bed linens were dated and faded, they looked like old Target styles, and while I love Target, these were just border line Goodwill donations. For such a cute hotel, get some updated fun and cozy comforters! While the iron was new and worked great, the hair dryer was disappointing. It barely blew hot air and ancient. Needs to be replaced (or bring your own). The soap dispensers, while convenient for the hotel, not so convenient for the guests. The liquid shower wash and shampoos weren't sudsy and didn't dispense well. No bar soap by the sink. We ended going to a convenience store and buying soap and other cleansers. (I did appreciate the make up remover towelettes provided though!) It was dim in there, more lighting would be great! Despite the things that could be better, this was a relaxing, average hotel experience. If I ever came back to Clearwater, I'd consider staying here again especially for the good prices. Compared to other hotels in the area, it's probably a 3 star. But for hotels of this caliber, I'm giving it a 4, hoping that with a couple of upgrades, it will be on "pointe"! read more

Pleasantly surprised with my room. Staff are excellent, the room and grounds are very clean. I had a late check in due to flight delays and the staff made it super easy to get in with the use of lock boxes at the front door. Get a room with a pool view! Otherwise you'll be looking at a massive construction site next door. The noise didn't bother me because I was gone from the room all day anyway. My pool facing room also provided a glimpse of the bay. Short walk around another resort across the street to get to the public south Clearwater beach. I'll stay here again if I make it back to Clearwater! read more

It's not Uber fancy but who stays in their room a lot on vacation at the beach? Saltwater pool was awesome. Staff was awesome too! I damaged my rental car my first day here and they helped me in every way and let me use office equipment to fax reports to insurance. We got the 2 queen suite and it had a futon as well. Could sleep 6 easily Only con: they need to update their baseboards as they show signs of wear and the tub needed a good scrubbing. This will be our go to Hotel for all vacations read more

It did the trick. Decent price, across the street from the beach. The pool is tiny, but you have a nice big ocean nearby. There is a half room divider that separates the living room area from your bed which can be a good thing depending on whom you are staying with. It is now 12:32 in a Wednesday. I just checked out of this place. I left my car there to eat lunch before leaving the island. When I came back to the nearly empty parking lot, I found my car vandalized by the staff with orange flyers and tape saying I was going to be towed. The tape damaged my paint. I pulled it all off and headed for the office but decided that would not go well so I just left. I am sorry I didnt take a picture of it so you could see how they treat their guests. Our room was clean and cozy. We were close to the beach. I loved the separate living room and bedroom area. The ac worked great. I love the new colors of paint in the rooms. I also liked having the area to sit outside. It was walking distance to whatever we needed. Ping pong table was missing the net. The bathroom fan wasn't so good so when taking a shower it would get very humid in the room. However, it is right across from the beach and it was clean! We would stay here again. read more

You really cannot beat the location! It is 1/2 block from the beach and within walking distance of everything. We did not have nor need a car. The price was a nice value for location, room especially during college Spring Break. My biggest issue is that when you reserve you see photos of each "actual" room. I specifically chose #326 because it had a full size refrigerator for a week long stay. Well it only had one of those tiny ones which was very disappointing. Those same pix are still listed for that room. The toaster worked for a bagel on day one and then died and was not replaced. The room was otherwise fine: clean and quiet. read more

Amazing!!! I was here for a teachers conference in Tampa. One of my colleagues book us in a scary unsafe area and we canceled that and were then desperately searching for a nice hotel that we could walk to the beach, shops and dinning from. This was a Friday evening and we were having zero luck finding any vacancies. I stumbled across this place and spoke with the kindest man Devon. When he said he had an opening we literally cried with joy and relief. He even gave us a teachers discount and all the local tips. Such a wonderful experience! Staff is nice , but hotel beds are for single person. Double beds not good for two average sized adults. Very uncomfortable and could not stay the second night. Apparently we waited to long to get a refund or credit for second night. You might want to get a queen or king. Rooms with double beds needs update to one person. Came to the area for business, stayed at Pelican Pointe based on price and prior yelp reviews. There were some kids partying in the room next to me, not really a big deal or unexpected for the area but the noise transference between the rooms was horrible. I could hear everything they were doing and saying. I get it, I've been there too having a good time on vacation. I figure I'll just see if the hotel management can help me come up with a solution. I asked to switch rooms and there were none others available. No problem, I'll just check out early and relocate to a different hotel. The front desk woman called the manager who refused to refund my last 2 nights in the hotel because the noisy neighbors were "checking out tomorrow" and I could have the security guard go deal with the problem when he got on shift at 11pm. Very poor customer service, I was unable to use my room for anything really that day, and ended up checking out early anyways without the refund. read more

This instantly became one of my favorite hotels ever, and I travel quite a bit for work (usually staying in Marriott hotels). The Pelican is... home. It has personality. There aren't cavernous marble lobbies or shiny chrome accents or rooftop bars here, but it is clean and feels like like you just stepped into your good friend's studio apartment if your friend was a neat freak. They really go the extra mile for their guests here, and there are a lot of little touches that let you know you are welcome and appreciated. And the location can't be beat (neither than the price). Cute little beach motel directly across from Opal Sands Resort. Right along the strip with a ton of restaurants, bars & most importantly the beach! The beach is exactly 250 steps away from the check in desk of the hotel as they will tell you when you check in! The rooms are all newly renovated, the pool is heated, the rooms have STRONG air conditioning, a microwave, a small kitchen sink, a mini fridge, a comfy futon, a bed(or 2), a flat screen, & a small table to eat meals/play cards/etc. Each room also has a table and chairs outside to relax outside in the warm Florida weather! This motel is in the PERFECT location. My boyfriend and I did not have a car at all for our 4 day stay. Everything we needed/wanted was within a 1.5 walking distance. Any restaurant you could think of, liquor stores, souvenir shops, even a McDonalds! Be sure to check out the back of SurfStyle for a grocery store with everything you could possibly need ( a five min walk across from the beach ) & Pier 60 at night for a art show of vendors who present their handmade art for sale ! Great hotel for the price. We booked this hotel as a part of a package and were surprised how clean and cozy it was. The building is painted with very nice combination of soft colors inside and out - not usual white walls in the rooms. Front desk lady was very polite and professional and even let us to leave our bags behind the counter since we arrived before checking in time (which is at 3pm). She explained the hotel policy and even mentioned that we can get 10% discount at a restaurant next door. The room itself was very clean and cozy. We got one queen bed room which also had a sofa when opened transforms to an extra bed. The room was divided into 2 separate spaces by a semi wall which makes the spaces a bit private. There are microwave, toaster, small coffee machine, mini fridge, set of plates, glasses and silverware plus a separate sink to wash the dishes. In the bathroom they use dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and hand soup. And they do have beach towels in the rooms if you don't have your own. I really enjoyed staying in this hotel. If you are on a budget, it's a great option. I forgot to mention - the hotel is 1 min away from the beach and is very quiet after 10pm. read more

Stayed here a year ago before I had yelp. Planning another weekend stay in Clearwater Beach this month. Going to be booking our stay at Pelican Pointe again. Cute beachy decor in the rooms. kitchenette, small living area with dining table. Flat screen mounted tv in room. Across the street from the beach, short walk to as club with Tiki bar right on the water. Outdoor pool situated so that every room has a view of the pool and the ocean. Two thumbs up. Excellent value! We stayed here four nights in December and it was less than $80 per night plus taxes. Location is half a block south of the south end of the beach walk. So it is half a block south and across the street from the beach. Close enough to walk to the beach with small kids. It was apparently renovated a couple of years ago and they seem to have done a very solid job. Nice new TV and AC. I was also impressed by the fact that there seemed to be a maintenance staff constantly working to keep things clean around the pool area. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful too. Good, free Wi-Fi too! I would definitely come back here on my next visit to Clearwater Beach! read more

Please see my previous reviews on this place, but this is the best place to stay on Clearwater Beach. They put an expensive hotel across the street. if I had the choice, I would still stay at the Pelican Pointe. It is a great hotel, with great staff at a great price. Pretty decent place for the pricing. It's right on the beach and beats the heck on pricing compared to their big name competitors. They've got a decent sized poop that's heated and gated, along with an ample amount of Parking. The property is within nice walking distance to the beach access. Each room has a nice kitchenette and fouton along with the standard twin bed. There's a nice sized drawing area too, so the rooms are plenty big. The only downside would be the housekeeping could be better, but for the price it's worth it. read more

This was my families first time here and we have fallen in love. We stayed in the a double suite which was spacious, clean and well appointed. It even had shower gel dispensers in the shower. The room was clean, the beds comfortable and the kitchenette had everything we needed. The staff is very friendly and helpful and you can't beat it's location for the price...one block to the beach. We will be back year after year. What a value and staying here had a lot more heart than a big chain hotel. Felt like family. read more

We stayed here from 11/05/14 thru 11/16/14. The location is perfect, the hotel has 6 floors, has a small swimming pool, I'd call it a family swimming pool. Great for kids, not big enough for laps, it deepest is 9ft, warm tho. They also have parking which is complimentary for guests. The hotel in general is very affordable. My only complains and the reason why I don't give it 5 stars is because 1) there was construction the whole damnnn time we were there, wish we were told ahead of time. The whole idea of this trip was to relax and take it easy, didn't end up being like that due to the noise of the construction in the morning, but the beach made it up tho, looked like they were replacing their windows or something. 2) we were on the second floor and it was very annoying hearing people upstairs walking every time. I think their floors are not concreted floors therefore you can hear people upstairs a bit. On the other hand, the room had the most important amenities, tv, desk, couch, microwave, fridge, nice bathroom, lamps near the bed, plenty of closet space, etc, but one thing that kinda gave me goosebumps was that the coffee cream and sugar were wayyyy expired, the coffee cream was crystalized lol. You'd check that out first if you're a coffee drinker like me. The housekeeping lady took care of us very well (room 214), she cleaned our room very nice every time, and she was very friendly The FD personnel was as well very nice. Would I recommend this hotel? Yes; very affordable, centrally located, the beach is literally right next to you, there're a bunch of things to do, mini golf, the beach, tours. They also have partnerships with restaurants in the area; I'd recommend you to ask at the FD if you can get a discount at any restaurant because of mentioning the hotel's name. I loved that 10% off discount at the place we went to. Will I stay here again? Yes, I'll give it a second try, but I'll ask for a top floor for sure haha. Thanks read more

After a 5 day stay we were very pleased! The hotel is reasonably priced and is in a prime location (we did not rent a car and only used lyft to get to the airport and back). It was our first time in Clearwater and although the hotel looks to be old the rooms are beautifully remodeled and have all the essentials. For 2 the room was very spacious and we loved the sitting area along with a small kitchen table. We absolutely LOVED the half wall separating that area and the bed as it was perfect for setting our items on. We did not use the pool much as the beach is literally a 2 minutes walk (as is almost everything you may need) but we went night swimming once and it was very relaxing and refreshing. Can't wait to visit Clearwater again and stay at this same location! read more

We stayed here for our birthdays.. I'll start off positive..great location! Now negative...Ewwww old run down dirty rooms! I opened kitchenette window and a bum was living below in between building! Kids who weren't staying there were by the pool late like a frat party.. One passed out by the pool! We called finally at 1 am to ask security to get rid of the noise... Not happy! I stayed in room 41x and it was a nice and clean room. Had a queen bed and sofa.. The 3 areas inside are sectioned off to give it a nice studio condo feel. Had a nice kitchen with sink, microwave, cabinets, and fridge. The elevator was the only negative at the hotel, it smelled bad and was slow. There was also construction in front but that wasn't a big deal. Only encountered the staff once for a couple of minutes during check in and they seemed nice. Beach and pier 60 are walking distance. The physical hotel was clean, pleasant..... So to why only 1 star. After Hurricane Irma, we as was most Floridaians had no power(electricity)for an undetermined length of time. They said NO to our small pets, they said NO to Any refund if we checked out early, they say NO to us being able to park both of our cars. I say NO TO SUPPORTING THEM!!!! In our community we try support each other!!!! If you have a choice find/support another hotel/company. read more

This place was fantastic!! I booked here based on other reviews I had read and they were spot on! We got in to town about 4 hours before check in time so our room wasn't ready yet but they allowed us to get our parking pass and play in the pool while we waited. The rooms were really cute and very clean. They provide beach chairs and have toys the kids can take with them as well. Staff was always friendly. The pool was perfect for a day that you didn't feel like going to the beach and it's in close walking distance to pretty much everything on the beach. I will definitely stay here again when we return to Clearwater. read more
