    Clearwater beach from Pier 60

This is our first time here, in a one bedroom (kingsize bed) 2 bath unit with Global Discoveries Vacations. It apparently is the only unit they have here, unit 201, which is on the 2nd floor with a triple window facing Mandalay Blvd with a distant view of the water. Like everyone said the beach is literally a one block walk, and 2 blocks south of all the restaurants and shops. If you don't feel like walking back, there is a trolley that you catch for $2.25, and $1.10 for seniors and children. If you like live entertainment, across the street is Palm Pavillion bar and grill has entertainment every day and night, and it is directly on the beach, so you can hear it even if you are not eating or drinking there. The sand is fine almost powdery white, and the water is usually 'clear' blue water, except that for us, it was pretty churned up from hurricane Irma last week. Happy to be here!

Staff is super friendly. My room 205 is clean, furnished with a fridge with ice trays, stove, oven, microwave, various dishes, pull out couch, two TVs, and two beds (my bed is really soft). The owners have repainted and redone the area around the pool. It looks great and any company that reinvest in it's product wins points with me. There is a double gas grill up top, I would recommend bringing either tongs or a metal spatula and maybe your phone with a Bluetooth speaker. It gets pretty hot up top while grilling, so maybe a large glass of wine, too. We are a party of 21 people with ages ranging from 3 yrs old to 70 years old and this is our fourth year spending a week here. We'll make a reservation for next year before we leave. Draw backs I would say no ice machine, be we can go next door to the convenient store. Some might find it problematic that there is not an evening attendant, but I enjoy the autonomy. There is an after hours number we had to use once when we lost a room key, but the on call attendant came quickly and got us into the room. Overall a consistently great experience that fits us well.

From the roof top BBQ area.

And not one spider or bug on that balcony the whole week we were there! Five stars just for that! All staff were very friendly, in fact I believe it was a manager that bought me and my husband drinks after we walked down 15 flights of stairs during a fire alarm. (I swear nobody else even heeded the alarm, we were the only one in the stairwell). We only ate breakfast in the main restaurant (which was good), but we did have room service a couple of times and enjoyed the rooftop bar, The Tropico, for food and drinks. (The kids menu burgers and fries was plenty for me!) All were good experiences. Hotel is in walking distance of so many restaurants, shops and of course, the pier. We only hung out on the beach one day with the loungers and cabana. I was a little disappointed that they weren't included in the stay. The cost was $30 per day. Otherwise I was content to hang out on the loungers at the pool. A store called Surf Style is just a couple of doors down that has besides clothing, your snacks, drinks and all the tourist goodies.

Throw a breakfast included in your stay and the masses flood down stairs to feed their pie holes. Whether it be the hung over girl shaking off that walk of shame, the guy auditioning for his Walmart expedition later in the day or the family of 10 all not showered and in pjs or those kids whipping their beach towels and complaining no Fruit Loops exist at hog buffet. But what would you do for that biscuit ? The blocking abilities of some of these women attempting to scoop up those runny eggs or over cooked sausages would put Charles "round mound of rebound" Barkley to same. How about the guy wearing those flip flops with gross nails piling his plate high to the sky! Only thing higher on that guy was his buddy waking and baking stumbling into the pit of food over indulgence. So go race down to the oink oink department, fulfill your fantasy of reducing your fellow emancipated hotel guest to mush, and start your day with greed and gluttony. You've got this breakfast buffet guy/lady. Hope your addiction to the biscuit was worth it!

I celebrated my birthday at the JW Marriott Clearwater and it was easily one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was top-notch. Every staff member I interacted with was warm, attentive, and genuinely made me feel special. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, with stunning design and a relaxing atmosphere that made the whole stay feel like a true getaway. There are so many amenities to enjoy, which really elevates the experience and makes it feel like a true luxury stay. The only downside for me was that there isn't a sauna, which is something I usually expect at a hotel of this level. It's a small miss, but worth noting. Overall, I couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate. I'll definitely be back!

However, the experience took a turn when we were unexpectedly cut off after just three drinks each, despite being completely sober, respectful, and not causing any issues. As a disabled veteran, I'm especially mindful of my behavior in public settings, which made this situation even more confusing and uncomfortable. There was no clear explanation given, which made it feel awkward and honestly a bit embarrassing. We fully support responsible alcohol service, but this felt excessive and poorly communicated--especially considering we were dining and not just drinking. Beautiful spot, but this experience really took away from the night.

I rarely write reviews, but this experience needs to be shared…read more Before even arriving, I received an email stating that the hotel is a strictly smoke-free property. However, on our very first day, while sitting with my family eating lunch at the pool area, we were overwhelmed by a strong marijuana smell coming from the table next to us. For a hotel that promotes itself as smoke-free, this was extremely disappointing. The bigger issue happened on our third day. There was a fire alarm going off in the hotel, but we were staying on the sixth floor and did not hear any alarm on our floor. The only reason we knew something was happening was because we received a phone call from someone we're staying with telling everyone to evacuate. If my family and I had been sleeping, we would have had no idea there was an emergency. That is a serious safety concern. When I spoke with management, I was told the alarm only sounds on certain floors due to firewalls between levels. Regardless of the explanation, fire safety should protect every guest equally. Fire travels upward, instead of an audible alarm on every floor is unacceptable. To make matters worse, management was dismissive and unhelpful. When guests were allowed back inside, we were told the fire department would contact management, but there was no clear explanation and no accountability taken. Overall, this stay was stressful and disappointing. Between the lack of enforcement of the smoke-free policy and the serious safety concerns regarding the fire alarm system, I would not feel comfortable staying here again.

PROS; -Walkable to just about everything! We didn't rent a car for our trip so it was perfect to be able to access nearby restaurants, shops, and more all on foot. -The pool deck is very large, well kept, and very well staffed. Tons of lounge chairs and umbrellas. Everyone working there was so dang nice! You can receive pool-side service for food & drink, or head up to the attached bar to grab what you need. Definitely a little on the pricey side, but a lot of good options. -We booked a one-bedroom suite and it was delightful! Sooo spacious, likely more than we needed. It was super clean and modern. Very nice, updated bathrooms and walk-in glass showers. Our patio was also huge, providing beautiful views of the Mandalay Channel. Beds were comfy, and they even so kindly provided us with a cot/crib for our youngest. Hugee for parents - that was super appreciated! -Literally every single person working there that we interacted with was beyond sweet! Five-star service and friendliness from all staff. CONS: -Little to no cleaning service in the room (unless requested??). Maybe I missed how this works, but it was a little of a bummer having overflowing trash cans and dirty dishes we weren't sure what to otherwise do with. They were very quick to bring fresh towels upon request, however! -Given the size of our suite, we would have loved to have a few extra usable items in the kitchen area, like any kind of napkins/paper towels, silverware, and soap do to a little washing up. Surely don't expect it to be fully stocked with appliances and plateware, but it seemed a little odd how big it was with truly nothing to use it for. All in all, we would absolutely stay here again, and would most certainly recommend it to others (especially families). Thanks for a great stay!
