Clearwater Beach from 12th floor

So, i eventually spoke with the relatively new front desk manager. We had a good conversation and he heard me out. Hes bern in the business a while and is planning on bringing in his own staff. I believe he is looking to do better. Wished him well.

The wings were very good. They were meaty, crispy and saucy. And the drinks were great. I can't remember what specific drink I had but I had a few of them and they weren't watered down or too much alcohol. The perfect refreshing alcoholic beverage. The only issue I had was that the seating was outside somewhat covered by tents but the two fans that they had blowing cool air was blowing in the opposite direction from where the customers were sitting.

This is the nicest property on Clearwater Beach. Everything about it was close to perfection. Attentive and efficient staff, handsomely designed room and public spaces, first-rate food. Even the towels, washcloths and pillows were lavish and fluffy. Our 11th floor balcony overlooked the beach. My wife raved about her spa treatment. We had a wonderful stay in every respect. Opal Sands and the adjacent Opal Sol are hands-down the most stunning buildings in the Clearwater Beach skyline. Staying there was a feast for the senses. Opal Sands has the Seaguini restaurant, a spectacular dining room with excellent service where we had our breakfast every morning. We had dinner there once but preferred the dinners we had at Drift restaurant in next-door Opal Sol. Wonderful food!

Stayed here 2 nights. Was higher end of pricing but worth the stay. Hanging out poolside with gulf view worth it. The bar poolside is cool and they have a hot tub which is rare it seems in Florida. Had dinner here didnt need to enture down the beach much since everything is here with easy access

I've stayed at opal resorts in the past Opal Sands in Clearwater is my favorite. Harrison assisted me with checking in and he is quite an asset to the hotel. he goes above and beyond Thank you, Harrison You made our trip exceptional !

One of my favorite places to eat- and I'm a local. Best view of a sunset and the way the hotel is positioned, you don't even see the craziness if typical Clearwater Beach. When you are here, you feel like you're on a cruise with the type of fence that's up at the restaurant. The live music is good- sometimes a bit loud for dinner conversation. The menu is simple but good. We live the fajitas! The tiki bar is cool too. Great place to take visiting friends.

This place is pretty nice but a bit over crowded in the pool area and soooo many kids. As a couple it was a bit annoying at times. On one of the days a family next to us decided to bring big water guns to the pool. Their boys were spraying other kids in the face.... I liked that every floor had free snacks and water behind the elevator. The view of our room was nice, overlooking the ocean and the food was good. I would recommend this place for couples with kids but prob wouldn't come back myself. The valet was very efficient and the bellhop was funny

The Tiki Bar at the Opal Sands was fantastic. The beach views were beautiful and our bartender Kelsey was great. The beachside Bloody Mary's which came with a cheese, shrimp, and spicy olive skewer were the perfect start to the day. Kelsey recommended the Kiwi Sour cocktail and she was not lying it was so good! Me and my husband shared the Grouper Basket with fries, it was not greasy at all and was enough to share. Very nice experience all around.

We recently stayed at the Opal Sands resort in Clearwater Beach and I must say I was mostly impressed. We did look into other top resorts in the area, but ultimately chose Opal Sands as it was recommended to us. Let's start by saying that they have a great location at the end of Clearwater Beach and into the gulf area. Most of the shops and restaurants are easily within walking distance, which was a plus. The hotel is designed where all the rooms having at least a partial view of the water. We did notice the new Opal Sol had just opened, but we preferred to be right in front of the water rather than slightly behind the Sands building. In any case, the hotel is beautiful, and the service was excellent. The day before we arrived, they sent a text asking what time they can expect us. We told them we would be there earlier than the 4pm check in time, and to our pleasure, they had our room ready. We opted for the premium king room with the gulf front view as it had the cozy L sofa area, a 2 person table, and an amazing view of the gulf and beach. The decor was unique and fully gave you the feeling of being in a tropical beach resort. There are two ample sized closets, an in room safe, and a cooler to keep drinks and other food items in; they should have really opted for a mini fridge here instead of the cooler though. The bathroom is spacious, and the shower was pleasant. The balcony was definitely nice with the water front view, but we did have a couple of days of heavy wind and rain that kept us from enjoying it, or anything outside for that matter. Another little perk was that they have a room where they stock water bottles, ice, fruits and trail mix (in the mornings) and cookies (in the afternoon). There's a microwave in there as well, so if you have to warm something up, you can. There are two dining options on the property but we didn't try either as we wanted to experience other places in the area. SeaGuini is the main restaurant you can find in the lobby, and there is the Sand Bar that's near the pool. The property is a valet parking only location, so expect that daily charge added to your bill. Also, when checking out, you might want to check your bill, as we were billed for poolside drinks that we didn't place. The front desk took care of it, but that's something to be aware of. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Especially, if you're making memories with someone special.

This place is the best! And shoutout to Al! He acknowledged our engagement and brought us champagne, the food was excellent, and the drinks were smooth. Highly recommend

The Sandbar is the perfect spot for a chill beachside meal with an unbeatable view. I had the Cuban sandwich--it was flavorful, filling, and came with a side of coleslaw, all decently priced. The service was friendly and quick, even with a steady crowd. Watching the sunset over the water while eating dinner made the whole experience unforgettable--highly recommend for a casual, scenic night out!

This is a challenging review to give. Let me start with the positives The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are beautifully decorated with one of the most comfortable mattresses I've been on. We had a king room that had extra space and a comfy couch to sit on. We were on the top 15th floor facing the Gulf. There was a small refrigerator for water bottles and a Nespresso machine. Would have much preferred a regular coffee machine or a Keurig machine. You could get regular coffee or coffee drinks down in the lobby for a charge. So the room was a 10/10. Each floor has a pantry that is stocked with refrigerated water bottles that are free to take. In the morning there is also fruit and small bags of Chex mix cereal and granola bars. In the afternoon there are sugar and chocolate chip cookies. Housekeeping, Valets and front desk personnel were all very nice and helpful. The main restaurant Seaquini was outstanding and I reviewed it separately. My wife used the spa services and was very pleased We did go to the more casual restaurant outside but our meal was not very good. The server was very nice and service was efficient. The place was chaotic as there were tons of people there. Sitting outside here you had a front row seat of the sunset. The negatives: We were there the week leading up to Easter. A lot of families with small children. Lots of noise. By 9am there were no seats poolside to sit in. This is one of those weeks where people were going down at 8 am and putting their stuff down to get seats. Since it was just my wife and I , we weren't about to do that plus it was too chaotic and noisy for us. So we stayed on our balcony but still heard all the screaming even though we were on the 15th floor. Thought about going to the beach that was right next to the hotel however that was more crowded than the hotel. Come to find out it was a public beach so everyone from the surrounding areas was there. That definitely was omitted in the description. So I know we traveled the week of Easter and that was my fault and I won't do that again. It was spontaneous decision made exactly one week before we arrived because we had a great experience at the Opal resort in Jupiter a month earlier. I know the hotel can't be responsible for kids behaviors or lack of parenting. We had to deal with a screaming kid running up and down the hallway every morning at 730. That repeated itself in the evening. So you get charged a resort fee every day but we did not get to enjoy any of the outdoor resort. Interesting that every couple that we met at the bar inside had the same complaint This is a beautiful resort, just don't go around school vacations unless of course you're going with your own small kids. Also be aware this sits right next to a public beach

Came here on a Saturday night for dinner. The wait for 3 was 45-50 minutes at peak time, but waiting was quite enjoyable as there are amazing views of the sunset as it's right on the beach. The crowd did not seem too rowdy to not want to dine there, and we had time to review the menu. Adequate lighting is provided as it gets darker in the evening, and the menu is not extensive but a fair amount of options. The grouper sandwich was excellent. The frozen fruity drinks were ok. The service was never outright rude, but felt a bit rushed. This place is a must visit for the ambiance, but for the price the drinks could be a little better. If they could improve on this it could easily be a five star venue. Get there early enough and enjoy the sunset!

The beach was beautiful, with calm, warm water and soft, powdery sand. Even when the resort became very busy over Labor Day weekend, it still maintained a relaxing, family-friendly atmosphere. The staff was truly the highlight of our experience. A huge thank you to Braxton, Albin, Joel, Dragen, Izzy, Alyssa, Elaine, Josh, Katie, Eddie, Briana, Shannon, Jessica, Eden, Hailey, Rafael, Robert, and Garrett for being so friendly, helpful, and attentive. They genuinely made us feel welcomed and went above and beyond to make our stay special. Dining & Spa: We enjoyed the service at Tate's and Caretta, especially Eddie, Briana, and Katie. We also loved exploring local restaurants, with Clear Sky Café, Cesare at the Beach, and Columbia being some of our favorites. Robert at Cesare and Columbia was especially fantastic. The spa was another highlight, particularly the prenatal massage experience with Shannon and the couples massages we enjoyed with Jessica. The staff was wonderful and the spa was relaxing and intimate. There were, however, some disappointing aspects. Housekeeping was inconsistent, and there were several issues with the room, including the refrigerator placement, small safe, and shower door. We also felt the beach umbrellas should be included rather than an additional charge. Our biggest frustration was with the front desk and check-out process, particularly how some of our concerns and billing issues were initially handled. It took far too long to get everything sorted out, which was frustrating, especially at the end of an otherwise enjoyable stay. That said, I spoke directly with the General Manager about our experience, and I really appreciated how quickly he responded to my complaint and stepped in to help address the overall issue. His willingness to listen and make things right made a significant difference. Despite the areas that need improvement, we truly enjoyed our stay and are grateful we chose Sandpearl for such a special milestone. The resort has a beautiful setting and an incredible number of genuinely wonderful employees. With some improvements to housekeeping, front-desk communication, and overall service recovery, I believe Sandpearl has everything it needs to be an exceptional resort. We would definitely consider returning.

This is probably the best hotel I have stayed at in Clearwater Beach so far and it would be very hard to go anywhere else.

Still a solid experience…read more We came here for one evening to celebrate the end of school. We came at about 3:15 PM on a Friday and our room was ready early which was great. We were on floor 16 which is the top floor. At first, I was worried I would be afraid going on the balcony because of how high it is, but it doesn't feel terribly high. I actually recommend asking for a higher floor because that's where the best views of the beach are. We only went to the Opal sol pool this time instead of Opal Sands. They have two pools, which is great because one felt like an adult pool whereas the other one felt like a children pool even though there was no designation. It made me feel better about my two children splashing about. There is also a pool by the Spa that I think adults should escape to if they want to get away from children. The one downside of the pool is they don't have many servers walking around taking orders. I ended up walking up to the bar to put in a food and drink order because the only server was on the far side of the pool the entire time. I tried berries and bubbles and a strawberry Mo-to-to, both were fantastic. We learned we do not like the chips and salsa. My older son did and liked the queso, but nobody else in the family did. We also love the hot tub and you can turn on jets if you want. Even though it doesn't feel like they have a ton of seating, we never had a hard time finding a seat, so people do a good job cleaning up after themselves if they leave their seats. They also have tons of towels, I never thought I would appreciate this so much until we were at another hotel that limited guests to four at a time, so I appreciate that you can take towels to the beach and then come back and grab new towels. The rooms are beautiful. They feel spacious and everything is still pretty new since it was built at the beginning of 2025. All rooms look at the beach, so it is nice sitting on the balcony and looking out at the water. One random criticism is that they don't have any non-caffeinated tea, all their tea has caffeine in it that they offer in the room. Room service is very quick. We got chicken tenders and fries and grilled chicken and fries. I tried the Ahi tuna starter and loved it. My younger son loved his grilled chicken and older son ate the fries. Even though the hotel isn't right on the beach, it is literally across the street from the beach so super convenient to get to. Clearwater beach is beautiful. It has powdery white sand, and there are ample amounts of chairs that you can purchase to sit on. They only have valet so the one downside is it takes a while to get your car, but if most of your vacation is on the beach, you won't need your car anyway. I also appreciate that they have snacks that they put out at 8 AM. They also apparently have cookies at 3 PM, but we totally missed seeing that. I forgot to bring the kids snacks so this was a lifesaver when the kids grabbed granola bars for breakfast. They also have Board games on every floor, which I think is a nice touch. I always enjoy our stay here. I would recommend.

The hotel itself is beautiful and centrally located on Clearwater Beach with just a short walk across the street to the beach. We booked two suites , a 2 queen private rooftop terrace suite with a full kitchen and a poolside king suite with a kitchenette which were spacious and perfect for our large gathering. The rooftop terrace was definitely a highlight, and the hotel is within walking distance to restaurants, the pier, playgrounds, and shops. I also liked that the pool is on the 8th floor with a great view and access limited to hotel guests only. Pool chairs were very comfortable, towels were unlimited with no towel card system, and beach cabana/umbrella rentals were half off for guests. The hot tub being on the 16th floor separate from the pool didn't make much sense though. Room service was daily, and I appreciated being able to text the front desk instead of calling. I highly recommend using the text feature and keeping everything in writing because there were discrepancies regarding credits we were promised. There were unfortunately several maintenance and service issues during our stay. The living room TV constantly glitched and wouldn't sync properly even after maintenance attempted to fix it. More importantly, the AC completely stopped working in the rooftop terrace suite for hours while we hosted about 25 guests for the graduation party. Everyone was hot and sweaty in almost 100-degree indoor conditions. Thankfully the terrace breeze helped, but being offered only a $100 credit for such a major issue during a once-in-a-lifetime celebration felt insufficient! The parking garage situation was also frustrating. We were told our vehicles could enter and exit freely with the resort fee, but every time we tried leaving, the room keys and garage passes failed. We repeatedly went back to front desk to get new passes and had to pay $40 to exit then contact customer service afterward for refunds such a waste of vacation time Customer service overall was very hit or miss. Some employees were wonderful while others seemed miserable and unfriendly. The onsite coffee shop was particularly disappointing I'd recommend walking across the street from The front lobby to the real Starbucks instead. At times it felt like the hotel relies heavily on its excellent location and beach proximity rather than consistent service standards.Coming from previous stays at Sandpearl Resort, I personally would still choose Sandpearl for smaller family vacations. However, I will say this hotel offers more flexibility for large gatherings and easier garage access compared to Sandpearl's valet-only setup. That said, between the AC outage, power issues in BOTH suites floor 8 and 17, lukewarm water, TV problems, phone problems, garage charges, and inconsistent customer service, I would probably try another Clearwater Beach hotel next time. We still made wonderful graduation memories and the location, spacious suites, rooftop terrace, and beach convenience were definitely the highlights of our stay.

Once we finally got in, our luggage wasn't delivered as promised, the room phone didn't work, and maintenance had to make multiple trips to replace it before we could even begin to settle in. By the end of the evening, we still hadn't had a chance to unpack, shower, or relax after a full day of travel. Unfortunately, our four-night stay was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we've had. The biggest issue was the condition of the room. We have photos documenting what we found. The shower had visible mold when we checked in, and despite daily housekeeping, it was never cleaned during our entire stay. The room itself felt dirty, and the towels had a foul odor, almost as if they had been washed in rancid water. The room was also in poor repair. Most of the electrical outlets were so loose that plugs would not stay in them. We couldn't use a hair dryer, curling iron, or even reliably charge our phones because the plugs would simply fall out. We ended up buying an extension cord so we could run power from the bathroom outlet. There were no functioning towel bars, and the wall hooks that were supposed to hold towels repeatedly fell off the wall. Housekeeping was inconsistent at best. On Tuesday we had to ask for bath towels. On Wednesday we had no washcloths. We asked a housekeeper, then the front desk, and finally called the hotel after waiting. Each time we were told someone would bring them "right up," but they never arrived. We eventually had to use hand towels as washcloths. That same day, housekeeping only made the beds and emptied the trash. The room was not actually cleaned. The room itself was far too small for two queen beds. It felt as though two beds had been squeezed into a room designed for one. The mattresses were lumpy and uncomfortable and felt much smaller than standard queen beds. Had the room been clean, well maintained, and comfortable, I honestly would have overlooked many of the other frustrations. Unfortunately, when the basics of cleanliness and comfort aren't met, everything else becomes much harder to ignore. The beach was the reason we chose this hotel, and while the beach itself is beautiful, the setup was disappointing. Guests are not permitted to bring their own beach chairs and must rent the hotel's. The first two rows closest to the water were occupied by blue cabanas renting for approximately $251 per day. We rented reclining chairs for about $60 per day, yet they were placed in the back row, far from the water, while many of the premium cabanas remained empty. The rows of orange traffic cones surrounding the cabana area also took away from the natural beauty of the beach. The hotel's location is excellent, and direct access to Clearwater Beach is its greatest asset. However, a great location cannot make up for mold, poor housekeeping, maintenance problems, uncomfortable beds, and a room that simply wasn't clean. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe future guests deserve an honest picture of our experience. Based on our stay, I would not return or recommend this property.
