I came here for a gel manicure, first time here coz the salon I go to is closed on Mondays. It's a very nice salon, clean and modern and the cost for a gel mani is the same as others. My nail tech, Veronica, did a great job clipping my cuticles. I like that it's very well done, with no cuticles roughly trimmed like others sometimes do. I was surprised with the poor reviews this salon has gotten over the years, but I'm satisfied with my gel manicure, so I'll come back again. Just a comment about the receptionist, not sure if she was having a bad day, but a welcoming smile would be great next time. I never write reviews, good, bad, or indifferent, but I felt I needed to share my experience. I called this salon in advance to confirm they use the Luminary builder gel, as it's advertised on their website. The girl at the front desk assured me they use that brand. When I arrived, the nail tech pulled out a bottle of Honey's Nail Secret, not Luminary. I asked her about it, and she said they don't carry Luminary. The front desk lady spent about five minutes "looking for it," then came back with the same Honey's bottle -- but with a handwritten label that said 'Luminary' on it, as if I wouldn't notice the difference. That was incredibly disappointing and felt dishonest. To make things worse, the builder gel they used is already lifting after just one week. Quick manicure, manicurist was rude!!! I asked if she could cut the nails "NO BETTER FOR FILE" ok next 1 nail painted I felt it was not the same color as toes. I said I don't think it matches. She slammed the bottle of polish down. I said forget it just leave it. She put several coats on 4 nails so one did not dry. I told the women at the front desk about the experience. I have gone to Onyx before and never really enjoyed my experience and never complained and said anything about it. However, this past time I went I loved it! I received a pedicure and an acrylic full set along with my younger sister, who got a mani and pedi, together it was only $147, which is not bad at all!! The woman who works the phones and front desk is so lovely and is very caring and understanding. The two women who did my pedicure and my sisters were amazing as well! Emmy, who did my nails was very precise and really cared about the work she did. BEWARE! I just left onyx nails and I am beyond disappointed in their customer service and technician skill. The woman doing my pedicure sliced my toe with the pumice stone slicing it and removing skin. I needed a bandaid. While checking out I asked if they could NOT charge me for the pedicure but I was obviously willing to pay for my manicure and my daughter's mani pedi. Don't worry, you can just bring it next time". First of all, your nail technicians deserve to be paid just as much as you are. Save yourself the time and the money and go to a different salon if you're planning to get fake nails. Today I went in to get a gel new set. When I walked in it was a beautiful atmosphere and it looked very clean. But the quality of the new sets are terrible. I had a nail that came off hours later. I decided to call the salon to Let them know what happen and they couldn't take me for 30-45 minutes. Poor customer service. Extremely disappointed. Definitely won't be coming back. Disappointed is an understatement. I was met with disrespect at the front door as I spoke to the woman at the front desk. Whoever is paying her clearly isn't paying her enough! Once I finally sat down to have my manicure done, I showed the technician my reference photo. I repeatedly asked her if she would be able to do a simple heart design, and she agreed. As she went through the process I could tell she had absolutely NO IDEA what she was doing. Why would you paint on French without a nude base underneath? How does one mess up a French manicure? EMBARRASSING. It then took 3 separate nail technicians to attempt to draw 3 little hearts on my ring finger. I feel like everywhere is a nightmare. "Kristin" the snotty woman that runs the front desk just told me that she couldn't fix my nail (one chip) until 2pm. Also, I've been vaccinated and asked if I needed to wear my mask, she rolled her eyes again before the incident mentioned above and gossiped about how stupid i was to ask that question to the woman in front of me while I put it on. I made an appt with Leo after a friend recommended him. I traveled from NY with high expectations and was very disappointed with my nails & disgusted by Leo's behavior. He didn't touch my cuticles, didn't want to do anything extra besides polish (and I was never handed color options), missed the edges and tips with polish, argued with me over glitter and he made me feel extremely uncomfortable & embarrassed. I was nothing but polite to him. If he doesn't like his job, he should find something else that doesn't involve customers. I was also surprised that the receptionist was so unwelcoming as well. So i was thrilled her and her husband Leo decided to open their own place. Jessica is ALWAYS on point. Shes nice, professional and remembers our conversations everytime i see her. I moved to bergen county a year ago and still drive down AN HOUR every two weeks for my mani and pedi with them. I went this past week to get my nails done before vacation and i was informed jessica couldnt do my pedicure due to a personal issue. At first i was nervous because im extremely picky when it comes to my nails and i never see anyone else but jessica. She told me id be with Valley (another tech) for the pedicure. She exceeded my expectations!!! She was so sweet and took her time. She gave me a great massage (best part) as well. They are a new salon so these "bad reviews" are people who are impatient. You cant expect a brand new place to be perfect at all times. They are extremely busy because of their great work.... if you want a good service, this is the place. I tried this place on a recommendation of a friend and after my usual spot changed owners and just wasn't the same. To say I enjoyed my experience was an understatement. Jessica did my nails and checked in with me each part of the process to make sure I liked the shape, color and thickness (I get a gel fill). Lola did my toes and again! checked in with me each part of the process to make sure I was satisfied. The establishment is spotless and has tranquil music playing to give it a spa vibe. Normally I never write a bad review for anywhere, especially during Covid because I know businesses are struggling. However I just had to post this to warn other people because not only am I extremely disappointed with how my nails came out, I also was cut multiple times all around my fingers. The lady cut them to my desired length and then oddly enough made some fingers super short which resulted in me asking her to make them look equal length and getting them short. On top of that I didn't realize how bad my fingers were cut until after but she was very rough and literally chopped with the tools on my cuticles. If you look close at my thumb you'll see the cut is above my cuticle line! I'm very disappointed and won't be returning. Update: if you want your skin ripped off and to bleed and hurt for days... you've come to the right place. I went to a woman named Kim over the weekend. While cutting my "cuticles" she completely ripped the skin on the side of my nail off. It hurt and immediately started bleeding. My finger bled the rest of the day! This is my very first review and I am purposely coming here to say that this was hands down the worst pedicure I have ever gotten! I have been coming here since it opened and this will be the last time I ever go back! My friend and I get monthly spa pedicures and the last time we came they cut her foot so bad it was bleeding for a day and took a month to heal! Today they cut my toe and they could have cared less! At the end I asked for a band aid and her response was "why it's not bleeding" SERIOUSLY!! It is killing me now! Thank goodness I decided not to have her paint them! This is so disgusting I have no doubt they are contaminating polish bottles if they do paint nails that are bleeding not to mention equipment!! Beautiful salon. I waited in the pedi chair for 10 minutes sitting in tepid barely warm water. When the tech came to me I told her water was cold. She ran warm water for about 30 seconds. Didn't do much to warm the water. She could have spent more time caring for the nails itself, pushing cuticles back cutting cuticles etc. I love the environment I'll give it another try but I'll Make an appt with Jessica or Christine as they are mentioned positively in several reviews. I never ever write reviews. I've gone here for a pedicure before and it was good so I went for a gel fil-in. The tech cut my cuticle so bad, (which normally i do not care, it happens) but then instead of cleaning or waiting for the bleeding to stop she decided to keep painting. She is contaminating my finger and the bottle of nail polish for future costumers, the blood was smearing on my nail along with the paint. Very, very disappointed. Went there and had my nails ruined. The woman, during a standard manicure, buffed them for so long that they still (2 weeks later) are weak and keep cracking (not an issue before this). I also noticed she did not file the nails evenly at all, so asked her to file the one nail to fix it. With that she got up and walked away and said to have someone else do my nails. This was the day before Thanksgiving and I made the appointment 2 weeks in advance. There was no one else to do my nails, and I left the salon with unpainted, weak nails. Girl at the front desk was no help, and I even called to speak to a manager to understand what happened. No call back.
