Would have been 5 stars but the parking spots are the dumb angled ones and the cleanliness wasn't quite what you find on the NYS Thruway. Still a nice rest stop compared to what you'll find on most of America's toll-free interstate highways. I think the hand soap was even the moisturizing kind! Wow.

Visiting this site taught me much more about history that I expected. The nearly 2-hour tour was very informative. The guide knew was able to answer all of our questions! We spent part of the time sitting in the land office, so we were not standing the entire time. You'll need a map to find Peterboro, but it is worth looking at a map, finding it, and visiting. (It is northeast of Casenovia, NY.) Yes, find it! You'll be glad you did!

We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast and weren't sure what to expect. This place exceeded our expectations. The mansion itself is beautiful. Every time we walked around the house we discovered more treasures, everything from the molding to antique pieces. The property has a lovely view of the Erie Canal. Each morning there was coffee waiting or us outside our door on a beautifully arranged tray. Then we went down to breakfast. I hate to repeat myself but the table was also beautifully arranged. We tried several different dishes during our stay, each one delicious. Our host, John and Rebecca, were there for our every need, without being intrusive. After running around all day It was so relaxing to return to our room each night. We asked several relatives to stop by and see the place. Our Aunt was thrilled as she had driven by hundreds of times and never been inside. She was not disappointed. One extra point. They have a friendly dog named Riley who helped us forget how much we missed our own pets. We plan to return here each time we return to Syracuse.

The complimentary hot breakfast was a nice bonus. And personally, I was happily surprised with the kitchenette in my room, so much easier to wash my water bottle and make a hot mug of water. The key card access for hotel entry added an extra layer of security. The walls were a bit thin, as I could hear alarms going off in neighboring rooms in the morning, but overall it was a very comfortable stay.

Filthy room and rude night staff…read more My long-distance boyfriend drove me back to New York and I was super excited to show him Syracuse, my home. He booked the hotel because the reviews and price looked okay and everything was fine until we got up to the room. There were roaches and a weird yellowish stain on the bed. I went downstairs to complain about the roaches (around 11pm atp) and the older man working at the front desk LAUGHS at me and says that I'm lucky it's not bedbugs. I was kind of stunned so I just stood there confused and he kind of just shrugged and was like "Yeah, sometimes the housekeeping keeps the door open and they come in from outside." We were on the third level. Would not stay here again under any circumstances. I'd just sleep in the car.

He was as accommodating during this recent stay as he was the last time we rented it for our family. There have been many terrific improvements since our last stay and a lot of the credit we understand goes to its owner, Lisa Carbone. She has been enhancing this historic beach house with all the right touches and apparently, may have more wonderful surprises to come for The White Caps and its renters. So, if you have a large group who loves breathtaking sunsets, a beachfront right out your door, the historic "Eddie's Restaurant" and popular "Pizza King" within thirty seconds walking distance from you as well as an amusement park the little ones will go crazy over (and that's only a hop, skip and a jump away), this place may be perfect for you. There was nothing sweeter than spending the day with the kiddos in the lake, coming in for the evening and watching the sunset from the covered porch or waking up bright and early to a peaceful quiet as the hustle and bustle of the town got going. This is a great campground...Google maps satellite pictures do NOT do it justice....the sites are…read moremostly seasonal but they still have a lot of great sites available...we spent a week there...the bathrooms are very clean and the showers are hot ..the building may be a little outdated but the owners keep it very clean...they have 2 washers and 2 dryers @ $2 a load so very well worth it...the scenery is beautiful and most lots have docks available for boats...also great areas for fishing...have a big playground which has a beach for access to the water for wading or swimming... The owners take pride in this campground and even though I only talked and dealt with the woman, she was friendly and very customer oriented...I think her husband? Was always on site doing things for campers and/ or maintenance, cleaning etc...had a DJ on Saturday night of Labor Day weekend...we will stay there again!!!
