The service here is spectacular. We never once had to ask the waitress to fill up our glasses or take away our plates. The spring rolls had a wonderful crunch to it and the inside was simply delicious. The sauce was a wonderful. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Poke bowl and although the presentation was pleasing to the eye it fell a little short for me. If you love the taste of tomatoes then this is the dish for you! This was our first time trying Ono. We ordered take out and it was ready when we arrived for pick up. The three appetizers and the house salad were all amazing! The entree was also delicious. Called to make a reservation they said they didn't have a reservation for 3hrs but we could sit at the bar. Arrived at ten after 5. The place was half empty. We asked to sit at the bar that was 3/4 empty. They told us those seats were reserved. Instead they put us at a 1 ft shelf sticking out of the side of the wall, facing the wall. Four people walked in and sat at the bar. One of the servers who was friends with them told them she was holding the seats for them. We were prepared to spend some money on a nice date night. Ono should be called " Oh No" Stopped in for a snack...Friendly staff/service. Kitchen needs to work on the food. Had a smoked crunch roll and baked mussels. Rolls are quite small with minimal filling. Pretty much a mouth full of rice, cant taste anything else. Baked mussels need to be chopped up and mixed with the mayo before baking, not chopped in two and mayo put on top. Really half assed. Also the rice noodles that were on the mussels dish had a nice dead bug in them, that my wife pointed out after i ate the mussels. Gross. I get this location isn't exactly beachside but shouldn't cut corners on quality and double check the plates before they go out guys. I showed the bar tender the bug, Andrew i think his name was, but he couldve cared less. Young kid... Anyhow i paid our bill and left to go get dinner. I also woke up with diarrhea this morning but i cant pin that on this place since the family and i ate lasagna for dinner, but none of them had this issue. Still hungry. We came here from about thirty mins away. We thought we would try a new place with the kids. We paid $87 and some odd cents. My kids and I ate the sushi. My daughters shrimp tempura roll was literally four pieces. The others were 6 pieces. Where's the rest? Our poke bowl was a single scoop. The bao buns come as a pack of two tiny buns. Both were delicious but comically small. Mind you, I'm a mom who's pretty thin and I don't eat a whole lot with chasing my kiddos around. This was such a little amount of food that my husband didn't eat any of it. He just made himself tacos when we got home. A very disappointing meal. However, I'll say the baked in Kenosha roll was very delicious even if it was tiny. The other rolls were below average and didn't taste fresh. My wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner (which was was incidentally their opening night for eating in the restaurant) and had a wonderful experience. We sat at the bar and were well taken care of by our bartender, Dave, all night. They had a wide selection of wines at reasonable prices, so we took our time with a drink and had the ebi shu mai appetizer, which was excellent. We were celebrating, so we ordered plenty: a mixture of bao, sushi, and a poke bowl. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. We will definitely be back again! read more

Loved the sushi, bao buns and super crispy spring rolls! It is definitely an upgrade to the options of sushi restaurants available in town! We were one of the last people dining outside and rather than make us feel rushed to finish up, the chef came out and greeted us and talked for a bit! Place is over priced. Ordered the shumai and chicken pot sticker and the quality is subpar. It's the kind of stuff you can buy at woodmans frozen in the Asian isle. Not only that but their menu does not reflect the correct price. I talked to the owner and her excuse was there's a note on the bottom of the menu saying prices are subject to change and according to her all restaurants do it. So why even put the price in the menu? I understand if this was seasonal seafood but no it's dessert. If you guys want authentic Japanese, take a half hour drive to Hayashi in Gurnee. Better yet go to blufish in Vernon hills. This is low quality food for five star price. Believe me I'm Japanese. read more

We sat out on the sidewalk last night and had a very good meal. Service was very good, the Pinot Grigio went well with the sushi and rolls I had. The fried soft shell crab was very good as well. This is a new sushi place so we thought we'd give it a try because we really like sushi. We ordered take out and tried two rolls, nigiri, and bao to get a range of what they had. We tried to get flounder and they were out which was fine, we just got something else. We get there to pick up our food and they ask us to wait a bit more because the fish bao didn't turn out to their standards and they were remaking it. We were alright with that and waited for our food. They handed us our food and we went to a nearby park to eat it but when we took our food out they had gotten our order wrong. We called back and said that we had ordered nigiri but that we got sashimi in hopes we could fix the order. One of the ladies there told us that nigiri and sashimi were the same thing in a kind of condescending manner so that wasn't really nice or true. She then asked her co-worker (who was very nice about it) after we said that they were different. They said they they would fix our order and so we drove back. I should have checked the order because there were other customers whos order was wrong before us but I guess I just didn't think anything of it. We drove back and they swapped our order with the correct one. Usually with this many things going wrong I would give a bit lower review but they are a new business and I'm sure they are still working out the kinks. Also, the owner came out and handled it wonderfully and was super lovely to us. The food was really good and I would recommend it. I am giving it 4 stars just because there were some bumps but mostly because the lady was condescending when we expressed our order was wrong. I'd be more than happy to give it 5 stars the next time we visit if the experience goes smoothly. read more
