Grand Opening today January 16, 2026
    Jack R.

GRAND REOPENING of this Colma store with a BOGO on any place, NO LIMIT! I saw families with bags of BOGO food, in fact some of the people in front of me right 5 plates and got 5 free! They are giving out random t-shirts and bags until they run out. It's one per individual or group which means let's suppose you went there with your friend and even if you ordered separately because you were near them you may or may not get a free gift. Like I had my own order and my friend had his own order with SEPERATE bills and they would not let him get a t-shirt because he was with me, which mad no sense. Super chaotic and I'm not saying it wasn't true, but there were some old ladies who said they were suffering from heat stroke and were able to cut the line and come inside. I think they cut down on this later because it looks like they were putting a place holder. The DIY sauce line was ridiculous and so was waiting for the food with confusion with the orders when people couldn't produce their receipts half an hour later, maybe they threw them away? Not sure but there were a lot of unhappy people. My seafood platter was not fully fried enough. I had to place the fried shrimp and fish into my airfryer to fry it up more. Also, the lady didn't hear me when I asked for substitute salad instead of rice. Oh well, deal with the crazy if you want. Still a good deal if you can get in and out in under half an hour.

Their catering service is great. We've never had any issues and the taste of the food is always consistent.

We went here for the grand re-opening on Friday, the line was pretty long but manageable. They had a special going on that day, buy one plate, get one free. The place hasn't changed that much in my opinion. My favorite bbq beef was amazing as usual. It was only missing the cabbage, but I can only imagine because it was crazy busy. Food was hot and fresh, on point as usual. I love the addition of the hula guava pie

After being closed for renovations for 5 months, Ono Colma has finally reopened, and I'm stoked! I got there about 5:15 pm Friday night to take advantage of their Grand Reopening BOGO deal. The line was out the door. However, from the time I got in line to the time I left, it was only about half an hour. They were very efficient and prepared for the mass amount of people they knew they would have. I still have the same complaint though...just the one sauce station. I grabbed my sauces after I ordered and didn't wait too long. But by the time I got my food, that sauce line was probably 10-15 deep.

I came by for their grand reopening BOGO. I was really impressed with how organized the event was. An employee came by to explain the promotion for those in line. From joining a ~20 person line to getting the food was about 30 minutes. I was surprised how good the food - this place had never been on my radar. I'd recommend dining in to appreciate how well fried their chicken katsu is. It is a bit pricey but they are generous with the protein and I had a good amount for takeaway. I think the menu is confusing and overwhelming where the tv scrolls through different platters and it jumps numbers (1, 2, 5, 47) for different combinations of meats. There was constantly a 8 people deep line for diy teriyaki sauce. Given the crowd though, I think the restaurant performed admirably in getting people in and out and all the staff were really nice and patient. The promotion was surprisingly generous with no limits on the BOGO. They gave us coupons too and I'll be back!

I genuinely enjoyed the food here and will definitely come back to try other plates on the menu! Came here on Tuesday night around 7pm and it wasn't too busy; food came out fast. I ordered the chicken combo which came with a generous portion of rice, mac salad, and chicken katsu and BBQ chicken over a bed of lettuce. Katsu was delicious and crispy and the BBQ chicken was tender and flavorful. Mac salad was also pretty solid. There was a self-serve sauce station for teriyaki and tonkatsu sauce which was a plus. Both sauces paired great with my order. You definitely get a good bang for your buck here.

    Kalua Pork Island Fire Chicken

I got the kalula pork and the fire island chicken. The total was around 31 dollars which is really pricy for just two meals. The service was fast and they call your number up when its ready. I came around 8:30 amd there were a handful of people still there. The food waa good tho, the fire island chicken was flavorful yet spicy. The kalula pork was good as well and you get a good amount of meat. Theres plenty of tables and good lighting.

My boyfriend and I came here for lunch and had a great experience. The Island Fire Chicken was juicy, packed with flavor, and had just the right amount of heat. It paired well with the perfectly creamy macaroni salad, which had a nice balance of richness without being too heavy. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp, and it was just as flavorful--well-seasoned, tender, and cooked to perfection. The portions were satisfying, and the food definitely hit the spot for a Hawaiian plate lunch.

Food - fast and STILL good. Guys cleaning all the tables and windows with cleaner. Staff courteous and good communication during the Sat noon rush hour. Someone is making an effort here! Thank God. Good job maintaining all these years Ono Grill! Longtime, but irregular customer.

    What the actual discount is...
    Krexus S.

National SPAM Musubi Day Ono Hawaiian BBQ advertises 50% off an order of Spam Musubi, as described in their e-mail. Online orders through their website or App only, no walk in orders. So I tried to order online using their App as well as the website for the following locations, Colma and San Francisco. My order of (5) Spam Musubi came out to a total of $36.45, after applying the Online Code "SPAM 808" my total came out to $35.88 with a total discount of $3.65. Whatever happened to their 50% off discount after applying the Online Code "SPAM808". I called both locations and complained about their false advertising of 50% off discount, they told me that it was an online or App issue, and they have no further knowledge of the online order discount.

    Fish Aloha Plate
    Arron P.

Came here for dinner and saw they were running a special on their aloha plate. It was served at a good time so the wait wasn't too bad. The ambiance is casual with island music playing. Would return to try the rest of the menu.

Aloha plate with BBQ chicken. Very little meat compared to regular plate. February 2026

Disappointed with my portion for an Aloha Plate of BBQ Chicken. The regular plate has like 50% more meat. Why is this plate so little meat when the price is like a $0.50 difference? Service was great and fast. Restaurant was nice and clean. Plenty of workers. But this should be reviewed by management because you will lose loyal customers if you keep shrinking the portion of the serving to maximize profits.

I ordered the BBQ chicken, BBQ pork, and pork adobo, and all were really enjoyable. The BBQ chicken skewer (9/10) was probably the standout. It had a nice sweet and tangy flavor, and the char added great depth. The BBQ pork (6.5/10) had a similar profile, but the meat was mostly fat, which made it less enjoyable. The pork adobo (8/10) was tender and came with a rich, savory sauce that paired perfectly with the rice. I also had the lumpia (7.5/10). They were super crispy but lacked much flavor in the filling. Still solid, but I've definitely had better. This is a great spot for Filipino BBQ and classic staples. I'd definitely order the BBQ chicken again while also trying some other items. There's a reason this place is so well known in the community for serving great, affordable food.

I LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEE the dry fried chicken and the Szechuan spicy beef. The chicken is crispy, packed with flavor, and super addictive, while the spicy beef is rich, bold, and has that signature numbing kick from the Sichuan peppercorns. I usually also get the honey walnut shrimp when I want something a little sweeter to balance everything out, but if you're trying this place for the first time, you really can't go wrong with the dry fried chicken and Szechuan spicy beef. He had the black bean spicy fish with white rice, and I chose the mapo tofu with fried rice. Each lunch came with tea, a cup of hot and sour soup, and an egg roll. The soup really stood out. It wasn't just a thin broth with a few scraps floating around. It was a genuine, comforting hot and sour soup with real ingredients in every spoonful. That alone made the meal feel thoughtful and complete. The portions were satisfying and well balanced, and everything arrived hot and fresh. My husband enjoyed his fish, which had good flavor and a nice texture. The mapo tofu was exactly how I like it. The tofu held its shape, which made a big difference. I do not enjoy overly soft tofu that falls apart, and this had a firmer bite that worked really well with the sauce. The dish was clean tasting, with a steady heat that was noticeable but not overwhelming. It had spice, but it did not overpower the dish or linger too aggressively. There was no pork, which I appreciated, and it still felt complete and satisfying without it. What made this meal especially meaningful for me is that I had just gotten out of the hospital a week ago after dealing with malnutrition, dehydration, and several health issues. I had not been eating well and had lost over 80 pounds in the past year. This was the first full, nourishing meal I have truly been able to enjoy in a long time. For the first time in months, I did not feel weak or fragile afterward. I felt full, steady, and strong. That kind of experience goes beyond just good food. It felt restorative. It felt like care. From what others often say, this place has built a strong reputation for bold Sichuan flavors that are still approachable. People tend to mention the generous portions, the consistent quality, and the fact that the spice levels are flavorful rather than overwhelming. It is the kind of spot that draws both regulars and first time visitors who are looking for something reliable and satisfying. Spicy House gave me more than just a meal. They gave me a moment of comfort and strength when I really needed it. We will absolutely be back.
