First, he explained the process in detail to me. Then, he provided the required paperwork and gave me his business card for follow up questions. Later he also reached out to another Unify branch to find a sample completed form which I could use as a guide on this rather complex legal document. Joaquin treated me as his #1 customer priority. Always professional, polite, and exceedingly helpful. I made a similar request to USBank Torrance who quickly shuffled me to a 1-800 phone number, no contact extension to reach directly. Several days later, unfortunately, no response from USBank. Highly recommend doing your business with Unify Financial Credit Union.

Not having a money counting machine was kind of odd, but not enough to deter me. Here is why I left Malaga bank for a larger, corporate bank (the tl;dr is that customer service is only available M-F 9-5 and their fraud detection services are out of control): They have a $1,000 daily spend limit on debit purchases. If you wish to make a larger purchase you have to call and authorize it. Only problem is they are only accessible by phone M-F 9-5pst. Their "fraud detection" system is ridiculous. I had charges denied and my card locked on a weekly basis for routine purchases, ex: Amazon, and there was nothing I could do about it- this is what pushed me over the edge in terms of leaving the bank. There app is not very good, doesn't have a face-ID option and for those of you familiar they aren't listed with Plaid, which means linking your account to other services and apps is difficult and sometimes impossible.

I hate to give a one star, but it's the only way that I feel my frustrations will be acknowledged…read moreor seen. But the new ProtectPlus addition is very un-credit union like and seems sneaky. I understand that members can opt out by February, but why, in this day and age with all the online scams that exist, are we putting a price on members financial security? That seems unfair, especially knowing that we are more than likely going to see some weird things happen with finances and prices in 2025. $10 a month is nearly as much as what most Banks charge at a basic level. The fact that current members are being forced into ProtectPlus instead being allowed to opt into it on their own accord is very weird. This is such an inappropriate time to implement something like this, especially knowing that this institution has been opened for nearly 85 years and some people have probably been clients for that long. I'm also concerned as to why this choice has not been advertised CLEARLY and UPFRONT sooner to current members. I only recently found out within the last week from a piece of mail of all things, that the ProtectPlus will be pushed onto members, and we have the option to opt out of it by February 1st. Why are we just being notified now and not like 6 months ago? There's no way this new plan was just put into fruition within the last few weeks, and there's no way that in this day in age Kinecta couldn't have sent out an automated text to all members explaining exactly what this was going to be about. Email, apps, and texts exist- so why am I receiving a letter about this? Not to mention, why is this even happening at the expense of the customer? Post update to the response: I appreciate the fast response. I'm well aware I can opt out of the checking account, I blatantly and clearly already said that in my post. This post is more about the nature and implementation of this new checking account and how it's being forced onto clients instead of giving them the option to opt into it. It is sneaky, and I'm sure a lot of clients will be taken off guard by it and not realize it's been implemented and they will be unwillingly paying fees to Kinecta that they weren't aware of. It also goes against the "no fee" services Credit Unions tend to provide compared to banks. I hope those points will be taken into consideration as Kinecta moves forward with this new Checking Account.

BE WARY OF OPENING A CD ONLINE. THEY CAN ASSIST YOU VIA PHONE EFFECTIVELY TO OPEN A CD…read more I applied as a new member to open and fund a CD online and to opening a savings account online. While I knew that a $25 minimum would need to be in the savings account, I had understood this could be funded separately from the CD account I opened, once my membership was approved. However, the CU diverted $25 to my savings automatically instead of allowing me to fund it separately. This meant that my CD wasn't fully funded and so diverted ALL my CD funds automatically to my savings account. I logged into the portal same day of CU membership approval $25 to fund the CD and was told via pop up message I'd need to call the credit union to initiate the process. When I reached out via their CU portal same day, the response also indicated a call was needed. When I was able to get ahold of the credit union by phone a week later, I was told that the CD needed to be funded the same day. I informed them of my efforts to do so, but this wasn't sufficient. They DID close my current CD and opened and funded a new one for me, and assured me there would be no fees (this recently occurred, so I'll update this review if any fees come later). While I'm ultimately satisfied with the result and do think phone support is effective and transparent, opening a CD online is not customer friendly and doesn't clearly disclose key details about how money will be handled, nor does it easily allow you to fund your account or transfer funds using online-only methods. Interestingly, by making it automatic that $25 is untouchable within the savings account until closure, they are making it automatic that the $15 membership is waived, ultimately SAVING members money. The issue, for me, is that it's unclear upon funding a new CD that the $25 will be diverted to the savings account, and will stall the funding of the CD. While I quickly determined the issue the day my application was approved, it's not easily remedied via online means. A call to the CU is needed.
