What could possibly be worse than totaling your car? Probably death and severe injury but barring…read morethose things, and assuming you have your wits about you, I'd proffer to say that dealing with a towing company that isn't provided by AAA or your insurance company would be up there. J&M were called by the cops. I'm sure there's some sort of kickback worked out with Green Township but before I could grasp what was going on as I stood looking at the carnage of my totaled vehicle, the cops had called them. I wish I had called my insurance company to get a tow instead. The guy barely spoke a word to me the whole time. I was surprised that he hadn't asked me where I wanted my car towed to, at which point I found out J&M tows your vehicle to their lot and hands you a carbon copy receipt. Any other location would cost extra. The hours are not posted online, which is a great inconvenience. Their business phone number forwards to someone's cell phone and does not state the business hours. When you arrive to the lot, there is a fence that is the width of the dirt driveway down to the rest of the lot and the rest of the perimeter is enclosed by cars that have seen better days. Which means that it doesn't take a cat burglar to "break" in to the property. My car was clearly dropped off in the middle of the lot located down the dirt driveway. It was unlocked. Not that it mattered since the driver side window and the whole hatchback trunk window were all shattered, leaving it open to the elements. I'm not sure if I expected J&M to throw a tarp over the vehicle or at least drop it off under the tarp, but either way, my car could have easily been broken into, burgled, or subject to the random thunderstorms that have been plaguing the Cincinnati summer. I got to the lot after it was closed one day after work, right before a big storm rained down all around me AND INTO MY OPEN TRUNK AND ONTO ALL THE CONTENTS THEREWITHIN. I quickly grabbed as much of my stuff that I could into the backseat and covered the rest of my trunk with a beach towel that I had left in my car. When my boyfriend got to J&M's lot during their business hours, the lot was still locked up. So much for being open during business hours. Maybe they were out on a tow or whatever, but my boyfriend had to "break in" and move all my stuff from my car over to his, taking several trips up the hill. Some of my stuff was rain soaked, but at least it was all still there (I guess the West side isn't full of cat burglars) and the important things weren't rain soaked THANKS TO ME and no thanks to J&M. I guess trying to be nice and taking care of a car's contents after it's been towed isn't in the job description of a towing place, but I feel like the golden rule should definitely apply after someone just totaled their car. If nothing else, good karma would be nice?
