This post comes kind of late, but better late than never! Unfortunately, I had a bad experience. The owner was very disrespectful and unprofessional.
I was hosting an event scheduled Saturday 5/25 and ordered tables, chairs, and linens. I was told that delivery would be Thursday (5/23), Friday, or Saturday morning and that I would be contacted before the delivery guys arrived. I live in Delaware and the delivery was to a relative's residence in Exton, across the street from where the event would be held. OSPS arrived Wednesday and I did not receive a heads-up call. I wanted to be there in person when they arrived. They eventually decided not to leave six of the 8' tables I ordered; this was their call. So we sent back a number of chairs that would have otherwise went with the tables.
When I inquired about a refund, I was told I couldn't get one because the equipment had been taken out of inventory and could not be returned in time for someone else to rent out. Okay, I accepted it. So I asked if I could swap out the 8' tables for 6' tables so that I would not incur too much of a loss. They said 'yes'. I also asked if I could pick them up, along with some of the chairs that we had to return. They said pick-up was fine as long as I could do it before Saturday. They did not specify a time.
I made preparations to come Friday afternoon, which would give me time to pick up my helper and then get my U-Haul. So I was taken by surprise when I received a call on Thursday afternoon asking me to come Friday morning between 9-11am. I called back to explain why I would not be available to pick up between 9-11am on Friday. The owner went on to say how they have 40 jobs and it's Memorial Day weekend and so forth. I stated that as a paying customer, that is not my concern. This is when he became irate and said that he can't deal with this and passed me off to his wife. He said, "you will deal with my wife from now on".
As I proceeded to talk to her, he is yelling in the background and he must've grabbed the phone at some point because his wife and I did not even get to talk. He proceeded to tell me that I have the smallest job of the weekend (basically implying my business is unimportant). I guess my $350 was trivial to him. This is also unfortunate because I could've been a repeat customer and referred other potential customers. He also went on to say how the circumstances behind me not being able to pick up Friday morning had nothing to do with them, and that I would've had to pay an extra $100 (on top of the normal $75 one-way delivery fee) for a timed delivery on the day of the event.
He further went on to say that he would rather dismantle my job because he had nothing to gain from it. He is yelling the entire time, by the way. I was shocked, but I made sure I would get reimbursed prior to cancellation. To add insult to injury, the delivery guys came onto my relative's property and started taking the items back ... not so much as a ring of the doorbell to acknowledge her and the fact that they were there.
I have never been treated with such disrespect by a business. Thankfully everything worked out through generous last-minute table donations and a nearby rental place that had beautiful chairs at a cheaper cost. So this was really a blessing in disguise.
Although everything worked out beautifully, I still felt the need to write this review. For a company to be willing to leave me high and dry two days before an event, verbally disrespect me so blatantly, and disrespect my relative, speaks volumes. This is not a reflection on the owner's wife ... she was a pleasure to work with. But the owner is the face of the company and his behavior was disgusting. I'm glad everything transpired the way it did because a person like that did not deserve my hard-earned money. read more
