While visiting the store take a $16 gamble and buy one of the 5L "Jugs" of Udaca red wine from Portugal. You will be hooked on a very inexpensive table wine that is actually quite good if you like dry Spanish/Portuguese style red wines. My first experience with the wine came after the owner discussed the wine, its history in his family, and that it is actually quite good. After such a presentation I had to try at least one bottle, right? And now so do you! I drive for hours to stock up on the Jug Wine from the Jug Shop a few times a year. They have a decent selection of wine, beer, and liquors for a small shop. The personality, history in Wareham, and the Jug wine make it worth the stop. I actually have only been here 3 times this year and it was buying a bunch of stuff for parties. They guys were very nice, gave me a discount, a free canvass wine bag and helped me load my truck. I live closer to Liberty Liquors, the giant place in BBay but the place is dumpy, smells and the staff was trained by the RMV.

Dont bother asking for help looking for a particular item. I did and got a blank stare. I tried to find it myself but gave up. The woman at the register was slow and seemed to have trouble counting change (she miscounted twice (the bills)). I asked her also about the wine I was looking for and she shook her head, not speaking either. FYI, this was a Kendall Jackson Chardonnay, not some speciality French or Italian wine! We have always been met with helpful and courteous staff, and never had an issue with rudeness or being yelled at. Perhaps folks from out of town need to remember that their own behavior and conduct in an establishment will determine how s/he is treated by employees. There is a vast selection and the prices are very reasonable, especially as it gets ridiculously expensive as you go further down the cape. We will continue to come here, and for those of you who read these reviews, remember that folks post for various reasons, often when emotionally charged-- in my case, I'm writing this positive review because it is reflective of my 12+ experiences at this establishment over the last two years.
