That threw me off and my anxiety shot up and I set a boundary, I just closed myself off and just answered with "ok", and yes and no's because I guess she's taking everything out on me and I am just trying to get some important information done. So after it was done I told another worker to please not put me with number 36 because she was very rude and I definitely complained. Next time I'll just try to do everything online.

(1401 Congress) After 25 minutes at 8:05 I gave up. (Must be in by 8:15) Quickly parked in metered parking on Congress and sprinted to the plaza. (Never got a ticket, thankfully) - Wear socks. You have to remove shoes to walk through the metal detector. Eww. - Zero cell service. Strong wifi. Use WhatsApp or iMessage. - After metal detector line (which was actually super short and not packed?) your number is assigned to one of four rooms. Check the whiteboard. - Go pick a seat in your room. Hang out for about 1 hour? Watch cheesy welcome to Jury Duty video. - Another small break. 15 min. - Numbers begin to be called for specific cases. - Go outside with your group when called. A police man will escort you to your courtroom. (Unless you are never called! I was called super quickly in group 3. Most people were assigned to a case... No waiting around for hours and hours.) - Defendant and prosecutor will ask your group multiple questions. Please don't lie just to get out of the case. Imagine if you had a criminal indictment and nobody was willing to give you a fair trial!! Karma, people. Some jurors never make it to this point. A case can be dismissed at any time before or after Voire Dire, in that case you go home. - Bring bottled water and hand sanitizer. - Leave your racism and bias opinions in the trash.

The past few years I was in a smaller court in Eado and Spring Branch which both were cancelled. Since I live so close, I ubered. There's a convenient space to pick up/drop off at the entrance. You check in for security, and it has 2 lines. It's a little slow. You take the elevator or stairs to the bottom floor and pick up a pamphlet from an employee, which has your payment card to scan in the system at one of the computers along the wall. They now give $30 for serving, and if you are chosen for a court case, each day is $58. They've really increased since back in the day when it was $6 then I think $20? Can't remember. The computers tell you what assembly room to gather in. They're in a circular pattern. You get complimentary coffee with a ticket you can pick up. They didn't have coffee till much later after 8 am check in. Some of the ones they called missed out. It's good to bring a book or something while you wait. There's also snacks for sale in a little makeshift market or vending machines. They show a short video which pretty much explains the same thing as the letter on how you qualify or not. You wait again until they put your juror number range and split you up. We condensed to another assembly room, waited again and eventually got dismissed after 2 hours. You pick up your letter at the information window with your summons letter or driver's license so that they can write your name, and you're good to go. You can also donate your $30 payment. It was an easy process. I know most people don't like going, but I don't mind it.

I can't stand more than a few minutes without intense burning and pain during bad flares, and I'm in a horrible one now since my trunk fell on me and I had already gotten shoulder injections a few weeks prior. My back problems have been present for over 20 years, and I have fibro, AS, and autoimmune issues as well. Anyway, I usually go to the one on Chimney Rock, but that one can take a really long time. If I was off I wouldn't mind so much. The reviews for Griggs as well as calling and speaking with a very nice woman pointed me in the direction of this location. I planned on getting here at 7:30, but rain and life had me moving slow. I arrived in the parking lot after 8:20 and was out by 9:07. That's with me shuffling around my bags because of the rain and trying to protect my paperwork before actually going in. I was even able to get 2 placards, which I was about to ask for as mine looked like who did it and what for after 4 years of actual use. Faded to nothing and taped together in 2 places. I just turned 42 and work full time in addition to having nieces and nephews. My placard is always moving, and I drive my brother's vehicles since I can't easily move the car seats with my musculoskeletal and pain issues. The actual time from waiting in my seat to the desk and out the door was maybe 10-15 minutes. The only suggestion I have is the sign in sheet for the handicapped like the Chimney Rock location has so we don't have to stand in line and wait to check in at the desk for a number. Thankfully the line was short and I spoke with a lovely woman while waiting. However I had brought extra items for the wait(as I've had to wait hours in the past), my chair pillow, umbrella, iPad, and my bag was heavier than usual. Standing was extremely painful. It's not the same as standing with nothing in hand. There were chairs against the wall, but I did not want to risk losing my place in line. Outside of that it was a great experience. I'll be coming to this location for my needs from now on even though it's a bit further from home.
