Our wedding was on March 31st so we just wrapped up working with One Night Band and let me just tell you they were AWESOME. They seriously rocked the house. My husband and I told them after the wedding to please use us as a reference because we were seriously so happy with everything from start to finish that we could basically make a commercial for them. Marty is the drummer/manager of the band and he was so easy to work with. There were a couple of things we had to do through him last minute. For example, he also works for a photobooth company that we decided last minute to book, and then we realized 3 weeks before the ceremony that our venue was charging us a lot for audio equipment for our ceremony and for a projector. I emailed Marty just curious if they had the equipment, which they did, and he gave us a really good price on it and was willing to bring all that stuff for us, even last minute. Our wedding was in Grand Rapids which I think is like 3 hours from Chicago, but we actually live in Canton, MI which is about 4-4.5 hours from Chicago. Because of this we weren't really able to meet in person with the band prior to the wedding. Marty was completely willing to skype with us to chat about all the details of our wedding and getting exactly what we wanted out of the day. Both my husband and I talked also about how it was so great that Marty really took the time to make sure he got all the information from us he could, he wasn't in a rush to get off the phone or the computer any time we were in communication with him. The day of the wedding they had quite a long drive, but they got there early and were all set up and sound-checked before our ceremony even started at 5pm. (We had our ceremony and reception in the same venue, so they couldn't do that during the ceremony or it would interrupt.) We had a different ceremony musician that was one of my close friends, and Marty gave us a great deal on equipment for him and was really professional and courteous when working with him as well. All the guys in the band are SO entertaining and fun in their own ways. They were really cool guys and got along great with our guests, even the guests that had a few too many drinks. We chose not to have a master/mistress of ceremonies which we were kind of worried about the flow of the reception for that reason. We made a schedule and gave it to the band online before the day of the wedding and then gave them printed copies at the wedding. Not only did they do what they could to follow it closely but before they would announce the next thing (i.e. cake cutting, first dance, etc) James (the lead singer/MC) would kind of look over at me or come up and ask me if we were ready for it and I would give him the signal to do so. Our reception ran so smoothly because of it and he just kept things going so well. We never had to worry about things dying down or anything. I looked at their set list too at one point and noticed they were taking a break at a certain time, and the dance floor was crazy at the time so they pushed back their break without even mentioning it to me because they didn't want to stop when everyone was so into it. From the very beginning my husband said we were absolutely having a band, no DJ at all. We are big music people and we just think that a band creates an entirely different experience than a DJ. They are just more exciting and fun. Everyone at our reception was just raving about how great they were, a few people even posted links on their facebook walls to One Night Band's facebook saying they had seen them at our wedding and they were great. We looked all over the internet for a band with a personality and set list we liked and there was just nothing that compared to One Night Band--I mean we hired them all the way from Chicago when our wedding was in Grand Rapids! If you're looking for a wedding band and you're reading this review...stop now and book One Night Band. This is THE band you want at your reception. From start to finish they made the booking and planning process enjoyable and seamless. Marty was our main contact (also the drummer) and let me tell you....he was awesome. Great, personable guy that is 100% focused on making your reception amazing. He instills confidence throughout the process as he's done this many times before and knows all the appropriate details to plan. The band was great working with us regarding the playlist and even allowed my best man to do a special surprise performance with the band. Every single person at our wedding raved about the band....and I'm not exaggerating here...the most frequent question we got after our wedding was, "where did you find that band, they were AMAZING!" They did a great job MC'ing the reception and making sure transitions were flawless. They also DJ'd music during dinner and during set breaks. From Country to Rock to Hip Hop and everything in between, their performance was top notch. I know this sounds like a love fest....but I really don't know how else to put it. We hired One Night Band for our wedding in July 2019, and it was one of the best decisions we made for the entire wedding. They sounded amazing, and even through 3 hours of live music had so much energy and kept the dance floor packed all night. Our family and friends count not stop raving about how great the band was all night (and we still get that comment a month later!) Aside from sounding great and putting on an incredible show, they provided so many little touches that made the experience and night perfect - live music during cocktail hour, sound during the ceremony, DJ'd music during a set break - all little things that added up to a perfect night. Marty was an absolute professional to work with. He answered all of our questions, was very responsive, and very organized. He helped us put together the perfect set list for the night, add his suggestions and experience to what works well, and was around the whole time leading up to the day to make sure everything went well. I cannot recommend One Night Band enough to anyone looking for a live band for their wedding. If you're thinking about hiring these guys--don't think twice they are PHENOMENAL, INCREDIBLE, AWESOME Band! They seriously kept our party going! I hired One Night Band for my daughter's Christening (everyone said it was more like a wedding but she's my first and I wanted to give her the best, hence, One Night Band). Our party was at Belvedere Chateau, and these guys came out for it. My husband searched and searched and came across One Night Band and showed me the youtube videos. I was like "are they really this good"? We went with a couple of friends to Duffys to check them out and we all were like WOW!!! These guys are spectacular and they are worth every penny! One Night Band is easily one of the most memorable parts of our wedding. We booked at a very unique venue and spent a lot of time looking for a band that would fit our plans. Not only was ONB extremely helpful before the wedding, they were a life saver day of. We had an unusually large wedding party, but ONB was able to keep the energy up and everyone in order as they announced our party and ran through speeches and events. One of my Groomsmen was planning on using a friend to run his wedding, but after seeing how helpful and professional an experienced MC is, he has completely changed his tune. I now have multiple people asking how we found the band and even if they can use the band themselves (don't worry we said yes so we can see them again!). Overall, I cannot recommend these guys highly enough. There was not one second where people seemed bored, and we 100% attribute that to One Night Band. They played our wedding and they were incredible! My wife and I had the privilege of having One Night Band play at our wedding, and the only words I can use to describe them are... totally and awesome. Marty and James were extremely gracious, accommodating and professional in the process, from start to finish. They are extremely friendly and cool guys and I predict much success for them in the music industry! They have an excellently eclectic playlist, which we and the crowd very much appreciated! One Night Band was UNBELIEVABLE for our wedding reception!!! We had received a recommendation from a family friend when we got engaged, saw them perform at a festival in Chicago, and immediately asked them to play at our wedding - and we have ZERO regrets!!! Professional, reliable, but more to the point FUN wedding band! My best friend booked One Night Band for her gorgeous Chicago wedding, and after a lot of happy tears from the joyous occasion, the uptempo, familiar tunes were just what we all needed! They were AMAZING!!! We hired One Night Band to play at our wedding as we wanted the flavor and fun that only a live band can bring to an event. From first email contact, Marty was efficient and great with communication. He really knows a lot about the flow of weddings and was more than willing to allow us to create our own play lists that fit our style. The week of we added a few pieces to expand their services to the ceremony portion of our wedding say and they were very accommodating!! The day of was PERFECT!! They were on time, set up everything, and ran the night without a hick-up!!! This is only the second review I've ever written. I don't have (because I loathe them) a Facebook and social media is as appealing as execution via flying rabid weasels... My wife and I got married January 19, 2019 at the Mayne Stage in Chicago and we booked this band. Beforehand, my biggest worry was that they had nothing but amazing reviews, and so I thought maybe I smelled a rat. No. THESE PEOPLE ARE FREAKING AMAZING. Everyone--EVERYONE--at the wedding raves/raves about them. We are SO happy we made the right choice! My husband and I spent months looking for the perfect band to play our wedding. Our #1 goal was that we wanted the dance floor to be full all night. After seeing One Night Band at a festival over the summer, we knew that they would be up for the task. Sure enough, our reception was the best! I had the privilege of working with One Night Band this past weekend. They were such a great band to work with. They were at the venue at the correct time, and had everything set up with no problems. The band also knew exactly what to do, which was evident that they carefully reviewed the timeline before the wedding. Not only were they prepared but it seemed as if all the guests loved them! All guests danced the night away, to so many different songs and genres. I would suggest this band for any wedding or event in a heart beat. One Night Band Chicago performed at our wedding in 5/2019. They're a 6 member band with 2 lead singers, one female, one male. They played everything from country, hip hop, r & b, top hits. They're all very talented musicians and artists. Marty, the MC/Manager/drummer is professional and easy to work with. He and the band made sure everything went smoothly. This phenomenal band was kind enough to be our band for the First Annual 'Sugar Ball' event for Chicago Children's Advocacy Center. They were better then I expected and I expected a great band after what I heard on YouTube. The video's dont even do them justice. The 275 people we had at this event which ranged in age all raved about the wide variety of music and how well they nailed every song. I highly recommend them.
