Our family had a very positive experience here for the last year. We experienced the preschool and youth programs on various days throughout the week. Although the classes are often crowded I believe the structure works well for the kids and the professors are always adding additional coaches. I've also had the privilege to drop-in 2 months ago to the preschool program and can see how she's grown beyond the mats. She physically became stronger but also, more importantly, became much more confident in the things she does even if it means that she might be wrong. Professor Mo is wonderful at introducing the kids to the program and I love seeing how patient he is with the smaller ones. Professor Giva breaks down every techniques and simplify them for the kids to understand. I've also had the privilege to drop-in and attend one of their adult classes. To say the least that I was mindblown when watching Professor Wellington roll because he is amazingly fluid. I had my 6 year old at several places but some places just did not have enough instructors or left the kids out to baby sit and the it was the prisoners running the jail. Since I started him here, the teachers at CDC have said they have noticed a difference in him this year. He is much more on task and more confident on how he walks around. Upon first day at BJJ, I was taken aback by the student and teacher ratio that was in class. For every 4-6 kids there was one instructor. On top of that the same instrutors stays with the group. I was also suprised that the instructors were high ranking belts. There are several black belts teaching the children class! The instructions was impressive as well. I was taken aback not only about the detail that they go thru with the kids but also the degree of enthusiasm instill into my 6 year old. My little guy would come home and ask me to play pass the guard and other in class games he learned. More shocking was the facility and the aesthetic of the place. I have never seen a gym that was so clean. The place was white all over the place. In adition to that every student is required to wipe their feet before they go on the mats. I was so impressed with everything that I decided to sign up for the class and now we have a father and son both signed up. Pretty cool how things worked out, I thoguht I was going to get my son into jiu jitsu but he got me to sign up instead. lol The community here is awesome. This place serves as a hub for the community. You will see old friends, parents from school, and people from church here. Finally, the adult training is awesome. To those apprehensive about training during these covid times. Let me just say that you'll find no better place to train than onejj. Through extensive preparation and diligence through the proper channels, Professor Giva and Professor Mo provide a level of security, cleanliness and professionalism that really is unparalleled in the California market. I am not one to take what's currently going on (covid) at all lightly. However, after attending their recent classes I can clearly see that they really put the safety and well being of their students above all else. Overall First timer experience: Absolutely newbie friendly with curriculums that are accessible to all, no matter the level. The workout: As much as they focus on technique, they equally focus on conditioning. They make it a point that technique and conditioning can not exist without the other. You'll soon find that the drills and workouts are very tough. you will definitely be drenched in sweat but I can guarantee by the end you'll love it. (Note:if the sweat bothers you, don't worry. At the end of every class the mats, posts, floors, locker rooms/restrooms are all disinfected and cleaned down. From my observations this has always been the protocol way before covid ever started.) The technique: The onejj team really takes the time to make sure you understand the theory and mechanics that goes into every single technique. I really appreciate the level of attention to detail that they take with all their students, brand new or seasoned. Really shows that they care that you're doing it correctly. If you have a fear that you won't get any technical attention, then squash it. Cause they'll pull you aside an make sure you get it right lol. The students: the community and culture at this gym is also top notch! haven't found anything toxic about it. Not joking either! You won't find any of that politics or clique bs here. You'll find all sorts of characters too. all chill and willing to help you grow, as the community is more reminiscent of a funny oddball family than anything else lol. There is all sorts of people who train here. From high tier competitors, smooth operators, gentle brutes, technical nerds, aspiring newbies, nonchalant hobbiests. The list goes on and on. What ever level you are training at, you'll pretty much find a person here to match or push your tempo, ez. (Tbh most of the time it's push your tempo lol. what ever doesn't kill you right?) But anyways. My words are just letters on a screen. Go check it out and see for yourself. Also, if you don't have a GI they let you rent one. Don't worry they're always washed and cleaned so you're always smelling bounce fresh. Tldr: 10/10 This place is great, very clean. Super newbie friendly. People that frequent are friendly, very chill and helpful. Workouts are tough and very rewarding. Techniques are high teir rock solid. Staff is very nice, super knowledgeable and patient. Wellington, Giva, and Mo are excellent at what they do. Mo is responsive when you email him. Giva, Wellington, and Mo are empathetic, compassionate, kind, understanding, and, most of all, funny. They know how to make everyone laugh with all those push-ups or at a given right moment. They demonstrate a superb balance with how they deal with their students. My children, especially my daughter, are comfortable with peers and the teaching/instructions. The instructor's professionalism and good-heartedness extend to how their students' behavior, a positive reinforcement, respect, or should I say "hespect" lol! One Jiu Jitsu has been awesome. My 5 year old has been attending regularly for about 3 weeks so far and really enjoys it. He's on the high energy side and can have a hard time focusing sometimes. I feel like all the instructors do an excellent job with the younger kids. They are engaged the entire time and have fun, along with learning lessons and techniques that are simple enough for them to follow. They do an excellent job of keeping my son on task and work with him to make sure he's learning and involved. I would definitely recommend a visit if it's something you are interested in. read more

Training at One Jiu Jitsu and Fitness has been a life changing experience for me. Throughout the years, I tried many exercise programs to try and stay in shape, but none of them ever really kept me engaged for more then a couple months. I would quickly get bored and lose the motivation to train. After hitting 30 years of age, I realized, I need to find something long term that I can do. Something I can strive to be better at, while also providing tangible results. I was really enamored with martial arts as a kid, but was way too intimidated to try. After doing lots of research, and putting on my adult pants, I decided to train Brazillian Jiu Jitsu. I researched schools in my area, and sent out emails with some questions about their programs, schedule, and asked what to expect on my first day to lower the intimidation factor for myself. Mo from One Jiu Jitsu replied promptly and provided some great info to help ease my fears. The other schools either gave me a canned answer or didnt even bother to reply. I decided to trial with One Jiu Jitsu after this exchange. I was incredibly nervous my first night, but Giva, the head instructor, took great care of me, and made sure I wasnt drowning off in the corner by myself. The students at One Jiu Jitsu were also very friendly and welcoming, and helped walked me through the many things I was missing. Their kindness, and willingness to help, motivated me to come again the next day, despite my inability to get through the warmups, and the way in which I stumbled through the drills. By the time my trial was up, I was sold that this was the martial art for me. As of writing this review, I have been attending class for a little over 6 months, averaging about 3 times a week, and its been an amazing journey. On my first day I weighed in at 236lbs, and am now hovering around 212lbs. Ive been eating much healthier not only because I want to lose weight, but because I want to perform better in class. When I eat terrible food, I can usually tell the next day as I struggle to get through the drills or rolls. If youre looking to train BJJ, I highly recommend One Jiu Jitsu and Fitness. read more
