I wasn't too sure about coming here since it's an hour away from us that it would be open, but sure enough, I called and it was until 7PM that day! I loaded up the car with lunch and snacks and headed to the greatest little farm you could ever imagine! This is a very intimate, family run farm that is off of a little dirt driveway. Drive slow or you could easily miss it! Parking is minimal, but free. There's no rides or attractions here; just a place to sit on the bench and feed the farm animals. If that's all you desire, then this is the place for you! My son has sensory issues, so coming here was one of the greatest day trips we've experienced to date. He was completely dressed from head to toe as a fireman, but that didn't stop him from running back and forth to feed the chickens, turkeys and the goats. The pigs were too busy snoozing, and the bunnies were hiding, so we didn't get to enjoy them this visit. I was told to bring quarters and I'm so glad we did. It was small enough for him to feel comfortable to get up close and personal to the animals, and for us to practice "gentle hands". My heart burst when the chickens were crowding around him, and he said, "Don't cry; I'm coming!" while cupping his little hands with feed. I wish we were closer; we'd come every weekend. We had the place to ourselves for about a half hour before another family came. This place thrives on the honor system, whereas you must bring exact change to purchase eggs, butters, maple syrup, honey, and even little toys. I dropped $20 easily with two dozen farm fresh eggs ($6 a dozen) and a jar of maple pumpkin butter that is to die for! My husband even bought a little toy chicken for his desk to have as a keepsake for this wonderful visit. I don't want to share this place with other people because it means so much to us now! Can't wait to come back!

It's the perfect little stop when you're looking to do something low key. There were goats, bunnies, pigs and chickens. Bring quarters so you can buy animal feed from the dispensers to feed the animals. They were all so sweet and gentle with my niece and nephew. They also sell firewood, honey, jam and fresh eggs and berries when they're in season. Can't wait to stop back here again.

This family owned local farm has been in business since 1950 and the customer service is top notch. I mean it's still family owned business!! not just a name its pride in what they provide to families, good eggs. I got 2 dozen Grade A Extra Large Eggs - I made a beautiful quiche with some, hard boiled others for tasty egg salad sandwiches and the balance I made wasabi deviled eggs- Delicious. I even buy the rough eggs, because shell being pretty & smooth isn't an issue for me, it's the quality of what is in the egg shell that I care about. I also like to get the larger eggs when making egg salad or deviled eggs. I still buy the larger pack of 5.5 dozen works for me too. Also, I know a lot of people have a preference for brown over white eggs, but there's no nutritional or taste difference between brown and white eggs; the shell color is determined by the hen's breed (white-feathered hens lay white eggs, reddish-brown ones lay brown eggs). There are even hens that pastel coloured eggs ( I used to raise those at my parents farm). Brown eggs just cost more because the hens that lay them are larger and eat more feed, not because they are somehow superior. The true quality, flavor, and nutrient content depend on the hen's diet and living conditions, not shell color. So, there's that tidbit of information. Happy baking.

What's not to love about a little roadside farmer's market? The selection was small but everything was super fresh. The small sugar pumpkins were only $2 each so I maybe went a little nutso but I was feeling the almost Halloween pressure. I also got a few sweet potatoes and a couple acorn squash. The sweet potatoes made for a delicious dinner tonight and I am sure the acorn squash will be just as delish. They had a few fall decorations, some bottled honey and apple cider, etc. A little bit of all the fall things. I'll need to remember to make a stop again the next time I am making my way down this path!
