Poor customer service. I purchased a DVD yesterday and did not realize the cashier did not pull my dvd from the back when checking me out at the register. The only options I am given are to drive 30 minutes to the store to get the dvd or a refund. They would not offer an additional store credit or an apology for their employee's mistake and wasting my time and money. I will not be a customer here in the future. read more

We have only visited a Once Upon A Child store once and it was another location quite a while back. We've not gone back because the employees were so impolite. This was our fist visit to this location and it will be our last to any Once Upon A Child ever. Once Upon A Child is a reseller of children's clothes. They also have a few toys and strollers and such, but the real content is the clothing. The brands they sell range from Ralph Lauren to Walmart and everything in between. The clothing we found was in very good shape, much of it like new. Prices tended to run (for the 3T sizes) around $2.50 to $4.50 per item. Very good when the child grows out of things so quickly that you never stop buying more clothes. The problem, though, was not the inventory, but the people. The employees are guaranteed to ignore you and not smile. They are either talking to each other or talking on their cell phone in casual conversations while they move clothes around. When we took our items to the counter, there were eight employees there, some behind the counter, and some in front. I know there were eight because we stood there for so long with nobody acknowledging our existence that I had time to count them a few times. There was no other customer up there, just my wife and I and eight employees. I asked if we were in the right place to check out (it's the only counter in the store) and one of the ladies who had been moving things around came to help. She was polite, gave us a smile, and checked us out. I would never return. read more

I have shopped at Once Upon A Child in the past (in NY), but this was my first visit at this location. I tried selling a big bag of stuff and I have to admit, I was pretty disappointed in how little they bought from me. They didn't even disclose why they passed on my items. These clothes weren't stained or anything. I got a whopping $20. I did buy a few items here. Their prices are slightly high but since they are so -ahem- picky... on what they purchase from people, their merchandise is usually spotless and higher quality. For example, I got a pair of little black/pink baby Puma sneakers for $4.50, 12mo Baby Gap yellow skinny jeans for $5.50 and 12mo Jordash skinny jeans for $2.50! The staff weren't the most friendly I've encountered. I would have expected nicer service especially for the business having a "Jesus fish" on their business card. One girl in particular seemed pretty rude, snapping at me, "IS YOUR NAME ON THE BOARD?!?!?" when I asked about how much $ I was being offered (from selling items). I only asked because I WANTED TO SHOP WITH THAT MONEY and needed to know what I was getting to spend. I nearly said screw it, and took my items back and left without buying anything. I might be back. To buy items. Not sure if I would sell anything again. Might get more money from a consignment shop. read more

Please save yourself time before you try to sell here. I brought in 60+ items of like new clothing, no stains, no pilling, no holes. They picked 7 or 8 items to take and gave me back the rest telling me "they're stained and well loved." I spent hours combing over these clothes making sure I took only the best to them. Save your energy and sell your clothes yourself, not only will you get more money for them but you won't have to deal with the lies these people tell. I bought a very nice graco sense to snooze bassinet there yesterday and got told that i could use any wall plug in that would fit . Well , when i got home my son and i attempted to turn it on, and unfortunately it never powered on at all. I have sold to this store multiple times and haven't had any issues. Today I got a text saying they were unable to take ANY ITEMS. I called the store to ask why and she said the clothes had a smell. When I got to the store, my clothes had a sign that said smell. I asked the lady what the problem was and she said they smelled like cardboard and needed to be washed. I always have name brand items in very good shape. I told the lady they were washed the day before and put in the basket.They said they passed the clothes around and everyone smelled them. I just sold them two baskets full last week and have never had an issue. Clearly they didn't want to work. The staff was extremely rude. They have lost my business. read more

I bought a leather jacket from them, it was completely fine. The cashier folded the jacket and stuck it at the bottom of the bag. I got home, took the jacket out of the bag and the leather had cracked and started to peel away from the jacket. I went back to the store to exchange or see if could get something else and they said that I damaged the jacket and they don't take broken items. Understandable. But now I have a broken jacket that was a bit pricey and my son never even got to wear it. read more

This place is good and bad depending, which is why it gets 3 stars. It's great to BUY but terrible to SELL. The clothes they usually have for sale are (mostly) gently used/new. I have come across items that I wouldn't pay $1 for, and of course they were asking more. Don't bother trying to sell here. You're better off posting an ad on a yardsale fb page. I brought a huge box full of name brand baby clothes (such as baby gap and oshkosh), and they bought maybe 25 pieces from me, for $19. I had gone threw everything previously, and nothing in the box was stained or ripped. I take good care of my family's clothes, and it is all "gently used". I could've found something in the store that they were selling that probably looked worse than what I had. I truly think it depends on who is working and what their taste is. I also think it depends on how busy they are. The only thing worth buying here is the clothes. Anything else is way over priced, in my opinion. And the staff can be rude at times. read more

When I visited this location was impressed at how organized the store was. Everything I looked at was sized and color coordinated. I found some cute items in great condition. I did not, nor would I, try to sell anything. You're way better off selling at a yard sale or online. With two growing children and a limited budget i look for everyway i can to save money and stretch a dollar. I started going to once upon a child soon after my first child was born and continue to shop there. The best things to catch there for a good price is the larger items such as strollers and swings and crib bedding. Around each holiday they have a great selection of holiday attire. It is always easy to find girls clothing in just about any size but once your son reaches size 4, it gets a lot harder to find clothes there for them. I know this is partly due to the fact that boys are rougher on their clothes at this age but still its disappointing. read more

I have contemplated reviewing this store multiple times but I've decided to do it. This a store which was once one of my favorite stores to come to to buy & sell children's clothing has become the worst. I would suggest this store to friends all the time. Every time i come in this store one of the employees has an attitude. A different employee each time. The store is sparse which is crazy because they are at capacity for buying every damn day! They can't seem to get it together enough to be able to buy clothes all day but have to cut it off for some reason every single day. I worked at a store similar to this so i understand all that goes into the buying and selling process and honestly if they had a better strategy there would be no reason as to why they cannot accept clothes or finish the buys the same day ! I am honestly so disappointed in how this store has went down and i think there are a lot of changes that needed to be made. In one of my mommy groups on Facebook there was a whole post where moms were talking about how much they didn't like this store anymore and now it makes sense. It's an okay store. I've been in a couple of times, once before their remodel and once after. The remodel has made the store look much newer and nicer and it seems very organized! But customer service is still the same. Seems like most of the employees can't be bothered to even be asked a question or ring up your purchases and don't greet customers when they come in the door! read more

I would not recommend this store. It used to be my favorite location but I'll never go back to buy or sell. The staff were rude from the time I walked in the door! You could only have one tote, they said it would be 45 minutes and four hours later they still haven't looked through my things. I live an hour and a half away so I had to waste a whole day, and they barely looked through it. Most all of my things had tags on them because my kids never wore it. The whole experience was just ridiculous. These people should find another job if they treat you terrible for just walking in when it's their job. read more

Has a 1st time mom to be I have been very overwhelmed the past couple of months wondering how in the world I would afford to buy all the items a new baby needs. I was referred to Once Upon a Child in Winston Salem, NC and immediately my worries went away. The store carries everything from gently used clothing for babies and children to playpens and swings. All of the items are a fraction of the price that they would be if bought new at a retail store. I may be a new mom to be, but I have many moms around me that let me know just how quickly babies grow out of clothes and even bouncing seats. I bought nearly all of the clothes my son will need at Once Upon a Child and it didn't hurt my wallet doing so. I even got a 4Moms Mamaroo there which costs over $200 in retail stores. I love going into the store and looking through all of the clothes, it is extremely easy to find the size and even color of an item I am looking for. The store has always been clean and organized when I went in. The employees are always very friendly and welcoming when you walk into the store. I have also sold to Once Upon a Child and the service I received was nothing but amazing. I would highly recommend shopping at Once Upon a Child to any mom to be or parent.
