This is not my favorite location. It is so cramped with overflow that you can hardly (if at all) walk through the aisles. I do it anyway, but I will not pay the ridiculous prices for new kids clothes that they hardly wear. The staff is okay. Not friendly, but not rude. My family and I arrived at this once upon a child 30 minutes before closing with a small bag of clothes for donation. In our bag ranged from baby gap, Ralph Lauren vintage & many other amazing pieces that don't fit our son anymore. The lady ignored me then looked up at me and said ya? And I said looking to sell these clothes "nope not today- tomorrow" I asked "is that a policy of yours?" "No because we close the early" I was confused because on the website it states anytime just walk in and you can have your clothes sold. I have been to 5 of the once upon a child in the twin cities area- Minnetonka, St. Louis park, shakopee, maple grove and Eden prairie. They all stand out to me in different ways and I have been a customer and a seller so I thought I'd give my honest opinion for any other moms out there wanting to know. First, Shakopee- this was the first location that I've been to and I think I'd say it's the best. It's the largest store , actually have room to shop and move around and it's well organized. Prices were fair and reasonable, they are also very friendly! Next, Maple grove- I like their selection I found some nice things- one of the best stores for selection only, and they weren't bad at organization and lay out. Friendly staff from what I can remember Eden prairie is #3- nothing notable I think the owner was a little snooty/snotty both lol. I sold to them and got approximately $1 per item. However I did not end up selling a $40 toy brand new never used since they offered me $3.00 for that (glad I asked since otherwise they just tell you the total) #4 is Minnetonka they may be last place depending on what St. Louis park offers for items that I just dropped off. RUDE RUDE RUDE. The blonde ish 40 year old lady was so rude. She literally said "well it's going to be a long time before we can sort it and we close at 7pm so.." I said it was ok I'd still like to drop off. She scoffed at me. Literally only 90 minutes later she was done so couldn't have been that busy. Offered me 19 dollars for 60 items brand new name brand in perfect condition items I said no as I was honestly offended. I think they looked to have some nice things and a large selection. Don't know since she was that off putting. Now the reason for the review- #5 last place Saint Louis park. .. OMG the rumors that this is the worst location are true. Not only is it so squished- nowhere to go to actually look at anything even without a baby- can't bring baby since not enough room for a car seat let alone a stroller. They weren't rude but not friendly either. However, the worst part was THE QUALITY and the PRICES. The picture in my mind I have is the boots and shoes covered in mud and dirt- like what it literally looked like the good will throw away items that were too crappy for them to accept. Out of date and cheesy items that were just tasteless. I saw a couple of decent items that were coats from the gap and one from north face. They appeared to be well taken care of no holes looked clean appeared to be from the last couple of seasons. Checked the tag and saw- I kid you not- $40.00!!!!!!! Come again???! On what planet is a 12 month old jacket $40 even brand new. That's wild. Snow suits were $50-$60 in there. I'm still shocked. The tags were all prices that matched the original price tag not used and 3 years later. So crazy. And it wasn't high end brands just basic like the gap or Nike . Wow. This location is a bit smaller than others, but they've never turned me away from dropping off clothes! They seem to always be accepting new things and it's hard to go there without finding something that must come home with us. So thankful for this chain of stores! read more

This location has a lot of items for sale and I'm sure if I had time to dig through bins and shelves I might be able to find some great items. However, as a mother of a toddler who brought said toddler with me to shop, this place has too many things stuffed into tight spaces and not enough organization to make things easy to access. I won't be back. Someone had recommended Once Upon a Child when I mentioned I was looking for shoes for my toddler. This was the closest store to me so I decided to check it out. I was also planning to look for a couple of outfits while I was there. There are no carts to use when shopping and my child is not yet walking, so I had to carry him while attempting to search for clothes. I wish I had thought to put him in the stroller, but honestly the space is tight and it would have been challenging to navigate anyway. When I got to the section that supposedly had my child's size in it, I looked at four different outfits, none of which were the size I was looking. So, I decided to skip the clothes and go straight to the shoes. It turns out the size 5 shoes are all in totes on a high shelf, which was nearly out of reach if I had two hands available. I couldn't really put my toddler down (because goodness knows where he would have crawled) to reach up to pull down any of the totes. And honestly, I don't even know if shoes were paired up together in the totes or if the totes even carried the correct size. Frustrated, I just left at that point. I I just don't have time to dig through a whole store to get what I need and prefer to go somewhere better organized. read more

This place has tons of items from clothes to toys. There is so much stuff that unfortunately it's too much for the little shop. Most of the toys are in tubs that you need to go through to figure out what's inside. The prices are fair for most of the items. The staff is not very friendly or attentive. Hadn't been here for a while because the old owner was so darn grouchy. The new owner is male and he seemed a little stressed but we were greeted by a friendly woman when we came in which never happened before. We asked questions and we were helped graciously. Their books for 10 for $10. They took my old punchcard and updated it into the new computerized system. My son got a bunch of shirts and a pair of shorts and we looked at shoes too. The pricing was a little bizarre: $3.50 for T-shirts $8.50 for other shirts. Still cheaper than buying brand-new stuff... He was too old for most of the toys used to love playing with, but they told me the clothes sizes go up to size 18 so we definitely have time to go back since he is age 10 but size 8. read more

Babies are expensive. They're wearing one set of clothes one week and the next week they're onto a larger size already. You always hear this from people before you have kids and you sort of brush it off with a laugh but IT'S TRUE, PEOPLE. I'm so glad OUAC exists. I've gotten a lot of my daughter's toys there -- the flashy, fancy toys that would be really expensive otherwise. I've also gotten some really nice clothes from brands I'd never be able to afford new, nor would I want to. Seriously, $40 for a dress at Gap? Something that she's going to puke on, smear peas on, and wear maybe twice before she grows out of? No, $5 is more my speed. I picked up her Halloween costume that I was eyeing online for more than $40 for $4.50. Four dollars and fifty cents! My favorite finds were two vintage Little Golden Books (OMG Richard Scarry!) and a TMBG Here Come The ABCs DVD. Score! Who would sell that, anyway? The one downside is that this particular store is small and very tightly packed. So don't bring a giant stroller because you may get stuck and never come out. Not a bad place to go get baby stuff but when I walked into the place it just felt extremely cluttered. They had tons of toys and clothes at decent price points, i also felt that the staff was friendly. I have had such luck at other locations, but this experience wasnt great by any means. I have a ten month old who I had to carry around the store because they didnt have carts. I did leave with 4 pair of jeans, but I was looking for much more. If I had a cart to put my son in I was prepared to spend much more. The selection was just OK for boys. read more

The staff at this store is knowledgeable and fair. Because its a small store, it has a bit of a cramped feel and they are sometimes unable to take certain things because of inventory levels and lack of space. However, if you have really good quality items, they are more than fair. And if you take the time to search, you'll find some amazing steals and deals!! read more

Yes, they could easily fill a store twice the size with goods, but that also means they have a bigger selection and it's fairly well organized even if the space is smaller. This store is under new ownership. It's way better organized. Can usually find what I'm looking for. Selling stuff is painless, but you won't make a lot of money. We went in the middle of the afternoon on Sunday. They had sold it. Worse, they could really care less. They didn't even apologize at first. We did find something we wanted to purchase and ended up standing around waiting because there was no system or organization at the checkout area. Staff is so rude, I've been there only to sell off/on for years - rude or just unfriendly & either overworked or emotionless, EVERY TIME... no I'm not rude either, I'm usually the one speaking more words w/a more upbeat personality then them. Super cramped - bad selection of clothes but then turn around & pay you crap for your Ralph Lauren, Gap or Guess clothes - or don't take them at all, I've been dealing w/them for years on/off - it's almost always the same, I only really go there when I don't feel like driving all the way to Maple Grove - the Maple grove location is MUCH cleaner, organized (THE AIR EVEN SMELLS BETTER) & the staff is much more friendly PLUS they pay a FAIR price for your items... read more
