I'm extremely disappointed. I called ahead to confirm they were accepting a large amount of specific sizes and winter gear; they assured me it was fine. After driving an hour and 30 minutes and waiting another hour in-store, they rejected over half my items--tons of GENTLY USED or NEW Nike, Carhartt, Columbia, Old Navy, and Under Armor gear--claiming they were 'overworn' or 'too much winter' stock. To make matters worse, the staff was rude and demanded sellers to stay in the building for the full one and a half to two-hour sort despite their text notification system. We purchased over $100 worth of items, but only about $67 in clothing made it in the bag. I even asked the employee who was ringing us up, are you sure this is all the clothing? What happened to the stack of pants that you rung up? And he swore it was in the bag with the receipt. But when we got home, there was no receipt in the bag, and about half the items were missing. My work hours are during the store's open hours and both my kids had school events this week, so it took a couple days and being 30 minutes late to work to be able to go back in and speak with the manager, because my attempts at calling the store were unsuccessfu.. The number listed on Apple Maps sounds like it goes to a fax machine, as no one ever answered the rings and there's a weird high pitch noise after 3 rings. Without a receipt, the manager wouldn't do anything for me, even though I brought all the tags from the items that we did have, and we used our phone number during checkout ...so she should've been able to look up the receipt. This feels like a purposeful hustle, considering we paid cash. The customer service from the manager was unsatisfactory and unhelpful and she was flippant about the whole thing. "If you don't have a receipt we can't help you". YOUR EMPLOYEE DIDN'T GIVE ME A RECEIPT, that's clearly the problem. She said I would have to find the owner (who doesn't work on weekends) but gave me no contact info. The other employees were kind and understanding and I could tell that they wanted to help but couldn't. If you go here, pay with a credit card so there's a paper trail and make sure to count your items before you leave the counter. Buyer Beware- this shop has changed. I remember when the shop opened. I gladly sold items and returned to purchase others as a consumer for years. The shop was always clean, and the employees were decent. On my most recent 2 trips, I was glared at when entering. I smiled at the employees who looked away. Yesterday I entered the store maybe 10 minutes before they were closing. I knew they were closing soon, so I was looking for a specific item to see if they had it also checking on the price of the item. If they had it a young lady approached me and told me they had six minutes before they were closing. Whoever runs this store needs to listen to these reviews. Hard pass on this location! The employees at this store were rude to me too! I waited in line to check in, I left a larger item in my car because I couldn't carry it all. With a huge attitude the girl said "all items have to be in the store before you check in"... ok so I go back outside having to leave a bin inside unattended in a crowded store. In line again, get to the front desk to be told with another attitude by a different girl "all items need to be assembled before you can check in". It was just one click of a loop to another loop for a crib mobile. Ok.... Clicked and done. Then she proceeds to tell me "we don't take that thing" a crib mobile? The other girl yells at her that they do take them. The employee didn't even know what the item was or if the store accepted them. Beyond rude employees, the store didn't have as good of organization as other locations I've been to. It's Near Christmas time and they had zero christmas clothing sections. Until today, I'd only left two reviews in my life. One of them was a five star review..I had received exceptional customer service and I felt like that retailer deserved to be acknowledged for that. The other previous review was a negative review. See I believe that the public at large deserves to know which businesses (based off customer reviews) they are likely to have a good experience at, and vise versa. I wish I could say something good about this retailer, however, this was truly the worst retail experience I've ever had. I've dealt with rude cashiers before, but I've never had one LIE straight to my face, until today. I've never felt prompted to publicly complain about the rude cashiers, because everyone's entitled to have a bad day, right? Allow me to explain. I recently took several totes clothing in. The clothing ranged from newborn size through 12 months. MANY of the items were new with tags. EVERYTHING, with the exception of the new items, was FRESHLY laundered as well as steam pressed, and none of the items had any rips, tears, or stains. All of the items had been purchased new within the last year. The clothing was laid flat, in clear plastic covered totes. ALL of the clothing was sorted by size, and each tote contained only one size. One tote contained size newborn, one tote contained size 0-3 months, etc. All outfits were complete. The totes of clothing I took in belonged to my granddaughter. My daughter has a small car (and a baby), and I have a truck, so I volunteered to take the totes of clothing to the store for resale for her. I quite literally picked the totes up from my daughter's home, loaded them (and only them) into the BED of my truck, and brought them directly to the store. I received a text 30 minutes after I dropped the clothing off. When I went in the store I was told "we can't accept any of this clothing." "Why." I asked. The woman told me it was because "they had a slight odor." Bewildered and confused, considering they were all freshly laundered, I asked her "of what?!?" She replied "of cigarette smoke." She went on to say "we took some of the shoes though." I immediately responded, "no, I don't think you will!" I told her to put back anything she'd removed from the totes(the same totes she just told me "had a slight odor"). Common sense should tell anyone that, of all the items people may bring to the store, shoes would probably be the items most like to carry an odor. However, oddly, THOSE are the items this clerk stated she was willing to accept. Hmmm,... I'll be honest, I am a smoker. However, my daughter is NOT, neither is anyone in her home. To clarify, she doesn't smoke, her husband doesn't smoke, and she does not allow anyone else to smoke in her home or around the baby. I picked up totes of clothing from a non-smoking household, loaded them in the bed of my truck, and brought them directly to the store. While the young quite possibly did smell smoke on ME, to say that the BABY clothes I retrieved from the bed of my truck smelled like smoke is not only absurd, it's a complete and utter lie.... and that's disgustingly offensive. I would NOT have been offended if they'd have simply said we don't want them. I'm offended by the fact she lied to me. This is what's wrong with America. She looked at me (smelled a cigarette) and automatically assumed a negative stereotype. Shame on you! I will never shop here again. read more

The customer service here is absolutely horrible. I shop here on a regular basis and they are not friendly at all. The last time I came here, I was told my points take 24-48 hours to show up in the system. I come today which is like 3 weeks later and my points are not in the system. The manager was very condescending and rude. She wouldn't do anything to help rectify the system that they have in place or satisfy me as a customer. What is the point of a point system if it doesn't keep up with my purchases and there's no way to fix it? I would not recommend shopping here for anyone. They are so rude. I called ahead after being burned a number of times by this place to make sure what they are taking . I called ahead the day before and then get there and they have a two bin limit per day and never told me that when I called. I loaded my car when my son was off because I can't, I had back surgery and then they won't take but two of their laundry baskets. I was in line at the door before they even opened and all these people skipped ahead of me signing in because I was moving stuff to their laundry bin. Beware! Horrible customer service! Waiting before doors opened at 10am mutiple times to sell 1 bin of clothes. Did the check in process, still first in line. Leave the store for 5 minutes and come straight back and I was placed 3rd in line and buy took more than 1 hour to complete. The staff members stand around and gossip as they are working, which makes them work even slower. When I asked why I was moved to 3rd in line multiple times after being first all of the employees just stared at me and had no answer. I'm a fan. First time selling here and the system was smooth. Lay items open and flat in a basket, check into the black kiosk which shows who's ahead of you, they can text you when it's ready. They pay cash, and if you find things to buy, you don't pay sales tax up to the cash payout. I only waited about 15 min; by the time I had looked thru the boys clothes they asked my name. The only good thing about this place is what it sells. Every time I go in here, the customer service is terrible. When I sell items, it takes entirely too long and they don't allow you to leave. The employees are rude. I called ahead and asked if maternity clothes were available and I was told they were. I showed up and that wasn't the case. Online says 8pm closing, the door said 6pm, but the open sign was on, so I went in. I said "y'all are open right?" (It was 6:50pm). And I was rudely told by 2+ employees that they closed in 10 minutes like I shouldn't have walked in. I let them know that online it says 8pm and I was again, very rudely told that they knew that. I avoid this place unless completely necessary. Wish I had more options for resale kids items. The owner should really look in to retraining/rehiring staff. read more

This place is awesome. My mother owns two daycare centers and my sister and I both have babies and this is our favorite resale shop in the north Houston area. The selection of clothes, shoes, toys, and baby stuff is not only enormous but very well organized and super easy to go through. Incredible prices! I can only think of two negative things to say about this location: 1. The staff are definitely lacking in any kind of personality. Zero smiles. They all just look tired and like they don't want to be there. Even when you ask them a question with a smile on your face they just don't care enough to return the positivity. 2. They use these huge SUPER sticky price stickers on their toys that are impossible to come off clean and kind of ruins what would otherwise be a perfect toy. Bad costumer service, awful attitude, no sympathy. The staff is there because they need to pay bills and honestly don't seem to care about they people that shop there. I just moved to the area and came into the store to try to sell some kids' items. I didn't know their buying policy as it's different from other OUAC I've sold to before. I went in a few minutes after they opened and had my two year old daughter with me and was not offered any assistance in bringing in my stuff and it was raining. I set my stuff up and was told I needed to wait in store while they looked at my items. I needed to step to the store next door and was told that if I walked out my items will not be looked at. Ok-I decided to wait but my daughter started crying and getting cranky. I asked how much longer it'd be for my items to be looked at and was told-it'll be long; I had already been waiting about 20 minutes. I asked if I could come back as my daughter was not having it. The girl which I didn't get her name told me: again- drop off days are only on Tuesdays and today is Wednesday (yes Sherlock-I know my days of the week!). I started getting upset and asked if there was a number I could call to speak to someone about accommodating parents that can't stay waiting in store-and she said: the number is right there. Uh-where?!?! I told the staff that their attitudes on top of poor customer was uncalled for. All I got was -I'm sorry you feel that way but it's store policy. I got my stuff while my daughter was still crying and walked out. I've shopped and sold at several OUAC stores before in different states, but this location is by far the worst! I went there for the first time to sell some baby clothes cause I heard that they buy clothes for a reasonable price well the night before I washed them and laid them out nicely and flat. So I go there one Saturday and the process was confusing because I walked up there and one of the girls just said come to this side fill out you're name but I had to wait for about 10 mins just to fill out my name out. Finally one of the girl named Jordan told me okay we'll text you when it's ready. So I stayed in the store and walked around and just looked around the. Lot he's that they have and shoes (which they are in bad conditions & for a high prices) I saw some Nike baby shoes where the side is all ripped and they were selling it for $12 which is a lot for something ripped like that. Anyways after my clothes were ready and Jordan told me "I can give you $3.75 for these 3 piece of clothing" keeping in mind that when I go to carters 3 pieces of clothing you be paying about $20 or even at Walmart an outfit is $15. So when the girl Jordan told me $3.75 for my clothes I was so offend and I asked her what about the other clothes ( I had a basket full & she picked 3) she said "oh they reason why I didn't pick les those it's because it's dirty and stained and it's not in the trend" omg really ? Baby clothes are so cute and always in a trend and plus they are baby/toddler clothes . I was so upset that she tied to give me $3.75 when in there store you buy a t shirt for $3.00. They have their prices high i will just keep my clothes and have a garage sell instead Oh and they employee seem that there are there for a paycheck so I think that's part of the reason why they are lazy to actually check on the clothes and give you a reasonable prices. The girl looked at me up and down and told me if I had an appointment witch I did. Then didn't say anything after and then she told me where to put my stuff. Everyone working here seemed irritated before I even put my box on the counter for a trade-in. I don't know if they were having a bad day or if they were overwhelmed with customers but the entire time I felt like I was bothering them. This was my first time ever exchanging clothes, and quite honestly my last, but I was asking them several questions about the process because it was my first time. Once everything was said and done I had several boutique dresses from living overseas in France in Dubai that they tried to offer me two or three dollars for simply because they did not recognize the brand in their system... Are you kidding me? And then they gave me really nasty disdainful looks when I tried to explain to them that they were boutique brands it made just not be familiar to them. Jacadi, vertbaudet, bonton... you would be better off selling these on eBay and get at least 2 to 3 times the amount that they offer here. I understand it's a secondhand clothes shop but at the very least I expected a smile and a hello when I walked in and at least a bare-bones explanation of what the process was and what to expect. Hi. Today was my first visit to Once Upon a Child in Shenandoah, TX. Two of the employees gave me permission to walk behind the counter to get a better look at the children's boots, as they aren't easy to see from the register. One employee was assisting me and I had two pair of boots in my hand. At that time, another employee came in, raising her voice at us. She said I shouldn't be back there and I could fall, which is a liability. But I was just standing there looking at boots. I was not standing or climbing on anything. She told me to leave behind the counter and that I was in her way, she needed to get through the aisle. I had been there less than 2 minutes. I was shocked at how unprofessional she was so I gave the boots back to the lady helping me and left the store. The other employees just stood there with their mouths open. Shoes are in terrible shape, clothes are overpriced, customer service is pitiful and from the looks of all the people walking around wait time for selling items is extreme. The ONE pair of shoes I did buy reeked of urine. I thought it was another pair in my buggy but I found out once I got home. Washed it twice and still no luck. I gave them away because I wouldn't put my kids feet in them. This location really needs an upgrade because to be in a strip of resale stores this would be my last stop if at all. I have mixed feelings about once upon a child. I really like the stroller I purchased from them and at extremely low price. I like the toys I have bought there and the jumper and the few outfits I have purchased there. I feel like I got some good deals. I will not ever take any of my well maintained name brand baby items or clothing to them again to sell. They gave me $16.50 for 7 name brand clothing items and a co sleeper that my baby slept in maybe four times and I paid $50 for. So as long as people keep bringing their quality stuff in and selling it for 2 cents on the dollar, I will go in and buy it. But I can't sell them anymore of my stuff read more

I dropped off for my wife who asked me since I was off, This place has a drop off service on Tuesday's only, tried to take advantage of this and drop off right when they opened so I could go run some errands while my stuff was sorted. I was the 3rd customer to sign in when the doors opened at 10am. I was told I had to be back in 2 hours. Upon my return my stuff had yet to be even looked at. I was told people who came in after me who waited in store had priority. Why In the world would there even be a drop off service if the stuff just sits there. Employees couldn't give me an estimate time when my stuff would be finished let alone looked at. Next time I'll the better person and just donate the stuff. The girls working here openly talked about customers and had interesting training techniques for a new hire(talking over her-sending her on break because they felt she was doing a bad job). The process for selling your clothes is a nightmare. One of the girls was saying my items where not placed correctly when in fact they where and as she realized she was mistaken-instead of apologizing for asking me to redo she takes my basket and walks away. I saw them talking about each other and customers the entire time I waited. The attitudes they have are horrible! This place has a large selection of clothes, and everything appears clean, organized, and well-marked. The prices aren't super-low, but then again I'm extremely stingy when it comes to kids' clothes (i.e. I don't want to pay $8 for a secondhand outfit, I want to pay $2). But there is a large selection -- I might come back here and look through the clothes if I was looking for something specific. The shoes are really disorganized -- lots of shoes were in the bins for the wrong size, and they're all crammed at the front of the store. They have a LOT of secondhand books, which is nice, but again the prices are a bit high -- at least $1.50 and on up, even for books that are pretty beat up. The toys section was the most disappointing -- it reminded me of Goodwill, all the toys were just strewn haphazardly on a shelf at the back of the store, which made them look trashy and unappealing. The lady said freshly laundered and laid flat. I get there, the floors are disgusting, the clothes were gross and worn out. The shoes were filthy. The clothes look like they are only washed by the people who brought them in to sell. I would never personally shop here for my children. I sign in and wait for 30 mins just for a rude and ignorant employee to tell me there was dog hair on some of the clothing and they wouldn't take any of the clothing I had brought in. They could tell I was upset. One of the employees was laughing. This just made my blood boil because it was despicable and unprofessional behavior. I would NEVER ever go back to sell clothing. I've been a customer for years and for at least 2 years at this particular location. The service is absolutely terrible! Brought in items that were brand new and some worn only once, but for whatever reason were not purchased. I could see plenty of clothes on their racks that were in much worse shape than the ones I brought in, so I definitely do not understand why they were trying to be so particular! For an example, I had 5 set of pajamas sleepers with built in feet in size 10 that were only worn once, looked brand new, and everyone knows how hard it is to find sleepers with the feet in them in those bigger sizes, yet they turned down the purchase. Not sure why because I saw hardly any pajamas in that size in their current inventory and what they did have looked terrible and I would never buy! When I asked about a dress that had only been worn once on why it was not bought, they pointed out the smallest of imperfections I have ever seen and told me that was why. I needed a microscope to see what she was talking about because it was so close to the seam and not even noticeable that it was probably like that when I bought it brand new. Don't waste your time on this place! You are better off taking the time and selling your items online yourself. Might as well cut out the middle man and make the money your items are really worth.
