It's a hit or miss at this location. Will they greet you? Probably not. Will they look like they want to be there? Probably not. They have a huge selection of clothes from Newborn up to big kids. The clothes are gently used, free of stains. They have big giveaways when the seasons change, even then the prices are not bad and worth it. When you are selling clothes the lack of updating their system and lack of communication makes it an inconvience and i rather give em away than get cash for them. I tried calling the store so I could see if my items i brought in the day before were ready. They haven't updated the system as it still says sorting and they wont answer the phone. I love this place. Do you know how much stuff we go through in our house with 3 kids? SO MUCH! So quickly, too. We come here often to get our kids some gently used clothes and even more often we are up here selling the gently used items that our kids have outgrown or are done with. We've sold big baby items, clothing, books, toys, etc. I feel like Once Upon a Child is fair but also don't go into it expecting them to buy your stuff for a ton of money. I checked the hours online saying 11-6pm on Sunday. I arrived around 12:30pm and the store is closed with no signs of opening. Today is Father's Day so that could be cause for a closure, but there is no sign on the door or online. I am completely with Missy on this one. You can definitely find some cute kids' clothing, and most are sold at pretty good prices. I have girls, and the stock is generally in better condition, as I have found girls aren't quite as hard on their clothing as little boys are. I personally like to shop for shoes here, as my girls outgrow them so quickly. I can find a pair of gently worn Keds, or cute sandals at about 1/4 of the price of a brand new pair. The staff inspects all of the clothing very closely for stains, tears or wear. I think they even have special lighting to catch any little flaw. Other items include toys, DVDs, hair bows, sippy cups, Melissa & Doug gear, strollers, diaper bags, kids' bedding, and outerwear. This is a children's consignment store. I am a fan of bargains and deals and with three young boys, I need all of the help I can get! This is a good store to find gently worn children's clothes. The types of clothes you find here are usually basic, not boutique type of clothes (smocked or designer). I usually pick up a few pairs of jeans and pants for my three year old and sometimes get lucky and find Abercrombie shirts for my 9 and 11 year old. I have found the older boys clothes are more worn and not in as good of shape. They do have a good selection of used books and DVDs and toys. They have plenty of strollers, pack n plays and baby gear. The key is to check back often if you are looking for a particular item. I do not recommend selling your items here as they do not offer competitive resell prices. For example, I took a Petunia Pickle designer diaper bag that was in excellent condition. I used it for less than a year with one child. When it was purchased it was $250.00 and they offered $10.00 for it. If you do choose to take your items to sell here take them in an identifiable container vs a garbage bag. They have so much stuff, sometimes things get misplaced. I have found the best way to resell is through area consignment sales and we have a lot in the area each season. read more

I discovered Once Upon a Child when I had my son 6 years ago and I am in a huge fan. this particular location is 10 minutes from where I live. I assume that the location has something to do with how large their selection seems to be. I've gone to the one in Collierville and the one in Southaven and they don't always seem to get as much product. I really wish that I had come up with this idea because you get these items for your kids and they grow so fast that you can't use them anymore or their babies so they only get to use them a little when it comes to dress clothes they only wear them so often so then they've grown out of them by the time that comes around for them to need dress clothes again. short of going online this is probably the best place for me to find frilly dresses for my daughter outside of holiday seasons. read more

I brought an enormous amount of Mini Boden clothing, a designer brand, in good condition and over half was rejected. They also rejected a Hanna Andersson dress set. Meanwhile, their wracks are crammed full of over-priced Target and Old Navy clothes. They broke up a Mini Boden dress set which upset me. The dress set was worth a lot, and someone should be able to purchase the set. I will not be back. I will sell my high-end clothing items on eBay or marketplace. Finally, the wait was looooong. No one bothered to tell me they were finished, even though I hung out in the store for all to see. I'm a fan of this place! I've only been once but I found some great stuff for my newborn baby that's on the way. (C'mon October 7th!!) I think it's deinitely a hit or miss kinda place and I probably won't be there as much when the baby gets out of toddler stage bc then the clothes have been worn too much. But I highly recommend it for babies bc we all know babies never wear there clothes more than once IF that. I found a changing station that matched my crib perfectly and a few books to read to my belly. I love this place. I especially like to go for the girl's dresses. Yesterday I had a very bad experience with a worker, an old and bald man, when he attended me he had a very bad attitude, he removed the clothes hooks and threw them on the counter. he put the toys in the bag (which were some porcelain cups) he didn't care and I threw them in the bag very annoying. I think some people come in with unreasonable expectations. These are second hand things and everything loses value once you buy it and use it. There were a couple things I was told 1: they don't sell any diaper bags for more than $10, so you aren't going to get a lot of money for any bag you bring in. 2: For other things (like our glider) they look up the lowest price in the area and have to make sure to beat that. You get about 40% of that price. it's pretty standard for a consignment shop. The woman was very clear and explained everything to me and answered any questions I had. I'm just happy to get a few bucks for my son's worn clothing and shoes. They have great items there at good prices, if they paid me more for my stuff they couldn't sell things at such a low price. read more

I love shopping at once upon a child. They have adorable second hand clothes for kids. It has always taken a long time to check out because the store is small and they only have one or two people running registers. I am not pleased with my experience with trying to sell my baby items here. Today I was told my baby items were stained and worn-out. I spoke with them about one outfit in particular that is white. It had zero stains and was certainly not worn out since it was purchased brand new and only worn once. That is when they told me they had too much baby clothes from size 0 to 18 months. I saw on the 3 to 6 months rack for girls there wasn't much of anything. I'm very unhappy with the customer service. I'm OCD and I keep all of my children's clothing in excellent condition. We decided to take a trip to Memphis just so we could drop off 2 overly full bins of cloths. At about 10:30 we dropped are bins off and decided to go shopping for a bit. A couple hours later we received a text that are bins were ready for pickup so we made are way on over. When we got there we told them our name and she looked around for a bit but then told us "Can you give me a couple minutes?, Y'all can just go look around. We waited about five minutes when a girl came and brought us a phone. She said I have my manager on the phone and she wants to talk to y'all. So I picked up the phone and she told us that they found a bug in one of are bins. The manager then told us they can't take any of the cloths in our bins even though there was only a bug in one of them!! I couldn't believe them the bug probably came off there dirty nasty floor. My daughter and I took two crates of gently worn infant clothes to Once Upon A Child in Collierville. We were told the buying process would take about 15 minutes so we browsed for a while then left to quickly get something to eat. The clerk told us our clothes were next to be assessed and someone would call us when ready. We returned about 30-45 minutes later only to be told it would be another 20 minutes because the employees were assessing other clothes that had been dropped off AFTER we left. When I asked the clerk why the store didn't deal with the clothing in the order received, she said they normally do and then gave me a roundabout totally stupid reason why that wasn't the case this time. Great little second hand children's clothing store! Everything is in very good condition. I've found some really nice winter items for my baby here that looked brand new. They also buy clothes or offer store credit for items customers bring in. This has worked well for me when I've received gifts that were the wrong size or season--I've been able to trade them for something the baby can actually use. I'd definitely recommend this store to any parents who like saving money. I do have to warn you that for some reason it is always really hot in the store. My sister told me about Once Upon a Child in 2017. I have a growing toddler who I love to dress in nice things. This place is such a delight! EVERYTHING is reasonable and in great shape. I have purchased several Ralph Lauren POLO shirts brand spankin new, with all tags attatched and they were only $4.50! You can't beat that! I'm so glad she told me about this store because I was a new mom and spending way too much on clothes that my LO was only going to be in for a small amount of time! WHEWWWHOOOO!! I feel like I've found the best kept secret!! The store in Cordova, TN is very organized and the staff is ALWAYS friendly! I brought in several items for resale and I was very pleased with my payback (I spent it all in the store of course!! lol). Yes we shop here for deals on clothing! More for our toddler than for our son; seem the older the more worn and not great priced. Downfall: we no longer sale our clothes to here without selling to another consignment first and bring our leftovers here. We were coming here and it wasn't the fact that we didn't get enough buck for our used clothing, the problem was we would buy something from here and if our daughter didn't wear we would take to sell back with our other clothing and they wouldn't take it! I bought it there yet they say they don't take that! Makes no sense! Supposedly they go through a computer system, yet this system should see where they took it and sold it before... Also, do not take large amounts of clothing at once. Found out by taking too many and hardly none were taken, figured they didn't go through it all, so we went back and took it in smaller lots and guess what, they bought! Only other downfall is the very worn shoe selection, I was very disappointed when I saw all those rough shoes in the bins. Oh and parking stinks, limited space. So, shop here for clothing deals, take small amounts to sell at a time, and skip the shoes unless you're a digger or want some play shoes to get dirty in!!! Jmo! read more

I would agree with everyone else that their customer service is nonexistent. Others have commented on that, so I will provide information on the main reason why I will absolutely never ever ever return to this store or any other OUAC. The reason is because the owner cares only about profit and not about people. Most people don t know that if a customer leaves their items longer than 24 hours after they are contacted to come pick them up, the items the store did not want are THROWN AWAY. Oh... and don t expect them to contact you even though they say they will. When I dropped off 7 boxes of clothes, I was told they were swamped and to wait for them to call me which is what I did. I called back two weeks later wondering why it was taking so long. The owner provided phone records that they called me the day after I dropped off my stuff. My phone records indicate otherwise. I know for certain they never left a message so my stuff was tossed. Yep... tossed in the dumpster in the back of the store without a second thought. I was going to donate the stuff they didn't want. I couldn't believe they did this, so I actually drove behind the store and got visual confirmation of this practice for myself. I'm trying to get the photos showing proof of this to upload.) There were numerous bags of perfectly usable clothes. In a conversation with the owner (Paul), I asked why he didn't donate those items instead of throwing them away. He indicated doing so was not something that was good for his business and he made other donations the public did not see blah, blah, blah. Here s the reality... there are many many families in Memphis that could benefit from what his store throws away. Not only that, but his philosophy on this demonstrates what is wrong with so many people in this country who just throw away one item after the next without a second thought about what that does to the environment. read more

I really love this store! Pretty much every time we go in we are able to find just what we wanted. The clothes are in excellent condition, organized by color, which is a lifesaver when you are looking for something specific. My son was delighted with his new clothes. I've gone to the Germantown several times. The clothes have gotten a little worn and the shoes are terrible. I think they need to go through them an toss out the badly wore shoes and clothes. And start looking at the items they take in more carefully. Some days I can go in there and find some great treasure and some days its like I've been trying to shop outside. The Goodwill has some better things on a good day than OUAC. The older looking stuff need to be mark down to a few dollars and I mean less than two dollars. But for the most part they do okay on a good day. They might need to put washing them first in their polices. read more

If you are going to sell something here, READ THE AGREEMENT!! I took in a tote full of clothes, a bouncy seat, a swing, a playard, etc. They were extremely busy when I went in. I had to set up all the stuff so they could make sure it worked,which was fine. They gave me a price and paid me for everything except the clothes, which they said they could not tell me a price for them until tomorrow. I waited three days for them to call me. I finally called them and asked about the clothes. I was told that I had a store credit of $32.00. When I asked why it was a store credit, they said that their policy was that I had to call them within 24 hours of dropping the clothes off and either come get my money or take back the clothes or else I could only get a store credit after the 24 hours. I realize that it was my fault for not reading the policy before I signed the slip, but to make me have to call them and ask about my clothes, not knowing when they are going to be finished looking at them and giving me only 24 hours to pick up my money is a scam to me. If you can't make it back in 24 hours and you dont agree with the price they quote you, then to bad for you. You can't get your clothes back and your stuck with a store credit of however much they give you. This was my first time here and no one bothered to explain the policy. I should have read it, but I have taken clothes to Summer Kids who actually call you when they are done and I guess I assumed they were the same way. I read more

I walked into the store and saw that the sell items here line was the only one open. So I get in line some people were buying some people were selling some people were picking up. The lady in front of me was picking up so to keep the line moving when the young associate walked away to retrieve her items I walked up to sign in on the green pad to keep these in motion. When it was my turn I was told it would be 20 min if I stayed in the store but if I left it would be probably closing time when she called so I decided to stay. I parked at the front door with my flashers on so I told her I needed to go to my car really quick she said no. I said look you can see my car its right there my flashers are o. I parked there because I had a lot heavy stuff and I had my son with me. I drive a really nice car she looked up and said oh and your probably going to have to move your car. I said but you told me I couldn't go to my car. She said oh yeah just leave it there. I said I guess I have to she walked away mad. I asked her why did we have to stay in the store I said I need to grab something out of the car for my son I could tell she was upset I don't know why but she again said no and that this was a new policy that she was a starting. I said OK I've been in here several times I've never met you. She never offered her name or anything. So I asked for her name she wouldn't tell me. I asked for her supervisors email. I was told no. She handed me a slip for $44.86. She told me to get at the end of the line. A white lady walked in and said wow the line is long you guys need some help. I said they are disorganized today I don't know what's going on. The so called manager yelled out "I'm going to have to ask you to leave". I said leave for what and she said I was insulting the employees. I asked how by saying the store is disorganized and that you guys need a little help. I was treated very unfair ly especially since a white female stated the same exact thing and nothing happened. She stated if I didn't leave she would call the police. I guess white people are the only ones that can have a complaint and voice it without being persecuted. I'm seeking legal action and I've spoken to a few people that have had the same issue. read more
