Several months later, the class schedule and locations changed significantly. I asked whether a partial refund could be considered given those changes, but was told refunds are not offered under their policy. My bigger issue, however, was the quality and structure of the classes themselves. There was little sense of progression and very limited focus on fundamentals or the mechanical details that actually help people improve. Classes often felt loosely organized, and when students struggled with technique the most common advice was simply to "practice at home." For a paid instructional program, I expected more direct coaching and clearer skill development. Another practical consideration is the class demographic. If you are a man considering joining, be aware that the classes are heavily male-skewed. In many sessions it felt like roughly 90-95% men, which meant a lot of time either waiting to rotate or practicing without a partner. The community around bachata in Denver can be friendly and social. But if you're looking for structured instruction, clear progression, and balanced partner practice, this school may not meet those expectations.

My husband found Bachata Denver on Facebook from a video of the dancers. It looked like fun, and we…read morecouldn't wait to start! October 27th, 2021, was the first class we attended at Bachata Denver. We proceeded to attend 3 more classes. We absolutely loved It! It was fun, the teachers were skilled and talented at instructing. The other students were wonderful, the class size was intimate and there was a big dance studio floor, so we all had room to do our thing. It became our favorite night of the week (side note: highly recommend doing dance class with your partner), we thoroughly enjoyed it. However, our last class was November 24th, 2021, as I found out I needed emergency surgery. We advised both the instructor, Kelisha, and Pierre Tchenawou (business owner), that I had surgery scheduled for the following week and would be unable to attend class for a couple months, until I fully recovered. My husband didn't want to go to class without me, so we said we both would be taking a break for a few months. They gave us hugs and well wishes for my surgery, and they're excited for us to come back to class. The conversation took place immediately after class, as we were all saying our goodbye's. We were eager to start back up again after the new year, and we said we'd contact them when the Dr cleared me to resume class. Fast forward to March 2022, and we just realized this dance studio has continued billing us $200 per month. We contacted the owner about these erroneous charges; thinking, it's a small school, they must've not realized it, they'll make it right. Boy were we wrong! The owner matter-of-factly told us they have a 5-day cancellation notice; he asked us to understand he's running a business and be respectful of that. He said the school has been taken advantage of in the past, so he has to be strict about their cancellation policy. He advised their policy is listed on their website. He told us he runs another business and travels, and he has a lot more going on than Wednesday night bachata class... which is fair. However, we didn't expect him to cancel us automatically from not attending, we told him to his face that we needed a break for a few months. After some back and forth, he then changed his story, and acknowledged now he recalls hearing about my surgery, but he insists we didn't request to cancel our membership. Who would continue paying for a class they couldn't attend for several months? That doesn't make any sense. If we didn't finally notice they billed us in March, they would just continue billing us $200 a month for forever. That is the definition of bad business practices. That is unprofessional, greedy, dishonest, inexcusable and grimy! The owner has now stolen $800 for classes over the last 3 months, including pre-charging us for March! Pierre said to compromise, he will refund the $200 payment from a few days ago which pays for March 2022 membership, but that's it. This is laughable and an insult to my husband and I. He called both of us liars saying the cancellation portion of the November 24th conversation never happened. He spoke with Kelisha (dance instructor for our class) who concurred and doesn't recall any conversation about anything on that day. Yet, Pierre remembers the surgery portion of the conversation. How does that make sense? Mr. Tchenawou is relying solely on his flawed recollection of a conversation 4 months ago, when the situation is black and white. It's quite simple. I advised we would be contacting our bank account to dispute the charges. My husband and I both own our companies, and we work very hard. We are often busy as well, juggling multiple things as well. I don't care about the $800, it's principal. Businesses need more accountability. As an artist and dancer, Pierre is amazing. As a business owner and operator, he is severely lacking. And calling us liars because you can't recall something, is tacky and in bad taste. We gave them an opportunity to make it right, but they'd rather go this route. I find it humorous this owner is enforcing a contract agreement we never signed, acknowledged, or consented to. The auto-billing enrollment policies were honored, we advised him within 5 days of the cancellation, back on November 24th, 2021. Do better, Bachata Denver!

Angie made the class such a comfortable and supportive feeling that I fell in love right away. It has turned into my favorite class to take. The class that Angie teaches is very fun and releasing, it really brightens my week. I couldn't ask for a better modern teacher to have! She definitely taken my appreciation for dance to a new level. Her choreography is one of my all time favorite to do and to watch and I always leave class excited for the next week. I am so grateful to have been introduced to modern by such a fantastic person and teacher.

I've gained a tremendous amount of confidence through her class and her choreography is fresh and exciting to watch! I particularly enjoy her use of floor work and release technique in the early part of the class warmup. It's an advanced class but she's really great about adapting the movement to dancers of all levels. Also, LIVE MUSIC ACCOMPANIMENT !

It looked like you had a good view of the stage from any seat. Speaking of seats, our seats were small, very uncomfortable & jammed in. Very little room...anytime someone needed to get to the aisle you had to get up out of your seat. I did however appreciate that there was English translation scrolling way above the stage & in the seat-backs in front of everyone's seat. The opera house itself was very pretty with interesting architecture lines. The opera was really good. Beautiful singing voices, great acting, interesting props & scenery and gorgeous costumes. Last but not least were the wonderful musicians in the orchestra. Most patrons dressed up, some were very dressy & wore tuxes & cocktail dresses. The staff were super friendly & helpful as well. It was a fun evening!
