History
Established in 2006.
EDD was founded in 2006 with a small company. Over the last several years, we've added various adult classes that change annually, ranging from beginning to professional. We've produced annual evening-length works at various venues around the metro, including the Dairy Center for the Arts and CPRD. In 2015, we embarked on our first tour, teaching and performing in the Midwest. We are not a stationary business with a studio and store front. We rent our class space. For current info about our class locations, visit the class page of our website.
Meet the Business Owner: Angie S.
Angie Simmons is a dance educator, choreographer, performer and the Artistic Director for Evolving Doors Dance. She holds an MFA in Dance Choreography from CU, Boulder and a BS in Secondary Dance Education from Illinois State University, one of the few universities in the US that offers a full training program in dance pedagogy. Angie was inspired to create Evolving Doors Dance in the metro after completing graduate school and feeling a strong desire to create sociopolitical dance because, at the time, it was not a dance focus that already existed in the area. After a few years of mainly performance work, metro dancers began to express interest in classes and so EDD began to offer adult classes at various locations. Angie has taught and show work in Colorado, Mississippi, Minnesota, Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, New York, and throughout the Midwest. She has taught students ages 8-80 and everything from beginners to professionals. She has received various grants for her work
