The Breakyard is a convenience store that is part of the Clarence Brown Oil Company complex. I've…read morehad reason to stop in a few times for gas and to pick up a cup of coffee. One thing I've been impressed with is that the store and grounds are very clean and orderly. Notice how the buildings of Clarence Brown Oil all are tan with white trim. There is obviously a measure of pride here. This business has been in operation for more than seventy years and they seem fastidious about it. Inside The Breakyard it's like many gas station convenience stores, except they have a deli counter that prepares sandwiches and a couple of booths to sit at. So, it's kind of like a Wawa store... if you have experienced that. Not a lot to say here except that it's a nice clean gas station and convenience store.

All of the veggies were fresh as well as the meats from the deli. The sub roll was jam packed with salami, ham, roast beef, and provolone cheese. The mother clucker had sliced oven roasted turkey with a healthy potion of hot bacon and cranberry Mayo. Delicious! There was also a bakery inside and several coolers with a variety of beverages including beer. After the girls made our sandwiches we got two ice teas for our sandwiches and it came to $27.

The gas prices here are reasonable, but be prepared to enter the store if you plan to use a debit card because the pumps refuse to take them. The staff here was great but the clientele is a bit rough around the edges. That being said, I felt comfortable stopping here and it reminded me of fueling up in one of the suburbs of Boston. Overall, not a terrible station but be prepared to be solicited by someone looking for change or money for cigarettes.

I also believe it's the ONLY Sunoco in town if any of you care or are pulled into the swindle that is the Price Chopper AdVANTage card as I am. Gas pumps are self serve and generally work pretty well for a quick fill up and get out. The market, well let's say there's a bit of a benefit in this also being a licensed Vermont State Liquour store. But don't go in expecting shelves upon shelves of discounted spirits lining the walls. Colonial, again, is very local feel without much effort to look "enticing". It's got a very low light ambiance to the place that seems to creep me out some when shopping in here. So I generally know what I want and just get out. Probably the brightest display in the store is the gigantic Vermont Lottery scratch off vending machine that looks bright and sparkly but likely just eats people's hard earned money every day to just eject some pieces of paper that end up as discarded scratched off trash within about 5 minutes...yeah not so bright and shiny when you think about it. They have most of the staples in a licensed Liquor store: vodka, whiskey, rum and other aged liquids. You likely won't find that rare bottle of 100 year old scotch...well maybe if it comes in the tiny airplane size. Have fun looking among the 4 shelves. Food choices are what you'd mostly expect of a convenience store: packaged doughnuts, plastic wrapped danishes with infinitely long expiration dates, Funyons...the usual. Prices aren't too bad, sometimes you can get close to a 2 for 1 deal on wine prices for things that taste like they come out of a cardboard box. I do have to say though, counter service is generally great here. Always quick and efficient and there's one kid who works here who always has a great positive demeanor among the low depressing lights in this store. That's good to see someone who can actually appear to enjoy working in a cave. But honestly, Colonial does what it's really supposed to do, be convenient. It doesn't do it with glitter and sparkles, it does it more with "we're here, off the main Fairfax Road, be happy about that and get back on the road" flair.

This is a fairly large Mobil stop. It's got 4 islands of pumps, backed by a large Maplefields store…read morethat includes a Subway. In addition, it has its own automatic and self-serve car wash garage. I haven't tried the store or the car wash but I can speak for the gas stop and the Subway. The gas is usually mid-priced for the region (which tends to be a few cents higher than average Vermont). The pumps are very slow. They use the push button (not touch sense) keypad self serve system which, in my experience, tends to be slower but these are, by far, the slowest in terms of user interface. Example: Debit Card (yes/no)? Yes (20 seconds pass) Type PIN Number then Enter (enter pin)..20 more seconds or so go by....you get the idea. The Subway isn't bad. It's clean and they offer just about anything you get from any other Subway. The service is a bit on the slow side but not terrible. I was a bit underwhelmed by the last sandwich I got there but then again I haven't tried a Subway sandwich in a while so I guess I'm not sure what I was expecting. The store is clean and large enough to not feel crowded in. There are places to sit and enjoy your lunch/breakfast/whatever. There is also a traffic light there to assist getting back out onto Swanton Road.

Pharmacy is a hot mess. They refuse to answer the phone. I had to call their corporate office to…read morehave my Naproxen (Aleve) prescription filled. The 2 reasons they refused to fill the prescription... "it's too hectic in here," it's too hectic in here & it's cheaper to buy Aleve OTC." Yeah. My copay is $0. A little hard to beat that price if I pay for OTC. I have 2 prescriptions that still haven't been filled. They were called in on 9/19. I confirmed via Walgreens text that I needed both filled that day. It is 9/23. I called yesterday to ask if they could fill them. Nobody answered the phone. I called today to ask for the status & surprise surprise, this location is temporarily closed due to staff having the same head cold half our town has. Enough is enough. Highly do not recommend using this location. I really miss Rite Aid and their amazing pharmacy team! From the moment Walgreens took over we've had nothing but issues. Transferring all of our scripts to Price Chopper.
