We recently set out on a journey like no other as we decided to bite the preverbal bullet and get…read moreour old cedar-shake roof replaced this year before material prices rocket toward the stratosphere even further.  After researching top subcontractors, and reading the horror stories of folks getting scammed by ethically challenged folks, we ended up getting bids from numerous subcontractors and after much sticker-shock therapy we began our earnest best-value review of each proposal.  One of the things that set Columbia Roofing (CR) apart, for us at least, was the fact that Daniel took the time to describe the process that would be used, including the materials to be used and how they all worked together to protect the house.  After some back and forth on the contract language, we opted to go forward with CR and we are very glad we did.  Day one of the shake tear-down I was chatting with the help and met two brothers who are part of the CR crew.  In short order I picked up on the fact that they were amazing guys with an outstanding work ethic, and no fear.  When I asked them about the time involved in getting the job completed, they let me know that it would take some time as "it's a big roof and extremely steep."  Tear-down took only a few days and they had the new synthetic underlayment and ice barrier up there almost immediately to ensure protection against a random rainstorm.  The crew then got significantly smaller as it was either 2 or 3 guys working weekdays and Saturdays to get the job complete.  They stood on small areas of roof that made me sick just to watch them, but they were properly secured to the roof and the brothers told me that they had been doing this for almost 2-decades.  Additionally, we did ask them to help some out-of-scope manual labor (move a hot tub about 20') and they were more than willing to assist, which again simply points to the nature of these guys and the firm they work for.  For our project, Columbia Roofing was absolutely top-shelf and as such they have my endorsement and recommendation.  They did an awesome job for us!

We called A+ Insulation they came out took the time investigating showed us pictures of the issues as to why it froze so we hired them. History: I hired another contractor to remove part of my sod, level the yard, put down new sod, and install a couple new sprinklers. I paused mowing with Pipo's for 3 weeks during that time. I guess it pissed them off because my next bill included an extra $65.00 for miscellaneous trash removal. I saw the mower make an extra trip to the truck to dump grass so I assumed the $65 was the standard fee plus $15 for an extra long area. No. The full $65 was for one extra trip to the truck. I'm not sure what they did but I soon realized my sod was dying. I have dead grass spots...I mean really dead...along the patio and the fence where the new sod was just placed. I checked the cameras around the yard but all I could see was the mower stopping and the workers standing there talking. When I cancelled service I got a pleasant "Ok thanks." The passive-aggressive attitude is more than I'll tolerate. Do NOT use this service.

Specifically we paid for taking out the old front island including three large yuccas and new sod placed. The yuccas were removed but not the large tubers in the ground. The yuccas are now growing up through the new sod. Yuccas are extremely hard to get rid of, but at least digging deeper to remove the large tubers would have helped. We as the homeowners are now having to rip up the new sod to tear out the tubers. When contacted Darin said it was not his responsibility and gave attitude when contacted

Musser's landscaping designer Julie Wilson took all of our ideas about what we would like our yard to be and created a beautiful landscaping plan that captured the essence of what we were after. Julie and her crew started work in the middle of January and stripped our yard to bare sand. They worked through cold, wind, snow, and rain and created the yard of our dreams. We now have native plants and trees artfully arranged and lighted along with a waterfall, path and retaining walls placed to complement our home and the neighborhood.
