And he and his workers show up everytime he says they will! i.e. to clean up thoroughly after each jobs done! His tile crew does excellent work! We used 4' tile on our kitchen counters... which was challenging to work with, yet Aaron's work came out beautifully. His brother Jermey did a beautiful job tiling our bathroom. His flooring crew's work was superior...as our house was quite tricky with its difficult angles. Travis at Humboldt Renovation and Design is someone you can trust and gets the work done in a…read moretimely manner. I found Travis through the Yelp "My projects" section where I was trying to find a contractor to help us fix a leak in our guest bedroom. We couldn't find where the leak was coming from and I was trying to get price estimates from different contractors to solve the problem. Most of the contractors said they couldn't give a real estimate till they started doing the full project which seemed understandable. What stood out about Travis though is that he made the effort to say for $100 he would assess the issue by cutting out a piece of my drywall and give me a proper estimate. My fiancé and I were on board and happy to see someone take initiative like Travis. Travis then went on to find a pinhole leak in one of our old copper pipes and he right away gave us an estimate that was much more reasonable than other contractors we spoke with. Travis went on to fix our leaky pipes and found out that we replaced the wrong pipe. There was a pipe above the one we saw that was actually the cause of the leak. Travis messaged me and said that he would only charge for the additional pieces (no additional labor for his work), which was super generous and understanding of him. We got this repair done and out of the way in an efficient manner thanks to Travis' diligence. My fiance and I are now having Humboldt Renovation help us replace carpet in our house for "hardwood" vinyl, replacing our shower, and putting in a new dryer vent. I additionally want to add that I has also asked him to replace both of our garage door openers which we signed up to do and later on found out it was covered through our home warranty program. Even though I already signed for Travis to do the work, he was very understanding and let us get the repair done instead by our home warranty service. Humboldt Renovation and Design will be the only contractor we will be using around our house. He is a great person with a sweet family and does great work. Thank you Travis!!!

I was pleasantly surprised that the the owners of Humboldt Handyman responded to my email so quickly. I am thinking that all the handymen are quite busy after the earthquake. The owners came over to our house to assess the damage. The are professional and friendly. The following day they sent over a crew member who was very skilled, conscientious, and personable. He attached the bookcase to the wall quickly and confidently. I am very impressed with Humboldt Handyman. I will call them again if we have work for them. I enthusiastically recommend them!

He followed through with a timely quote and great communication. Joey was happy to do the part of the job I liked least - insulation, hanging drywall, and the first coat of joint compound. I'm happy to finish mudding, priming, and painting -- That's the fun part to me. He pickup supplies, started the job at 9:30am, and was done by 3:30pm.

We wanted our old bathtub removed and a walk-in shower installed. We had a contractor assign the…read morevarious parts of the job out. The demolition (by the contractor's crew) went well; they also installed an outdoor shower so that we didn't have to go to the gym for our showers during the month it took to get all the work completed. The tile was done by Pierre Carbonneau's crew; they did a beautiful job and were very easy to work with, always keeping us informed of when they'd be back and what they were doing. Unfortunately, the work done by Rousseau Plumbing is not beautiful. The drain, the shower head, and the controls are all considerably off-center. In addition, the handle for the control was sticking out about 1 3/4" inches from the round plate in front of it; eventually Ryan Rousseau showed up and sawed some of the excess stem off so it only sticks about about 3/4" now. The young man who did the initial plumbing work did not consult with the lead worker (who was here on-site when he arrived). He seemed to be completely unaware that we were having a walk-in shower installed that would extend beyond the perimeters of the (now-gone) bathtub. When the plumbing was roughed-in, that was when we noticed things were very off-center. At that point, the tile installer said that it was unfortunate, but that he could still work with it. We didn't want to make the plumber go back and re-do the work because the costs were accelerating as it was. To control the cost, we would settle for the way it was even though it is far from perfect. (See photos illustrating exactly HOW far off.) When my husband spoke with Ryan Rousseau about how this could have happened, Rousseau's response was that Carbonneau's crew fur the wall differently than the tile contractors they normally work with. When asked why they did not communicate with the lead worker/Carbonneau's crew, his response was that "we never work with this tile contractor who does custom showers." Not once did he ever admit that perhaps he/his crew should have checked with the tile contractor, seeing as how they'd never worked with them. Our contractor said he spoke with Rousseau as well; Rousseau continued to deny responsibility and blamed the tile contractor's craftsmen for doing things differently than what he was used to. This is very disappointing to see, considering all the beautiful work that had already been done. And we are stuck with an expensive shower that is far from what we wanted.

I recognize home owners can be difficult, and I'm no different. Larry dealt with all the changes in plans openly and calmly, always willing to strategize and accommodate. We've worked with various contractors in the past, and by far LJG is the best. My wife and I bought a property in McKinleyville a 2-story 3/2 with a 2/1 ADU, both of which were rentals for approximately 20 years. I got four quotes for the work, and LJG was one of the more competitive quotes and was able to start within a few weeks. We did two bathroom remodels, flooring, cabinet refinishing, concrete patio pour, new kitchen sink, gate install, and roofs.
