There aren't many pure boxing gyms in the east bay outside of Oakland. So when I found US Karate &…read moreBoxing, I had to try it out. I've been to three different kickboxing/ mma gyms in Hayward but I really wanted to focus on real boxing. Despite the name, thats what US Karate & Boxing offers. Ive been training here for almost 3 years now and I can honestly say it has helped shape me into a more confident and healthy person. All thanks to Coach Joe and his son Coach Caleb. They have taught me so much and have helped me improve since the first day I walked in. They prioritize technique and take time to focus on everyone. They have different time slots for different skill levels, so you never feel overwhelmed. Each class usually consists of warm up, conditioning, drills, then light sparring but sparring is optional if you only want to work out. There are currently two amateur fighters, in the gym so if you're looking to compete then look no further. A membership includes two classes a week, and access to the gym outside of your training sessions. They have a ring, heavy bags, and a squat rack. It is a pretty small facility but its perfect if you don't care about the latest training equipment and want that old school boxing gym vibe. Training at US Karate & Boxing has easily been one of the best choices I've made, and I will continue to train here for the foreseeable future.

Community is humble, passionate and about the right size (not too big feeling crowded or not too small). I have gradually improved in all dimensions - strength, cardio, flexibility, technique and mindset/mentality. 5 stars! Highly recommend. You have various options (CrossFit, bootcamp, powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting etc) to chose from depending on interest and where you are at in your fitness journey.

I had no background in CrossFit or weightlifting and felt completely new to it all, but they explained the basics clearly, kept things motivating, and often stepped in to correct form so we built the right foundation. That gave me confidence and made the classes something I looked forward to instead of dreaded. Over time, I enjoyed Boot Camp so much that I moved into CrossFit. I'm still a beginner in CrossFit and probably will be for a while but my weight loss has accelerated since making the switch, and I've started feeling stronger, healthier, and more positive overall. So far, I've had classes with seven different coaches plus Brad, the owner, and every one of them has been dedicated, approachable, and engaged. Each coach has their own style, which makes it fun you pick up something new in every session. Brad himself is humble and very committed to building the kind of community that makes people want to keep coming back. The best part of this gym is the great community of coaches n people. It's full of people who push themselves, encourage each other, and make the hard work enjoyable. If you're looking for a place that challenges you but also supports you, CrossFit One World is it. Joining here has been one of the best decisions for my health and well-being.
