We recently purchased a new Samsung 65" TV, and needed to have it installed and connected to our existing system. Spencer hung the first TV seven years ago, and did such a great job we asked him to return for the new job. He and his assistant came out and once again did an exceptional job on installing the new TV, however it was discovered there were a number of defective pixels in the screen to to damage from shipping, and he recommended we return the TV. We did as he suggested, and he returned when the new TV was delivered and he and his assistant installed it professionally (he charged us for one visit only!) These guys save the day for me. I was moving out of Huntington Breakers and moving to Pacific City and Best Buy was supposed to come pick up my TV on 5/2, and I was to turn in my keys that night. He responded immediately, made an appointment, came out the next morning on Oct 7, and arrived promptly. Spencer installed our new All-Region dvd player, along with my updated Fire TV device, then even showed me how to fix an annoying problem I casually mentioned about not being able to hear television voices well at the back of the bedroom. After reading Spencer's reviews, my wife and I decided to have Omega Technology install a wall mount for our television. Spencer came to our place, met with my wife, discussed what we expected and we received a quote of $300 for the job (three hours was the time he quoted) plus the price of the mount (we had a mount that Spencer told us was inadequate for our application). Both of them agreed to the price. Spencer arrived to begin the install on 9/12/15 a few minutes later than was agreed upon. This was only 9:06 am; no big deal (yet). After a few minutes, he and his "helper" began the work. I was informed that my optical and HDMI cable were not adequate for the application and that he carried cables of the length he needed. I agreed to his price and the install was finished (including putting another tv on a rack of an existing wall mount) by 11:10. This was nearly fifty minutes earlier than he expected was required to complete the job. I was happy it took less time because my wife and I had a wedding to attend and some errands to take care of before the event. Spencer went to his truck and returned with a business card on which he had written how much was due for his services: I looked at the card and was shocked - the cost of the install was now $655.57. I knew the price would increase roughly $50 over the agreed upon original quote of install and new mount. When I questioned the apparent overage, I was told he quoted me $95.00 per installer (2X95=190 p/hr). Hearing this, I wanted an explanation. His reasoning was that my wife and I misunderstood his quote. What he told me verbally (without an invoice), is this; $95.00 per workman(2) X 3 hrs $150.00 for the mount $50 for the two cables and an unknown cost for two wall plates The work was completed in just over two hours. If you are reading this, you can do the math. We negotiated the price to $555.00. All the while I had to listen to him whine about how he was losing money on this job and that it was Saturday. I had the impression he wanted me to feel as if he were doing me a favor. I did not feel that way and was very happy to see him and his worker drive away. As stated at the beginning of this review: I chose Omega and Spencer because of the reviews he had received on Yelp and because he is a local young guy starting his own business. It was a mistake. I would not recommend this company to anyone. The work was done as expected - average install; nothing special. That is all I can say positive about my experience. Since my last review in 2014 I have had Spencer install a wifi extender (not the one you plug in the wall but a powerful booster to give me 50 mgbt download in the backyard), an outdoor tv, and an outdoor soundsystem. Absolutely first class work from Spencer on our home theater install. We asked him to mount our televisions, install some wiring, and install 5 in-ceiling speakers into our finished ceiling. He was personable when he came for an estimate. His estimate was accurate, reasonable, and itemized. He was very easy to work with when it came to selecting speakers and designing the overall system. On install day, he put forth great effort in keeping the work area clean from the inevitable drywall dust and debris. He measured everything very carefully and the speaker and TV placement were perfect. The job was difficult, but he and his partner refused to quit for the day until it was complete. Everything was properly set up, calibrated, and sounds and looks great. And even after a long day, they did a great job cleaning up. Spencer is a REAL professional. After a somewhat disastrous projector install by a hereto-unnamed AV installation company, I decided to request a quote from Spencer at Omega via Yelp to fix it. My existing install was a real mess- the corner wire molding was falling off the walls, my projector was not properly aligned (original installer told me it couldn't be fixed) and my surround speaker mounts were not installed properly, so one of them came right off the wall along with the speaker- very dangerous! Spencer was prompt in his response via Yelp messaging and then phone (text and call). He arrived exactly at the scheduled time, wore booties into the apartment so as not to get the carpet dirty, assessed the situation, and then let me know it was easily fixable, with a quote of around 1.5 hours time at a very reasonable rate. The work was not easy- securing each segment of wire mold and then reinstalling the wires along 2 walls in close quarters on a hot day, aligning the projector mount (turns out this was easily fixable but the other company's installer didn't know this; Spencer also threw in a focus adjustment) and when I asked if he could extend a speaker and move it to a corner, he agreed and did so very quickly. After he was done, Spencer cleaned up quickly with his shopvac and I was good to go. Great experience with Omega and Spencer. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

UPDATE: Spencer just did more work for us this week, and once again we were very impressed. The old, ugly ceiling-hung surround sound speakers in 3 rooms started to fall apart, creating a safety concern. We originally thought they could be replaced with less obvious in-ceiling speakers. However Spencer discovered that the due to the unexpected, odd way the existing speakers were installed, dry wall repairs likely would have been needed if we went with in-ceiling speakers. We did not want to have the project result in such repairs plus a lot of painting, so we were back to the drawing board. Spencer then showed us not only great smaller, less conspicuous speakers, but also brackets that very neatly and completely covered the holes from the existing brackets. He and his assistant Tyler did a very meticulous, neat and clean, professional, aesthetically-pleasing installation job that did not domino into the extra work I had been dreading. I am very relieved and very happy with the job. We will not hesitate to call Spencer again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! ORIGINAL REVIEW: We are new to California, so I have been looking to Yelp and other review sites to help find people who can fix issues with the house we bought. That's how I found Spencer of Omega Technology. The positive reviews were spot on. Our house has relatively old wall-mounted TVs, surround sound, receivers, etc. The house seller's IT guy suggested my husband swap receivers in 2 rooms so my son could connect his game system where he wanted. Big mistake. So many cords and equipment! My husband was confounded by the mess. IT guy said he would come back as did cable guy, but they stood us up. We went months without the TVs hooked up. Spencer saved the day! He immediately responded to my Yelp message. Arrived on time, which hasn't been the case with a lot of other contractors we have used. Even wore booties over his shoes without our asking to protect our floors. Sorted out and reconnected everything, got surround sound working, showed us how to use it, and even emailed us the information so we wouldn't forget. Come to find out, the seller's IT guy incorrectly said the newer receiver could be connected to my son's TV. Spencer figured it all out very quickly, was very nice and professional, and his fee was very reasonable. Avoid Omega Technologies unless you want multiple unanticipated repair calls. We have had numerous difficulties with our AV system. We have paid Omega over $2,350 to install and make numerous repairs/adjustments. We paid an original installation cost of $1,249, most of which was for labor. We have paid over $1,000 of unanticipated additional costs for 5 extra separate visits from original installation. These visits took time from work, and increased our stress level. We found Omega Technologies from an internet search for audio-video companies in Huntington Beach in February 2015. Spencer Smith, who appeared to be a very young and polite man, came to a house we were interested in purchasing to check out the existing speaker system. He was wearing an Omega company shirt. He did not identify himself as the owner of this recently established company. We believed him to be an employee of a larger company, with senior people who could help troubleshoot any problems. We did not find out the business was owned by Spencer, plus one partner, until approximately 1.5 years into our dealings with Omega. He was not a paid employee of a large company. We endured difficulties hearing dialog clearly, one of the many problems after the initial installation. We have had Omega out at least two times to adjust the sound level of the system so we could hear dialog clearly. We paid them over $210 for these two visits just to "fix" the sound. We also needed to take time off from work for these visits. After the first visit we could still not hear dialog clearly, and we had a "boom-boom-boom" from the sub-woofer on drama shows that shook the room. Neither attempt was successful. Omega claimed that unless the original signal from the cable box was 7.1, then no sound would come out of the bass/sub-woofer. The Music Channels from our cable box do not come out 7.1, so Omega said that it would not be possible to get any bass out of the sub-woofer for the Music Channels. Completely upset and dissatisfied, we had a different company come in to see what they could do to "fix" the sound so we could hear dialog. They requested the manufacturer's remote for the Yamaha, and by remixing the output levels of the central front speaker (used primarily for dialog), the surround sound, and ensuring that it was on 7-Channel Stereo output, they completely "fixed" the sound in less than 30 minutes. Furthermore, it has never sounded better, more crisp with perfectly balanced bass since inception! This was done by simply remixing the sound in the Yamaha. We can now hear dialog clearly, and we get bass out of the sub-woofer with the same Music Channels that Omega claimed was not possible. Omega installed the system, but we had multiple problems and failures, and huge escalating stress, and at no point was this installation a "seamless" installation. We have requested a refund of the $210 we paid for Omega for the last two visits to "fix" the sound/dialog/bass problem because Omega did not fix these problems. Omega has declined to refund this amount. Another company was able to completely "fix" the sound in less than 30 minutes, for a system they did not install, we gave Omega the $95 bill and contact information for this service call and they still won't refund our $210. read more

It took him about an hour and 15 minutes but he only charged me for an hour and refused my offer to pay him for the extra quarter hour.
