Our practice style is designed to relieve the stresses, strains, and pains of modern lifestyles. You'll practice breathing deeply, listening to your body, and making healing choices. Slower pace and longer holds in poses help you build strength, release tension, and steady your mind. As you learn to join breath, intention, and movement, you might just find a doorway to your spirit. Our classes are not just for the fit and flexible. We focus on functional movements to help you mobilize and strengthen your joints, relieve chronic pain, and prevent injury. Our classes are great for people with high blood pressure, anxiety, scoliosis, hypermobility, low back pain -- that's right, pretty much everybody! We help highly motivated men and women get strong, steady their minds, and find balance so they can handle life's chaos with strength and grace. If you are highly motivated for change, welcome home!
History
Established in 2010.
Omaha Power Yoga originally opened in 2010, before expanding and moving to our current location at Countryside Village.
In 2015, the studio was purchased by a new owner, featuring all new staff and new classes, alongside a new mission of "attending to the needs of the moment" is what makes your experience at our studio special.
When you come to our classes, you are not just here to sweat it out and leave it on the mat. You are learning important mindfulness skills that you will carry out with you into the world.
Increasing our physical strength is just one of many ways that we empower ourselves and others, and we are honored to share our practice with the community.
Meet the Business Owner: Suzanne D.
To me, the goal of yoga is awareness of the present moment, wakefulness, and radical authenticity: all things the human mind likes to avoid. That's why yoga says quiet the mind, get still and be true, and listen to the intuitive wisdom of the body, not the learned intellect of the mind.
I love yoga because it doesn't ask me to believe anything, it asks me to feel. That's why I am a yoga teacher. I'm grateful everyday that I have students to teach. Teaching and practicing yoga gives me license to be more of what I am: intense and passionate and free.
