Ok this covers a lot of bases. 1. When we built our house in 1995 ODW did the garage door install and subsequent maintenance. No complaints at all. 2. After thirty years it came time to replace the garage doors. ODW did the project. Again perfect outcome. On time, on budget and the work was first rate. 3. We are now at the point where we need to start replacing our original windows. We just had them out to replace three windows and an entry door. Again terrific work, on time and on budget. This company will gourmets way to price gouge their customers. I located the same exact parts, from the same exact manufacturer, for less than half of what they charged me. The lift master products are garbage and after only 3 years the sensors had to be replaced. The tech actually said that they were garbage. A sensor replacement later and they gouged me for $634! Got a call the day after we signed the contract saying that they had incorrectly done the quote (the quote and contract and had not included labor fees). they said that they were unable to complete the work. My 48-year-old, wooden, electric garage door literally split apart and came off the track one morning about 8:30 AM. ODW servicemen arrived in about 45 minutes and set it back in place (enough to keep out the birds and burglars). By noon, I had ordered a new door and scheduled the installation. I had these guys come out to fix my garage door. When the repair man showed up I showed him that the spring broke AND that the two cables on either side of the door were broken, AND that the bottom wheel fell off our door. He fixed the spring and that is fine, however, he just threw the wheel back in assuming that it would be fine and did not address the cables. So 10 days after I paid $165 for them to fix what I thought was the whole problem I am stuck with an inoperable garage door again and they won't come back out to fix it without charging us again. This was a very frustrating process for us. Our garage door broke, and they sent a new employee to evaluate and determine the issue, then they ordered parts for the fix. Sent a different employee out to fix 3 days later, and we were advised the wrong parts were ordered and needed to come back. A third person was sent the final time, diagnosed it differently than the other two (we got a separate story each time as well as cost) and were told we were overcharged for what needed to be done to fix our problem. Yes the door ended up being fixed....but according to the last employee, we paid significantly more than we needed. read more

On June 17th, Paul came out to measure for some glass replacement that we needed to have done on our windows. We had just moved into our home two days prior, but there was plenty of space to measure the windows that needed to be replaced. We of course apologized for the mess. Paul seemed very understanding and was great to work with. He was very respectful when he came out to the house. That is where the positive aspects end. It took over a week (June 25) to get the estimate e-mailed to me. It was e-mailed to me by Mike, not Paul, which I found odd. I signed it and sent it back that same day. I then had to contact Omaha Door and Window because I had not heard anything in two weeks. I had to leave a message. When I was called back, I was told that I needed to sign another piece of paper and was apologized to by Paul because he had been on vacation for a week. This was July 6th. He also explained that it had taken a while to find my paperwork because he had just gotten back from his vacation, and his desk was a mess- similar to "the situation in your house." Yes, he actually commented on the clutter in my house even after we had apologized for it. Remember, there was plenty of room for him to do his job. Fast forward to July 13th. I get a call from Paul to get the downpayment for the work to get scheduled. I obliged, and gave him my credit card number. He then said he would get back to me with a date to come get the windows measured to order the glass for replacement. He said that "if I don't call you, go ahead and call ODW and ask to get scheduled." I found that quite odd as well, especially after I had already given him payment information. In retrospect, know I should not have given him my credit card information until measuring was scheduled. I gave them another two days to call me and schedule. When I ended up calling, I again, had to leave a message. This time I just told them to cancel my order. Thankfully, they have not charged me for anything yet. I'm sure that information also got lost on Paul's desk. All things considered, it's been nearly a month and no one scheduled someone to come measure for the windows. I did receive a call from Mark apologizing, but at that point, I had given them plenty of chances to get this right. read more

I called the service department because my garage door would only open 8 or 10 inches, unless I held the button down. There were no trouble shooting questions. They sent out a service technician. He was very pleasant and helpful. All he did was unplug the machine, wait a few seconds and plugged it back in. Once he did this the opener worked. He lubricated the hinges and charged me $79. I feel foolish for paying $79 for something that someone could have explained to me over the phone. The service technician was great, very professional. But I feel the person I talked to on the phone failed me in this case. read more

I ordered a new storm door for my back porch the same week I closed on my house early November. The existing door didn't close well and had a doggy dog cut into it, one of my new neighbors had mentioned raccoons in her yard, so I didn't want them coming on to the porch. The salesman was very upfront that it would take a little longer than normal to get because they were behind with all the storm damage this past summer and fall. He pointed to one and only one door option saying this would work for the space. My door finally arrived and was install Feb 2. The installer said something like I don't know why they sold you this door, it's not the right type of door for this opening. Which for $750 pissed me off. He went to work, getting it installed complaining about the cold, and the fact that the door was at the top of the steps (definitely something that the salesman had to have noticed). He finished and showed me where he had to remove the edging around my siding and a header above the door. Then handed me the balance. I asked about finishing the edging, 'oh I can't do that'. I said to invoice me for the bill and called the office to say that edging was removed and not replaced. When would someone be out to finish? She scheduled the same guy to come back, and I was there when they came. There was snow on the ground, and he would need space for his saw, to cut the edging, could they come back again another day. The same gentleman that installed the door said: "I should have done this when I was here, but I didn't have the material". I offered to move my car from the garage to the street so they could set up their tools in there and work out of the snow and cold. Apparently not good enough, wanted to come back another day. Was rescheduled again. The next day it was scheduled was snow, so the office called to move the appointment again. So today 25 days after the install, they are at my house doing the finishing work since it is outside, and I am at work. He called to tell me they were there, that they would "do their best, but it wasn't going to look good". I will withhold judgment on how it looks until I go home. However, at this point, I believe I could have gotten a door at a home improvement store and had a handyman install it for a lot less and in a quicker time frame. I originally chose ODW because this was on the outside on of my house and I wanted it done professionally. What a joke. read more

I hired their services to fix a broken overhead garage door, and from start to finish, they were fantastic: The first person I contacted on the phone was friendly and efficient. He gave me a quote for the repair over the phone, took my phone number, and though he couldn't give me an exact time, he told me the repairman would call me before he came over. That's exactly how it worked. The repairman (Gary) called me, reached my house about 15 minutes later, fixed my problem (and another minor issue with the door), and charged me exactly what they quoted me. So far, they've replaced the patio door and the windows in two bedrooms and our master bathroom. Our sales associate, Chris, is very professional, and explains the process and options without pressuring into something we don't need. Their installers have also been very professional and fast at removal and replacement. ODW's pricing is fair as well. I had service done to my garage door. Omaha door and window were the installers. They came out to adjust my door that wouldn't close or open. The man made some adjustments to the dials on the motor. It worked for a day, I paid 90 dollars cash for 5 mins of their time . He charged 85 but didn't have change and never offered to pay me my 5 dollars back . The door doesn't work a day later. I'm hesitant to have them adjust it again because they advised me that a second call would be up to the technician to decide if they would charge again to adjust what should have been fixed the first time. I can afford to have multiple visits. Just fix it the first time. This place is expensive and apparently not worth the money spent. I'd like a refund. read more

I called several highly rated garage door companies, based upon Yelp reviews, and Omaha door and window is the only one who called me back. Their sales team was very knowledgable and helpful in picking out a design. I knock them down a star because they told us he job would be done in 4-6 weeks but it wasn't done until just over 7 weeks. very unhappy with their service. First time called, a representative says the opener I had is too old and they can only replace them. I was on something else so did not order it. Months later, I called, they said they can come and try to fix. They charge $87 regardless, plus labor and parts. I thought they can fix it. However, the man came and just listened for less than 10 seconds and told me I need to replace the whole opener. And I need to pay $87 because he showed up!!! What ?!! Why not just tell me over phone that I need just buy a new opener? Plus, a new opener costs only less than $200. I paid them $87 for less than 3 minutes and just get an advice: replace it. What I learned from this is when you just have a mechanical part, remoter, or sensor issue, go do some research yourself. You should be able to fix it yourself with much less cost. We called to get a service call scheduled and were able to set up an appointment between 9 and 1pm on a Saturday. After waiting until 12:30pm to call and check on when the service person may arrive, I was assured I was the next stop on his list. Nope... they never showed up. I would not recommend a replacement contract with a firm that fails to preform quality work, fails to repair to its work, fails to use quality caulk, fails to caulk around it's work when wrapping window frames and fails to take responsibility for the poor workmanship of the independent contractors they hire. Three different technicians claimed they adjusted our garage door after installation. None of them fixed the pulleys that are too close to the top corner of the door. They catch when the door opens and closes. Trying to get them to stand behind their warranty is virtually impossible. My experience with the salesman was great, but the process was horrible! We ordered our windows in summer expecting they would be there by the time our daughter was born in late January!! They told us 12 weeks it ended up being 5 months! They acted like it wasn't a big deal! Then out of all the windows our daughters was late. Then their were issues with the screens. The week before our daughter was due they were installing it! As soon as they finally installed it they were asking for their money. One manager told us they would give a discount for all the issue and that never happened! They couldn't call and be nice about all the issues when you spend $30,000 on windows, but they had no issues calling and asking for their money! Bad experience! I had a sales rep come out and quote me. He checkedd stock and said it would be in, in three weeks and a deposit would be needed to order them. Three weeks later, the panels are not in stock and the price more then doubled for replacements. We had this company replace windows and a sliding glass door for our home. Installation was subcontracted to an excellent crew that did a great job. Problems started after installation. A wrong window was ordered and installed in one of the rooms. This was pointed out before installation. When the crew called to confirm, they were told to install it anyway. The sliding door and window trim were not stained as agreed upon with their sale representative. When I called to discuss the problems, the person seemed genuinely concerned and acted like he was going to help. He never called back like he said he would. I called again and was given the run around. Eventually I spoke to someone with "authority" (someone claiming to be VP of Sales). He stated he believed everything was completed as agreed. I pointed out the incorrect window was ordered and how the quote stated clearly the type of window that would be installed. He continued with, "the window is installed and work is complete". Spoke to him about how nothing was stained. Again, work is done as specified by the quote. Since it was a quote, not a contract, arguing is rather tough. Also, the quote is written very vaguely with reference to the verbally agreed upon work. We felt the sales representative was trustworthy and true to his word. Boy, were we wrong. So, if you choose to do business with this company insist on a contract that lists everything you want and talk about with the sale representative. In my experience, they do NOT want to sign a contract so they can pull the bait and switch after something is installed. Also note, I spoke to some folks in the construction/home improvement industry. They told me the sales representative we dealt with is notorious for doing stuff like this and that most complaints from customers were his customers. I'm still fighting my fight after 3 months. We had a garage door opener and keypad installed this summer. We had to have a custom system put in because of a cross beam in the garage and they were so helpful and quick. The keypad and laser system are great and there are additional measures in place to keep the door from closing if someone should be in the way. Overall, excellent service. read more

Omaha Door and Window replaced my windows in my home. Overall the product and service was excellent. The lead installation person, Dave, was especially top notch quality talent. I also really liked the Bennington windows and Clearview glass. Omaha Door was the more expensive of the 3 bids I received, but they try hard to please the customer. You must be a little patient, however. The only minor negative was dealing the office lady over the phone who sets up the appointments. She was not exactly pleasant. My garage door opener broke and although I knew it would cost more than buying elsewhere, I went to ODW for a replacement. They charged me $40, at least 3-4 times what it would cost me online, but I figured I was paying for their expertise in programming it. The opener only worked for a couple of weeks and then died. So back I went to ODW and they gave me a replacement, which I thought was decent of them. That was until the replacement died shortly after that. So, I went back, got ANOTHER replacement and it only worked for a month or so. Finally, I called again recently and they now have a semi-retired worker named Leroy who is their garage door opener guru, apparently. He was a very nice man and told me the chip in the remote was defective. I did not have the receipt but told him I had bought it & exchanged it within the last 18 months at the most. He did not say I was lying but told me that the date stamp in the unit said 2004! I don't really care what year it was from but do not expect to pay more than premium prices for something that doesn't work. They then offered to sell me ANOTHER remote for $40! I went online and spent $12, including shipping, and got a better remote that works great. What they sold at extremely inflated prices was clearly inferior. They sent a guy out to replace a broken spring in my garage door on a ridiculously hot day. $161 and he was done in half an hour flat, no BS or upselling. First, be prepared for sticker shock. I thought my residential door wasn't really going to be that special...but apparently it's made is because for a simple door I was quoted $1800.00. Yes, you read that right....So, then get ready for the bait and switch...after SIX weeks, the sales manager called and said that the size of the door was so special that they would have to make it in fiberglass or something...and I would have to shell out another $300 for the door. I told him where to put it and he finally agreed to "kindly" not charge me extra for my incredible door. Now it's been 3 months since I placed the order and I called and the scheduler said that they were still months out because June was so rainy. REALLY!!!! For a stinkin' door.
