Rosella's is a sponsor so they gave everyone a Christmas bread on the way out!

We had a great time seeing A Christmas Carol here. It was my first time at OCP, but this play is an Omaha tradition and for good reason. Buying the tickets was a breeze over the phone and we picked up the tickets at will call the night of the show with no issues. Parking was a breeze, there's plenty of space in the lot. Even after heavy snow storm the day before, it was clear. The theatre and playhouse was decorated beautifully for Christmas, trees all around and lit garland, it was magical. There were 2 bars, but had really long lines if you didn't get there quickly enough. They had specialty drinks, non alcoholic options, coffee and cocoa, and some sweet treats. I had to get a coffee at intermission and it was only $2, a great deal! They had Mrs Cratchit's coffee which was coffee + Bailey's, which would've been fun too. The play was wonderful! I even teared up at the end when Scrooge became a nice person. All the actors were incredible, and the children were so precious, they all worked hard to put on a good performance. The theatre itself had comfy seats, a decent amount of leg room, and felt roomy even though it's a small venue (500ish people). On the way out, we all got to take home a special Christmas bread from Rotella's, I can't wait to dig into it!

I just love the Omaha community Playhouse! Productions are always first rate. The facility is located just north of Dodge and East of 72nd St. Founded nearly 100 years ago there is a tremendous momentum to support up-and-coming individuals that are interested in theater and an ongoing entrepreneurial spirit, supporting diversity and community initiatives by the cast and crew alike. Theater classes are available along with internships. Kudos to all the individuals that make this possible including the generous benefactors. We enjoyed the last of the 2022/2023 season show, called Respect which focused on the women, their music, and their stories over the past half century. Such talent in Omaha is just amazing! The theater itself offers complementary off street parking but it can be tight particularly if there's more than one event scheduled for the evening so prepare accordingly. Convenient drop off at the door for folks needing special assistance is also a plus. The lobby area has Will Call , coat check, along with a full bar for your convenience. Tickets previously purchased through TicketOmaha will be changing in the not too distant future, and I would encourage that you stick for the moment to the paper tickets and pick them up at will call as there seems to be some IT connectivity issues within the theater that prevent you from bringing up your electronic tickets, sometimes! Luckily, Will Call will print out your tickets if you have the pertinent information associated with the purchase. I would add that the seating configuration hasn't changed to keep up with taller people and might be something they need to consider for future renovations. 2023/2024 season sales are just beginning and are available either at the theater or online. Check out the shows that run from late fall through middle of next summer. Home of such famous individuals include Henry Fonda, Marlon Brando, and many others. Highly recommend you check out this wonderful asset in the community, which is rated one of the best in the country.

I had the good fortune to see two shows this fall, one in each theater. Of course "A Christmas Carol" is an Omaha staple, an annual tradition for many, and had been on my bucket list for years. This year I finally took the plunge catching the matinée on opening weekend. I was worried that the balcony seats wouldn't be that great but they were perfect. We had no trouble hearing or seeing the action on the stage. It is a long play, clocking in at over 2 hours with a short intermission. We got there early to get a decent parking spot and had no difficulty when leaving. The playhouse was beautifully decorated with Christmas trees for the season. Cast members hung around in the lobby afterwards chatting with people and posing for pictures. I also attended the popular interactive Beatles tribute, "Yesterday & Today", on the smaller Howard Drew stage which seats about 200 but again, not a bad seat in the house. This is the 11th year for this show led by Billy McGuigan, his two brothers and a few other talented musicians. Fantastic show and experience! This is a must-see for people of all ages who even remotely like The Beatles' music.

    A really BIG nose prop.

Not because of the shows per se, but because of the community this place has created. The employees who make it all happen. I'll talk specifically about tonight. Went to a show, and had an issue with my ticket. This issue was an issue I created by making a mistake when the tickets were transferred, but Steelhouse employees were so quick and helpful. They took something that could have ruined a whole evening, and they resolved it within minutes. That alone was impressive and very kind especially since the mistake was not on their end. I was greeted by familiar faces, some who seemed to even remember me back. My next experience was specifically upstairs in the balcony. I'm currently expecting and needed to sit down and rest for a bit due to some complications I've been having. The employees checked on me regularly and went way above and beyond to make sure I was well cared for. I'm not special, they did this to everyone there. I saw paramedics with a gentleman, and shortly after, an employee took the rest of his evening to sit next to this ill person and assist them until I can only assume their ride arrived safely. The janitors were kind, and picked up very quickly after people's accidents left and right. Their work does not go unappreciated by people like me, who could've slipped and fallen on the spilled drinks along the way to and from the GA floor. Even the elevator greeters genuinely seemed excited for you to experience all this place had to offer. The cops that nod your way as you exit the venue are kind as well. This place doesn't appear to be an establishment of employees, but a community built upon responsibility and caring for one another - what a venue should be. I will be back, and I cannot wait to greet the faces of those who work so hard to make simple concerts so so special and memorable in ways that you just don't find just anywhere.

The service is too notch and plenty of ushers do walk you directly to your seats. There are at least four bars from what I saw (one in main hallway and three in the seating/stage area). There were plenty of bartenders as well. They have a coat check in and there's plenty of space to stand around before the show starts. My only complaint is the seats are small foldable chairs and connected to each other so you can't move them at all and you can be touching elbows or bottoms depending on the size of people

Seats are comfortable and between that, the music, and the wine I was practically lulled to sleep. Restrooms are nice and clean and large enough to keep the line during intermission from becoming completely ridiculous. Another great thing about intermission is you can refresh your wine supply in a sippy cup you are permitted to bring into the theater with you. I also really appreciate how friendly everyone is here. It's easy getting your tickets and there are helpful individuals to assist you in finding your seats. Between the beautiful and clean venue, the amazing shows they offer, and the friendly service, this is a great place for a fun date night in Omaha.

Each floor here has its own bar and the 3rd floor also has restrooms the 2nd does not. Most of the seats her have a great view its really impossible to not have a good view of the stage. 1st loge is my favorite. I feel I get full view of the entire stage from a higher up vantage point The acoustics are perfect. The temps are about always perfect not hot not cold. Of all the cities I have been this is for sure my favorite venue for performing arts. Maybe because its home and feels comfy, but looking at all the bonuses nope. This place is a GEM!!!

There was an "after party" where we were able to stay to listen to Christopher Allen on the piano and Fullana on the violin play a few pieces. I'm glad we stayed to experience it! There's a large area on the second floor where tables and chairs are set up for conversations and presentations. The check in and security was smooth and simple, they have metal detectors which I appreciate for safety. We had lots of help from the patrons to help us find our seats. My husband surprised me with 2nd row seats for the show, it was amazing being that close to the performance! The drinks were just okay. I wanted a coffee at intermission and when I asked what coffee they serve, she said "decaf," which is as a little annoying. I want to stay awake which is the purpose of coffee, and I still don't know if it's a good coffee or simple Folgers. We opted to share a glass of Chardonnay, served in a plastic cup with a lid. It felt like I was a toddler sipping from the cup, so I probably wouldn't get a drink to have during a presentation again.

Before the play started, the lobby was filled with a vibrant crowd that I assume were regular theater goers in the Omaha area. I went to a Friday show, so the house was packed. Seats are first come, first served. So keep that in mind if you decide to use the restroom or arrive later after seating opens up. The play and cast was amazing. I heard from the regulars that this theater focuses on modern and cutting edge plays, which was in line with my experience. I paid $45 for my ticket, which I found to be reasonable compared to what I can expect to pay for theater in other cities around the country. Overall, I had a great experience! I do admit that we pretty much knew that going in, but it was before the Internet really existed so we probably knew about it from The Reader. But, about the theater - it's really a special place, there is a bar with a nice selection of canned drinks (alcohol and not) and cocktails. I think they also have cookies. We saw a play last night, it was 80 minutes, no intermission, one-man performance. Absolutely amazing - The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me. This is something that you would see in The City, you know, edgy and sophisticated and deep, but also so funny. There is only ONE problem with the Blue Barn. Luckily that is where they were headed, as I had no idea. Lastly, although the theater is beautiful, the armrests need refurbishment. My seat's armrests (as well as the rest of my party's seats) had several nailheads sticking up, so that your sweater or other delicate fabric would get snagged repeatedly.
