Om Oasis Studio in downtown monterey is a lovely community. The instructors each bring a different energy to their classes- but the passion for running a great class is shared. What a lovely studio! There's not a lot of parking up front but depending on timing there's lots of parking in neighborhood surrounding. The vibe is calming here and you feel peaceful both before and after class. Tastefully decorated and the layout makes this studio feel spacious. Plentiful with props (they have ALL the things) I do wish the cubbies were inside the actual room you practice in. I do end up taking phone and keys/wallet inside studio but would feel comfortable if cubbies were in studio to leave there. Instructor lead a great class and I felt so relaxed after. Speaking on behalf of my sister who let me know her recent experience the other day, it was not the best. Not too long ago she did a class with the instructor jordan who was wonderful and it was an amazing experience for being a beginner. However, this next time that she went, she had a class with the instructor Margy. Margy gave off a very unwelcoming vibe, my sister brought her friend along for her very first Pilates class, and it was an unpleasant experience. Margy was very rude in her directions and would stop the class to correct her friend, which of course critiques are always welcomed but it's in the manner and tone that you're speaking to someone that matters, especially in a beginner's class, not everyone is going to be a fast learner. The studio itself is great and has great instructors, we just wish that Margy would have had more of a nicer and welcoming approach. read more

Om Studios is a magical little oasis tucked into downtown Monterey! I take the Heated Flow classes on Saturday morning and Tuesday evening and Hannah is an amazing instructor. Not only does she take you through an amazing workout but also weaves in different themes into her classes which add a really inspiring element. I love that the classes are challenging while also greatly helping me stretch and improve my balance and strength. The studio is also beautiful and evokes a calming positive vibe. I love this place! They have hot yoga and it's not as hot as bikram which I can't do anymore. lol! The classes are challenging and a great workout! I love being able to stretch, focus on core and balance. The community is friendly. They have social events such as a Womens Circle, sound baths and retreats. Just show up! They have yoga mats for free loaners and clothing for sale. I love it when you can grab a loaner mat for free. Yoga room has no mirrors but you get used to it. No showers. Two bathrooms. They also have Pilates reformer machines and the classes are small so you get more assistance on form. I haven't tried it yet but the teacher is excellent when I walk by into my yoga classes! This workout is a great compliment to my HIIT training at The Camp Transformation! read more

Om Studios deserves the 5 star ratings it garnishes. My lack of star is aimed mainly at their limited pilates classes and parking. Lindsay and her staff have a stellar reputation for their skilled and positive staff. It's a fabulous vibe when attending classes at Om. The space itself is well appointed and clean. Yoga is by far what their reputation has been built on and there's quite a variety to choose from and several options on time. With Pilates...not so much. Their Pilates instructors are excellent and I have enjoyed each of their variations each one brings to the classes. They only have 9 reformers and classes are in an open area that is a main thorough fare that people in other classes walk through while pilate classes are going on. That's kind of a bummer. Like exercising in the lobby while people chat and socialize around you. The tiny strip center they are located in has VERY limited parking (they only have 5 spaces assigned to them, one being handicapped). There is street parking if you're attending class before 9:00 am, after that, when surrounding businesses open, parking is difficult. NEVER park in an undesignated space in that parking lot or you will get a note IMMEDIATELY by one of the other businesses telling you NOT to park there. It's also odd to me the owners of the center saw fit to improve the parking lot by repainting the parking space lines and write the names of the businesses on said spaces but neglected to repair the pond sized pothole in the middle of the parking lot. Om Studios is a great place to workout and worth attending despite these inconveniences. Just be aware they exist. read more

I just found Om Studios at the beginning of the year and I am hooked. They offer a variety of different classes to fight your mood and style. I have enjoyed the back to back barre and yoga classes three days a week as much as I can and LOVE that is fits with the school drop of schedule. All the teachers I have experienced are knowledgeable in both anatomy and the spirituality of practice and this provides confidence that I will not get injured. It is always clean, the staff is professional and friendly and I am so glad I found Om Studio as part of my self-care and fitness routine. Highly recommend! read more

Since my first review I have been coming to Om Studios 4-5 times a week for about 2 months. I got a 3 month unlimited barre/yoga pass and it's one of the best things I've ever done for myself. The studio is so peaceful to me. I like the minimalist vibe while still feeling super cozy and welcoming. I have fallen in love with yin style yoga just from testing out all the different classes. I highly recommend getting an unlimited pass and just trying out as much as you can so you can figure out what works best for you. I'm going to try a barre class next week and am excited. This is just a beautiful place and I'm glad that I found it. read more

Om Studios in Monterey was a nice option for me to do a drop in class. I really liked the overall ambiance of the room and the environment was comfortable, quiet and welcoming. I took a Sunday evening class with Justin and I really liked the way she ran the class. One small item that detracted from my experience was when the class started the music was lyrical and emotional, which I felt took away from a meditative practice. When I entered the Om space the music was relaxing but changed when the class started to a soft pop mix. I do hope this would be considered as something to be rethought for future classes...but I understand it's an opinion of the feel of the room which may be what the teacher is wanting. I would enjoy the class again pending this small distraction! Overall, a lovely experience for multiple levels. read more

Peaceful and clean studio space to just do your practice with other good people. sign up is super easy and I think there's a class for everyone. unlimited classes per month are cheaper then I've seen elsewhere and there's a great variety of classes per day. In October, Om Oasis moved from Lighthouse Ave. to 631 B, Cass Street in Monterey. This lovely and hip studio offers Yoga, Spin classes, Pilates Reformer Sessions as well as Massage Therapy. It's not just a Yoga Studio but a Wellness Center... offering personal training and nutrition consulting as well. You will find a class just right for you with these enthusiastic instructors - Vinyasa Flow, Power Yoga and Karma Yoga (a donation based yoga class) are some of the classes offered. There is a little boutique as you walk in and I scored a one of a kind necklace handmade by Sarah. Just precious! During their Open House I picked up a great deal... a 30 Day pass for $30... New yogi here! Walking in and asking questions about something new is always intimidating. From the get go, as soon as I walked in, I felt welcomed! I often visit relatives in the area and wanted to take a yoga class. I found Om on Yelp and booked a class online. It was super easy and $14 is a great rate for a drop in. I took the heated vinyasa with Gennica and it was fantastic. The class was challenging yet accessible and the studio is comfortable and clean. I'll be back next time I'm in town! read more

In my opinion, It takes litte more than just having nice yoga instructors in order to establish a successful yoga studio. I expect professionalism and organization in any business, including Yoga studios (even in Monterey!) and Om Studios didn't give any of that except friendly staff. When I went to the Carmel location, the instructor who handles a sign-up sheet and fees, was not knowledgable about membership fees. I was only told that Sara would contact me but I still haven't heard from her. When I met Sara, she was really nice but don't think she runs a professional business. There is a difference between being nice and being professional... Parking situation is terrible for evening classes at Monterey location. I could possibly walk -30 minutes to go to a class but would like to have an option for driving. There are only 2-3 spots in the lot and they are usually taken by staff and other business. Street parking is usually not friendly in downtown on any evenings. Anyhow two stars are for the nice yoga instructors who work there (one for each) - it was helpful when they gently corrected my poses; however, they don't show all the poses - they only show ~50% of the poses and the rest is done verbally so it was little hard for a beginner, like myself, to follow. Also there are no mirrors in the studios so it is hard to check out my poses - for advanced yogis it wouldn't be a problem but again for a beginner, it's hard to know what I'm doing if I don't see myself. (Nothing narcissistic!) I would recommend this studio if you are more advanced yogi and willing to walk to the studio (for Monterey location) since it's a pain to find parking for evening classes, especially Farmers' Market Tuesday evenings. Also be sure to check out their Facebook page, not only their website, to get all the correct schedules and info. I had signed up the classes for a week on the website but one of the classes was switched to a guest instructor workshop so I ended up wasting time and money. read more

Om Oasis is always full of welcoming, friendly and fun people. When I took my level one teacher training, the staff was always helpful and supportive. The yoga and spin classes are an excellent mixture of cardio and strengthening, and though I haven't tried the Pilates, I have heard great things about the instructor. I have received two amazing massages from Massage Therapist, Ashley. I suffer from lower back pain and Ashley relieved my pain completely. On my initial visit I requested the Structural Body Work massage. Ashley discussed my situation at length and devised a whole body massage that addressed my issues. I left with no back pain and remained that way for nearly a month. Today was my second appointment with Ashley and I received the same amazing care. You can tell she cares about what she is doing. She is very careful with any spots that may be tender or need special attention. I highly recommend her. The studio itself is very nice. I have not taken any classes there but it is clean and well cared for. Hopefully I can try the Barre class sometime soon. I am grateful to have found this wonderful place and Ashley. I started going to Om about a year ago and have fallen in love with this studio and the instructors! I had always belonged to a gym, and wanted something new. I was new to yoga and barre and Pilates and the instructors were all compassionate, encouraging and seemed to all embrace the spiritual aspects of becoming healthier and loving oneself. The studio is clean and zen like and they also offer massage and have events regularly. I even had a surprise bridal barre class that my friends set up and Om was kind enough to run two classes that day so we could have a private class and studio! I love this place. The membership prices seemed a little expensive at first, but every so often Om will have an open house and offer discounts on their class cards and such. Keep an eye on their Facebook page as it will also let you know when they offer free classes. I only ever had the chance to attend spin class here and I thoroughly enjoyed it. 45 minutes of sweating my butt off, and it was walking distance from my place of employment, so the 5:30pm class was oh-so convenient. The employees and instructors are all friendly and helpful, and you start to see the same clients if you go on a regular basis. Oh, and did I mention the owners will sometimes bring in their bulldogs? Sooooo cute. Like I said, I LOVE this place. read more

This studio is amazing. I'd tried yoga about a dozen times over six years, and I just never got anything out of it - until I came here. Originally I came here for the barre, but since the intro deal included unlimited classes, I decided to try a heated vinyasa class with Kiara and it was truly transformative. It was a really great workout, but the mind body thing clicked with me for the first time and I've been doing yoga 3-4 times a week ever since. Sadly, I've since moved out of the area (military), but the framework I got from Kiara still helps me cope with my neck/knee injuries and helps me rebaseline my outlook and reconnect with my body. I even breathe differently now, and my posture has improved. Anyway, can't recommend Kiara enough, and I wish Om the best! read more

I was visiting monterey and love hot vinyasa flow yoga as I am a member at a local studio in my hometown. I researched the area to specifically find a hot vinyasa flow class and found om studios. I thought the environment was very nice but was surprised that the room was not as hot as I am used too. The vinyasa flow was just okay, it didn't seem to flow very smoothly and was a little broken up. I was hoping for a bit more faster and smooth connecting flow that I have found in other hot vinyasa flow classes. I barely broke a sweat and didn't feel like I had a major workout like I usually do. Overall I think it was a good gentle or beginners class. read more

I have been going to Om Oasis yoga, spin and pilates for over two years now. From the moment I walked in the door I felt at home. There is no judgment at Om. I was comfortable despite not being very advanced in my yoga skills and all teachers, especially Sarah, have helped me grow in my practice. I have also become huge pilates fan! Super disappointed by the 6:30 pm Yoga class last night. The yoga instructor doesn't do the same thing so that you can imitate her. She instructs but doesn't necessarily do all the poses. Even though I have been to numerous yoga classes I couldn't keep it. If the instructor isn't doing the pose so that you can imitate - wouldn't that pose be called "lazy yogini'? Also, I got there at 6:30 pm on the dot and was the LAST person to join the class. Here I feel that the person signing people in should have made the call that the class couldn't effectively hold one more person. You can't just take and take and take people just for the sake of it. I had to place my mat directly in front of the entryway, so the best view I got? The curtain! I left after 35 minutes. I would LOVE my money back so that I can go to Bikram Yoga on Lighthouse/Central Avenue. Here the instructors are a little more forgiving if you are "new" to the class and/or "new" to the practice. And they actually walk around helping people. read more

I haven't taken any classes here, this is about customer service - or lack of it. Tried to book a series of private classes for a client. Several phone discussions later, the owner Sara says she is just trying to fill one final time slot, then she will send contract. That was 3 days ago now, I have left multiple phone messages, none of which have been returned. I need to finalize the classes for my client, ready to put a deposit down. But apparently Sara doesn't want my business or my client's money. So I went with Seaside Yoga Sanctuary, run by a very professional woman, Laura, who got me a contract within two hours of our conversation. Very courteous, professional, and willing to cater to the needs of my client. Great yoga resume, too. Wonderful! Bottom line: If Sara had told me they couldn't do the private class, no problem. Instead, she kept me on the line for two weeks, in which time I could have l booked someone else. But my time was wasted with follow up calls and multiple unreturned voice messages. read more
