We hired Olympic to install a natural looking pond on our property. The pond looked fine when the work was finished, but we immediately began experiencing issues. First, we were told the cloudy water would clear as things settled down, but the water kept getting more and more cloudy with each passing day. It eventually made the pond look like a mud hole. Second, we had repeatedly asked for planting shelves for water plants, but we failed to notice none were installed (our fault for not noticing this sooner but it was hard to see). Third, when the rains came, the small rocks around the edge of the pond began sliding into the pond as it started collapsing in on itself. We contacted a pond expert to give us his opinion of our pond and when he found out it was installed by a professional he was stunned. He told us our pond was the absolute worst pond installation done by a professional that he had ever seen. He told us the only way our pond could be fixed was to start all over from scratch. He provided us with a long list of deficiencies. The most glaring were: 1. The small waterfall was fed by a pump and the return Olympic installed was located directly under where the waterfall entered the pond. Accordingly, our water was only circulating from the pump to the waterfall, down the waterfall, and then immediately back to the pump. 98% of the pond water was not circulating at all which explains why it kept getting visually worse. 2. The pond walls had a slope to them which guaranteed that the rocks would eventually slip down the slope and into the pond. 3. We had no adequate filter system installed. The list goes on. We immediately retained the services of the pond expert who rebuilt the pond correctly for $50,000. It now functions perfectly, there's clear water, no rock slippage, and proper filtration. Olympic is claiming they built the pond according to our directions. We're not pond experts. We were customers relying on their supposed expertise. Olympic told us that we specifically told them to place the return directly under the waterfall. Why would we say that? To see how far Olympic would take the "we only followed your instructions" argument, I specifically asked them when we were discussing the pond's deficiencies, "Would you build an 8' hole lined with sand?" and Olympic's stunning response was, "Yes, if that's what you want." Seriously? When Olympic came out to look at our pond (which, by then, was already under reconstruction), Olympic's rep would not let my wife talk to explain the deficiencies. He was treating her quite rudely in front of witnesses. When I arrived to participate in that conversation, I found a defensive, rude, and arrogant man standing there. When we told Olympic we were not looking for a full refund, but we wanted something to acknowledge the lousy job they did, they absolutely refused to refund even a dollar. Their argument was they would have been happy to "repair" the pond under their warranty. That's a crock when their position now is that the pond was built to our specifications exactly. Why would they cover anything under warranty if that's their belief? Olympic continues to claim we didn't give them a chance to fix it (fix what...they say it was perfect). First, we gave them no "specifications" other than a natural looking pond that did not look manmade. Second, given how badly the pond was built (the worst the pond expert had ever seen that was professionally installed), we had no faith that Olympic could rebuild the pond correctly. If they had that expertise, they would have built the pond correctly in the first place. We asked them for $10,000 to settle all claims. They claim they did everything per our instructions and they would have fixed all the problems if we had notified them. The fact that they are saying they built the pond perfectly shows they don't accept responsibility for their lousy work. Fair warning if you do business with Olympic. They will blame you for giving them bad directions and then demonstrate they have no ability to do the job they contracted to do. Look at how many 1 star ratings they have. read more

My Wife and I selected Olympic Landscape for our front and backyard landscape. we requested a new patio, fence, rock wall stabilizatio, new plants and trees along with new turf. From the initial plans, to some changes, to the final design, all of our questions were answered to our satisfaction. the construction phase went very smoothly. the whole crew was very friendly and helpful. Asked for help with water feature. After I described problem -- and provided pictures -- was told they could help. The day before appointment they told me they didn't think they could help. Then a rude person arrived, complained about the issue, yanked out the pump, and left. He did NOTHING to fix the problem. Three weeks later an even ruder person arrived to put in the new pump. He refused to cover the cord from the pump -- said that would be "extra cost." ??? Then he left. Problem has NEVER been addressed, water feature is still leaking, and I received a nearly $700 bill. Some of the worst business practices I have seen. I called them when I had problems with the system, multiple $900 water bills from leaks, etc. (Prior owners had Olympic Landscape install irrigation and lighting.) Service person no-showed for May 18 appointment. No one followed up. June 2, I emailed them because they never answer their phone. Robin Rugh responded 3 days later that they were too busy to make it on the 18th and had rescheduled me (without telling me) for June 19 a month after their no-show. She said I would be their "1st appt 8-10am So there are no problems." I took off work that morning again. No show, again. No call. I asked for any records or maps of the irrigation system they installed on my property. Crickets. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS COMPANY. Believe the 26 one-star Yelp and Google reviews. This company is a mess. They are unprofessional, unreliable and do not make customers the priority. Shocking they are still in business. read more

I am quite unhappy with the customer service part of my working with this company. I had them come out in May to do an estimate for repair of my sprinkler system. While looking at the main backflow valve the guy said the folks doing our backflow testing had broken off something. When he asked who does this for us I said Olympic has always tested it. He quickly changed to say it just happens with age. The repair people came as expected in late June and were very good to my dogs who needed to go out sometimes during the day. . I have nothing but good things to say about those two men. During the repair one man broke a handle or something near the valve and told me right away. He said it would cost $45 more to replace the handle. I agreed and when all finished the man said it took an hour less time and he was happy about that. ( this was on 6/30, the Friday before the long 4th of July weekend and it was a hot day) My problem is with Robin and the final bill I received. It is almost $800 more than my bid. No one said anything about additional cost other than the $45 handle. When I called to ask why, Robin said it was because there was more to repair than expected and my statement says 10 extra hours were billed. My question which no one can answer is when did the additional hours happen? I was home the entire time and they left earlier than expected. In fact the men came back on the 3rd to finish something that had been forgotten and I asked him why the difference and he was shocked and said it should have been less since it was not as much time as expected. He said he'd check and find out why but of course I've heard nothing. Don't bother hiring these folks. I don't feel they are honest. My original bid was $2,100. I paid half up front, and then they charged me another $1,750. read more

Worked for them and was going good. Then winter hit and they layer me off due to no work they said but they hired another person and worked them and fired me for no reason at all. They had promised me work in spring time . Come February they just fired me with no warning or explanation on why. And when I asked why... they told me that there is not enough work for me and to look for another job. read more

We reached out to this group in Jan 2019 to have them come out to see what needed to be done to fix/upgrade our sprinkler system. We're new homeowners and wanted to get a jumpstart before the busy season. I work from home, but the person that came out never knocked on the door. I didn't even know he came except for a door hanger. He never even checked the sprinkler system - just did a backflow test. Fast forward to March and I finally received a bill. I called and talked with the accounting department and after a few minutes, we were able to get another guy to come out and check our system. Two guys showed up a week later, but didn't have time to "figure it out." They marked what they could, but told me someone would reach out to schedule a "troubleshooting appointment." No call. So I ended up calling and got the receptionist this time. She apologized and said that it was her fault - she was trying to get through her list of appointments to schedule. We got a 3rd guy to come out - he was great. He troubleshot as much as he could and promised a quote. Nothing. Nada. Zero follow up. Why do I have to chase a company down to spend my money? Shouldn't they be chasing me? Especially when it's obvious I'm going to have to spend quite a bit of money to fix my sprinkler system? Hard pass. We have used Olympc for all our irrigation services for about 40 years. We will not be in the future. Why? Failure to answer phone calls or return voice messages except via e-mails. Failure to complete repairs is a timely manner. Our repair started on June 28, not finished. Had to call to have them return on July 8. Could not use irrigation system. Second break found and reported to service supervision. Calls and e-mail finally resulted 3 men arriving on August 16. No call before they arrived. Took 3 hours to complete repairs. Irrigation system could not be used while waiting for repairs. Total cost over $1800. read more

I contracted with this company to continue maintaining the landscaping they designed and installed. The design is beautiful but the maintenance is far from good. We asked that they keep everything as good as it looked when they installed it and instead we have received 40 mins a week for a mowing and pay over $400 a month! Our lot is not even a quarter of an acre and that is before you take out the footprint for our house, driveway and sidewalk. In short, most of our yard is hardscaped requiring little to no effort except an annual pressure washing. Do not expect much from this company in their yard maintenance program. read more

RUN - and run far away from these guys..... This company was contacted as I bought a home close-by. I called and left messages (plural) and when I got no call back. I finally emailed - it took them a few days to respond. They offered a date to come out via email and I responded within 5 minutes to confirm. I asked for a time frame which they could not provide so I knew that the entire day was shot. An email from them followed changing it to the following day - I now had had to change my plans AGAIN i.e. work responsibilities...... Then today, I get a casual email telling me that they can't make it on the scheduled date and wants to push me off another week or so.... I am not going to beg any company to take my money. They have zero consideration for customers' time. They need to invest in some scheduling software and stop with all the BS being given to customers, and become more customer centric! read more

Terrible company. Called for an appointment. Was given a date of service. That day came and went, no service technician, no reason why. I call them the best day, they tell me oops they meant Thursday and said Tuesday. Ok sure, fair mistake. Thursday comes and goes, no service technician shows up, no phone call to me saying they wouldn't make it. I feel and leave messages with the company several times, nothing. Finally they email me back saying for some reason the appointment was moved to Saturday. Finally a tech shows up and immediately says we do free estimates, but no troubleshooting is done free. So what is the free estimate? Estimate means you diagnose the issue and tell me how much to fix. The guy just shows up, says he won't do any work without in invoice and these are the prices. Why not just tell me that when scheduling the appointment! He didn't need to see the yard to know how much to replace a sprinkler head or adjust the placement read more

Our Maple Valley, WA water district requires backflow testing annually for our irrigation system. We used to contract with Olympic Landscaping out of convenience to perform the tests and submit the results to the municipality. We lived in our home for 15 years, and for many of those years, the backflow testing would be performed, submitted, and paid for by us without the beauty bark covering our check valve ever being disturbed. (Meaning the test was impossible to have been done.) We questioned Olympic multiple times. Olympic would bill us for their services, and we would pay shaking our heads at the idiocracy of the entire process INCLUDING the fact the Maple Valley Water District was letting this fiasco happen. (Spot audits or contacting customers might be a good idea IF you are really committed to this entire Backflow testing logic...) We sold our home in 2019. Olympic has continued to try to bill us annually, with threatening emails each year requiring our follow-through to tell them to get their act together and leave us alone. An update to my review. After I paid them for work not completed, a senior designer called and asked if he could come out and "make things right". I was surprised, but hopeful. He looked at the project, said it was wrong to have left the fence torn apart, would work on getting it fixed and would add more colorful plants. Then he asked if the final payment could be made. I realized he was just there because he thought I hadn't paid them. I said I had paid them. He said he would get back to us.. Never heard from him again. PLEASE DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. We hired Olympic Landscape to help fix a waterfall flow-path issue with our pond. When I called them to inquire about the costs for their service I was told that it would be $128 trip charge (that only covered the first 30 minutes of actual work) and $98/hr. for each hour over that(WOW!! That is EXPENSIVE but we need it fixed). The service techs showed up at the appointed time of 11:00am, and with my help we quickly figured out that we needed to to patch the left side of the waterfall with concrete(which I had ALL the tools and materials available) so WE mixed the concrete and patched the leaking spot. As they were walking back to their truck to leave at 11:44am I asked them what my bill was going to be? They replied "We don't do the billing" and I replied "OK so I am going to be billed for 45 minutes right?" they said "yes" and they left. I proceeded to do ALL the clean up for the job(because I am not going to pay $100/hr for somebody to rinse out a wheel barrow and put tools away) We received a bill from them of $250!!!! Lets' do the math... $128 covers the first 30 minutes + 15 minutes@$98= $152.50. So I call their billing department and ask HOW they came up with that number and I am told " We have to charge you for both service techs that we sent you" I reply" I did NOT ask for two people and your company did NOT say anything about rates varying based on who you send, so if you decide to send me 7 people I owe you $700/hr for a job that requires one person? Also if you are charging me separate hourly rates for two people(that I did not request, approve, or need) wouldn't that be $128 + $49( 2 people@$98 for 15 minutes) = $177" She agreed that it did not make sense and corrected the bill to $152.50(which is all they were going to be paid by me, even if they refused to correct the bill) I LOATHE COMPANIES THAT PULL STUNTS LIKE THIS!!! It is based on an unethical business philosophy of "overcharge 10 people, 5 of them will pay it without question, 3 will complain yet believe the ridiculous excuse given and pay, 2 of them will complain and REFUSE to pay anything more than what is rightfully owed... We just got over paid for 8 out of 10 jobs!! So why not do it?" read more

Run! I made an appointment with this company for a backflow test. The guy came out, broke a handle and then tried to leave without telling me what happened. When I asked him if we passed the test after he told me that we would get the results in the mail (with no mention that he broke anything) he said couldn't do the backflow test but did not say why. When I grilled him as to why not, he finally said that a handle was broken. He also informed me that it would be $500 to fix. This handle was perfectly fine before he got there. After speaking with another landscaping company and another backflow company BOTH places said that the test could be performed without any problem. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! If I could put zero stars I would. I had called to get an estimate to install a water feature in my back yard. I left messages and emails asking for an estimate. It took over a week to get back to me because they were dialing the wrong phone number. John Sullivan finally came out to my house to give me an estimate back in April of 2020. I was told I would have an estimate ready in a few days. I called back 4 to 5 weeks later and they didn't even start it yet. It's now September and still no estimate. I would not recommend this company to anyone and I definitely tell everyone about this situation when it comes to trusting companies, because this is a perfect example of what home owners dread the most. Companies that don't do what they promised; they flake out and they're untrustworthy. I'm surprised that they are still in business to be honest. read more

My family has used Olympic Landscape 2x, both for jobs in excess of $40k. The second time, we went into the arrangement knowing that their charges are excessive for comparable work performed. We expected their service to make up for the difference. However, when follow-up work was delayed for over 6 weeks, and that secondary effort was inferior to the first, we understood we simply were not a priority for them. We did not expect to be the last person on their list after they got paid. We will not consider them for our next $40k project. read more

Last summer Olympic Landscape designed and executed the back and front yards of my dreams. John Sullivan conceptualized a beautiful plan, including a patio with water feature below the deck, a fire pit with a half-round of seating boulders, and cleaned out all the blackberry bushes filling two areas on the property. The workers were professional at all times, courteous, and talented. The foreman had the boulders in the seating area reorganized three times before he was satisfied with the arrangement. If I did have a suggestion it was incorporated in the design without a ripple. I just turned on my fountain for this year and the water was shooting up too high and two plants in the front were not doing well. Two days after I sent the email Kip was at my home and installed a regulator so that I can adjust the water flow rate whenever I want. Also, two new plants were ordered to replace the two ailing plants. I was living in California when I first looked for a landscaper to work on my Gig Harbor home. My research led me to believe that Olympic Landscape was the best . . . and they are. read more
