We used to go to a u-cut Christmas Tree farm over on Bainbridge when visiting family, but after a knee surgery for one family member, walking around the farm is a little more challenging. We started out at our regular place, but we didn't see much selection, and decided to try this place when we drove by to the grocery store and noticed they had quite a few trees. Couldn't hurt to stop and look, and we're very glad we did! They were great, they had a ton of different varieties of trees, and just as many sizes. If you want something really tall and thick, they've got you covered. Want a Charlie Brown type of tree, they still got you covered. Maybe you've got 20+ feet ceilings, or are wanting a tree as tall as the Capitol building in Olympia, they can help you out. Honestly, the trees were nicer than the ones available at the u-cut lot, and for the same price, why not get the nicest tree available? All the trees were freshly cut, just a day before Thanksgiving and we were there on the Sunday after the holiday. They trim it up for you so the base will fit in your tree stand and remove a few of the branches on the bottom so you don't have to worry about it at home. They helped load it up in the car and were very friendly and helpful. This place is really close for the in-laws, and I think we'll skip the hassle of cutting our own tree down in the future and just come back to Olmsted's! read more

Customer service is horrendous. I called to inquire about a specific item - a woman answered the phone and asked what I was looking for. After asking she responded "I'm too busy" and handed the phone to another associate who verified they carry the item, but wasn't sure if any were in stock and replied "we are really busy right now, can I take your name and number and we will call you back." It's been over a week since I called, and still no return call. I ended up taking a drive up there the same day I called to see for myself. We were the third car in the parking lot, so they weren't busy. The employee was behind the register on her phone in a very relaxed state. After walking around the grounds for 30 mins with no help from employees, I verified the item I was looking for was in stock but was more expensive than other local stores - also, they had very limited selection for what I was looking for. I ended up going to Lowe's and found the exact same item with a wider variety of selections at a way cheaper price, with better customer service. read more

I used to frequent Olmsted nursery, but not again after today's interaction with Sean Olmsted. I purchased a tree for a friend of mine, in memory of her mother. I went to three different nurseries before finding a nicely formed Forest Pansy Redbud at this nursery. I called today to have the tree delivered to my friend's home, and was told the tree could not be found. I was told I could come in and pick out a new tree, and when I asked if they could offer any compensation (discount), it was denied. "It's just a tree", "It's not a big deal", Sean said. If you have ever shopped for the perfect tree, you will understand why this was upsetting.. For someone in the nursery business to be so apathetic about "just a tree" is beyond me. I will never again support this business. read more

I always like acknowledging a great vendor, but it is rare that my wife and I are wildly enthusiastic about one! Such is the case with Olmsted's Nursery for our recent hardscaping and landscaping projects. Every interaction we had with Sean Olmsted and his team was satisfying. They listened to what we wanted, translated it into something better than we expected, and the end result was fabulous. Their foreman Steve is great and the rest of the team is very easy to work with. And very fair pricing. They work efficiently, and were great to have around the property. Olmstead's Nursery just completed a large project on our property and we are so very pleased with the results. I have been wanting to purchase some plants but with the guidelines from the health department regarding the coronavirus, I have been hesitant. I called the nursery and had the greatest conversation with a woman named Elizabeth. I gave her the name of a variety of annuals and perennials I was looking for and color combinations. I even sent her pictures of my pots from last year in hopes of creating a similar theme for this year. She picked out the majority of what I was looking for, charged it over the phone and I was able to do a curb side pickup. I was way beyond thrilled that I could support a small business and have it go so effortlessly. It was so good in fact, that I completed another order for herbs the following week. Outstanding Landscaping company!! Olmsted's is hands down the best experience I have ever had working with a home remodel/repair/landscape company. They laid out the perfect vision for our yard and patio redesign and the results are spectacular. Cute little nursery/market. It's literally on the side of the main road making it very easy to stop in. I discovered my favourite fern here with the help of their friendly staff. I haven't been able to find that same type of fern at other nurseries in the area. I'm just waiting for spring time to go back and get more unique plants! read more

Every time I go here, there's always the freshest fruit. Whatever may be in season! And always cheaper than at grocery stores. The apples are never mealy. Perhaps they just don't stock them, if they're mealy, or something like that. Always crunchy sweet. Y'know how sometimes you buy apples that are cheap and they taste like slightly-sweet soft potatoes? I've never had that happen when buying apples here. They also have cherries when they're in season. And the peaches... I've been burned at some stands where they sell peaches after they're really not sweet anymore, and have become mealy and bland. I've always gotten the sweetest, drippiest, juicy peaches here, when they are available. And their cherries are awesome too, when in season. They also have a nice selection of plants and landscaping materials. We bought our blueberry bush here. And it's thriving. Definitely not diseased or poorly grown. So it came from someone who knew what they were doing. read more
