Haven't been to an Ollie's in a long time, so I was pleased when my husband and I found this one on the way back home to Baltimore. There's a whole lot of "good stuff cheap", just as the store claims - the children's book department is unbelievable! I picked up so many books for my daughter here, and I had to peel my husband out of that department as well. VERY nice selection - you can't beat it. You might find "clearance" stuff here, or things that you had never hoped you'd see again, but it's all good things and nothing is "out of date" - even the food products are pretty safe. The place is on the edge of what looks to be an abandoned/being worked on mall, so the parking lot looks a little creepy - but don't let that deter you. It's worth stopping in. The only thing I kind of didn't like was that the cashier was bullied a little by a store manager for calling for help - apparently she'd called during someone's lunch break or something. Well, sheesh, maybe she's new - cut her some slack. I'm the customer and I'm not offended by waiting, but I AM offended when you treat your employees like that. Other than that snag, our experience was good here. Definitely don't miss the book department, though! read more

Im a fan of these discount stores, but the only thing worth buying was a Master P talking Doll, "uuuhhhh, da na Na na" I thought it would be fun to walk in and try to find a treasure, or a hot York lovely lady worthy of my hand in marriage- I Found neither Although I do enjoy pretending I have ventured into the Island of the Misfit Toys, I do not like visiting the Island of the Misfits sextoys- it could be dangerous. read more

I hate this place and don't know why I keep going back. I always end up spending money on something that is at a really good price.

It's a bargain outlet! You're not going to find top off the line products or even name brands you know at Walmart. What you are going to find is a good deal on items you don't care are top quality. Seasonal decorations are a good example. This trip I had heard they had cheap HDMI cables, you pay $20+ at even Walmart and here I picked one up for less than $10. I haven't bought any myself but they are noted for their area and cut rugs prices. read more

this ollies has a particularly pungent odor...like tires or pesticides or something rank. however, i do love all the good stuff cheap, especially books. you can find recent best sellers for 2 or 3 bucks. sometimes they have fill a basket for $10. and there is a great selection of book for kids, adult, fiction, art, etc. good prices on rugs, housewares, picture frames, and lots of extremely random stuff. read more

Let me start by saying the staff here is usually otherwise wonderful and the manager Chris could not be better! In fact I hope to update my star rating for Ollie's in the future but for now there is one annoying aspect of shopping here that ruins it every-time! As everyone that shops here knows Ollie's has a free club card like everywhere else these days. The problem is that they insinuate that the card will save you money when you shop when in reality it only gets you some occasional special event coupons in the mail a few times a year which would be fine except they usually only apply to a short window of time during a one day event. So if you are into saving 15 cents per dollar in exchange for standing in slow moving lines after fighting your way through a store packed with wall to wall people then you are the perfect Ollie's Army member! (update apparently you do get a 10% off coupon for every 250.00 you spend) For me though its just not worth the aggravation for 15% off. My time and sanity are just worth more to me then the small discount. Which brings me to my reason for the 2 star review. As a salesman of 27 years I know retail inside and out so I am sure that these poor employees have it drilled into there head to sign every customer up as they check out. The problem comes in when you polity say "no thank you" the cashiers just can't let it go! They continue making what amount to snide condescending remarks like "oh I just thought maybe you would be into saving money" and so on. In my case when I reiterate that I have received the coupons in the mail in the past or that the sale events are just to crowded when they happen they always have to have the last word and always implying that its more then that to the program when it just isn't ! My suggestion to the corporate management is to have the cashier ask then let it go if the customer says no or isn't interested. It should never take up the whole conversation at check out. Even better just make it an email list or coupon list and drop the whole card system all together. Just this morning I had a otherwise very nice lady doing an otherwise great job check me out and when she said "I just thought you might like to save money" what that really says to a customer, whether its meant to or not, is "oh you are stupid with your money" when in reality the reason I shop discount stores is that I am frugal and smart with my money! I simply do not want the card! I hope everyone that reads this will add a review after taking note of the unnecessary badgering that occurs each and every time you check out if you don't have or don't want a Ollie's Army card!
