They sell gently used books and it's always nice to see what new and old books! They have amazing books for $6-12 dollars that are typically brand new hard and paperback books! They also have an amazing program where you can bring your old gently used books and then use that for future purposes for more new books or cool events! I've brought in my old books and have been able to buy new Harry potter hardback books! I'm so happy we have this amazing local bookstore. Every month they also have authors talk, book club and events! Love supporting this amazing reading community and our bookstore! Please come on in and stop by and get lost in a new adventure!

It's just (dis)organized enough to maximize your browsing enjoyment. You stumble across unexpected delights in the many nooks and crannies! But if you're looking for a specific something, the kind owners are immediately there to assist... and expound upon similar reads you might enjoy. They're like living, breathing Spotify playlist curators for books. Good ones. Tempest also carries puzzles and a massive selection of movies on DVD. What's on display in the store is only the tip of the iceberg. The rest of the iceberg lives in the owners' garage, we're told -- but they're happy to dig out whatever you request. Sadly, we're only in the area for a few weeks of the year. Most of our time is devoted to skiing and on the days when skiing isn't ideal, seeing friends. But next December, I vow to (1) set aside a full day for a proper browse and chat with the fascinating, brilliant, and well-read owners; and (2) do all our holiday shopping here. I think they do a great job with buying. On the few occasions I've had a specific (and obscure) book on my list that I haven't found, they've offered to order it for me. They've got a great little cafe as well. And the staff is really helpful and sweet. It is my go to place for gift certificates for teachers or folks that I need to get a gift for that I don't know well. This place is a gem! Definitely check it out.

As we (my husband and kids) were driving to our hotel - we passed this cute yellow storefront and couldn't believe it was a bookstore! So we quickly checked-in our hotel, unpacked and went straight to the store. Upon entering we were immediately greeted by a young lady who quickly directed us to where we needed to be. However, the frosting on the cake was the most welcoming, super knowledgeable and ecstatic owner! Elizabeth! What a treat! My daughter who is 14 and a total bookworm met her soul sister! They engaged in a conversation ... and 1.5hrs later, 5 books and a list of places we should visit while in town... we were ready for our VERMONT TRIP! BEST VISIT EVER! If this was an indication of how our trip was going to be, what a treat! You must visit Elizabeth and her store you won't regret it.
