Slate is definitely one of those stores. I stopped in on Christmas Eve just to browse around and I wish I could have bought everything in the place! It is a pretty hipster little store, and everything inside would be both useful to have in your home and serve as a conversation starter with guests. The items are unique, interesting, and high quality. There are kitchen gadgets, bar cart fixings, home decor items, greeting cards, jewelry...the list goes on. It's a great store and fits well with the Church Street aesthetic.

Fabulous selection of home goods, mostly kitchen items, but also candles, soaps, linens, greeting cards, and I'm sure other items I have since forgotten. The problem is I didn't need anything, and we are already stuffed to the gills in our small little home with "stuff" anyway. Did that stop me? No, I bought a cute little bowl, maybe 2-3" in diameter only, that I will use for display purposes only in my kitchen window.

It definitely feels like a boutique that would be in downtown Saratoga Springs or even NYC, not a country road in the Adirondack region. The staff was friendly but not pushy. My mom and I browsed through, enjoying all the pillows, wall art, kitchen items, and even a kids toys/clothing/decor section. We were able to find a few nice gifts and picked up some soap and lip balm for ourselves.
