The type of place that was very common in most towns before the rise of the large chain super markets. I'm not sure how long it's been around, but I suspect quite a while. The market has all the usually things you would expect from a local market. Plenty of junk food, milk, hot coffee and drinks, soda, local papers, sandwiches, ice cream, bread and even some can goods. The market isn't large but manages to fit in a couple of tables where people can sit to eat their donuts, drink coffee and perhaps engage in a bit of conversation or gossiping. Or you can sit out in front of the store, something that seems to be quite popular. A little local market that isn't going to have everything you need but since there really isn't anywhere else in Rockport it usually is enough. A whole lot quicker and more convenient than driving down to Gloucester for a donut or newspaper.

The Gifford's ice cream here is probably a decent choice for those who are craving ice cream, but I wouldn't recommend the sorbets based on my experience.
