Cute little local place! It's a few minutes out of town. Service was quick and they do accept card or cash. I got a small for $8.50 and it was massive! I thought that was a bite much, but I was like "eh, it's local and only open during the summer so it's cool..." then the girl turned around and I was like "Oh wow!!" the chocolate tasted similar to a Wendy's frosty. It was really good. I'll definitely come back, but I might get a kiddie cone next time (esp if it's over 90 outside). It's definitely worth it. read more

I decided to go out Tuesday to run some errands and was thrilled to see the sign out front saying Tuesday, lobster rolls, $13.99! Went inside and business was brisk, waited just a few minutes and for a total of $14.97, including tax, walked out with the most delicious lobster roll ever, with fresh, crunchy chips and pickle slices. Totally enjoyed it! read more

Long Beach Dairy Maid - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Gloucester, Massachusetts

We come here every time we go to the Gloucester beaches. They have all kinds of soft serve combos and big portions. I enjoyed their new maple créeme flavor, and how they put jimmies on the bottom and the top. read more

The ice cream flavors are insane! We loved how many options there were and can't wait to visit again to try a few different ones. I tried the S'more's with chocolate jimmies and the flavor did not lie, truly tasted like a s'mores sundae. If you're from out of town (like me) make sure to see the sizes because the kiddie looks like a large. Definitely worth getting a large though because it was just so delicious you don't want it to end! Very friendly service, although we were there on a weekday the service was slow but I'm assuming they don't have full staff on non peak hours. read more

I HATE leaving not happy reviews but it is what it is. I personally would have given a 2 star but my daughter & hubby were happy enough. Our first time stopping here while day tripping in the area, I won't stop again. The girls at the counter, seems like high schoolers working for the Summer months and all were very nice and friendly, they deserved an extra tip just from the nice personalities. I was so surprised after reading the reviews before stopping, when I popped my first mouthful of ice cream. The whipped cream was so flavorless and almost the consistency of water that I went behind the trees and flicked off all the cream, I whipped cream so that was a shock to myself and my family. Then I dived into a mouthful of the ice cream. So flavorless, I've never had ice cream this flavorless. I dumped the whole sundae in the garbage. Also I was buying an ice cream for my dog and just wanted a kiddie size vanilla. I did see they have dog sundaes but didn't want her having as much as would come with that. I asked if they had a kiddie size and she said no, just a one scoop. I ordered all our ice creams, paid and then overhead a man next to me ordering, a half kiddie and a kiddie?!?! Ugh My daughter was so excited to see a hard ice cream flavor choice because we locally only have that in the Autumn. When she ordered she was told they don't have it till the Fall. Maybe place a paper stripe or tape over that option when your not serving it? When back in the area we'll be trying a different stop. To each his own. read more

Quick little pit stop on our way to Gloucester Beach, but a great find! I'm not from this area, but I assumed most ice cream beach shacks would be just iced over ice cream that's been there for too long. But, this ice cream was creamy and delicious! There was an extensive selection of flavors from soft serve to regular ice cream. I got a coffee almond fudge and it was so good! And this was the kiddie portion, so I can't imagine how big a regular size is. Worth your while to stop by :) read more

One of my favorite ice cream places to go to during the summer... The widest selection of ice cream and quick and friendly service.

Fair pricing for huuuge portions and an absolutely insane selection of flavors. Literally longest list of flavors I've read at any ice cream store ever. It's a perfect distance from Long Beach, great spot to stop after a Long Beach day. Decent lactose-free/dairy-free options! read more

Best ice cream place in the Gloucester area by far! Their ice cream is so creamy and portion sizes are huge (We both got a small and it was difficult to finish)! The staff was very kind and patient with us as we looked over dozens of unique flavors we'd never even heard of before. It's very affordable ice cream (~ $10 for 2 smalls that look like mediums or larges) and perfect for a date night. Fantastic experience! We got a small, hand dipped Green Monster and a small, soft serve Amaretto (both in the pictures attached). read more

I really liked their Ice Cream. I generally am not all that daring in my ice cream choices but I got chocolate and it had a fresh and almost creamy taste. It was quite good. It was my first time in this area of Massachusetts in many years but if and when I do come back, they will be at the top of my list to try again. read more

Yum! Lots of variety. Good flavors. Staff was friendly prices are reasonable for ice cream

Love the variety of flavors and toppings and love their packaging!! Having it in a big cup helps so much with not having a mess. The texture on the ice cream is perfect and smooth. I will say they take a very long time to scoop the ice cream. Felt bad because the girl said sorry and that the ice cream was really hard but we were standing there for over 5 min for one ice cream to be scooped. Maybe they need to turn the temp down a little so it's easier for them to scoop. read more

Loved this spot! So many wonderful flavors of hard and soft ice cream and they have crunch coat the best topping of all! Portions were huge, ordered a kiddie! read more

Long Beach Dairy Maid - Kiddie soft serve with crunch coat - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Gloucester, Massachusetts

Great little ice cream and frozen yogurt place off the beaten track in Gloucester MA. Went to drop of my mother to a friends house there, who told us about this place sandwiched between Surfside Subs eatery (nice enough to let us use the bathroom) which looked really good, and a pizzeria. Would have loved to try it but we'd had a late brunch. We got a half-kiddie size combo of soft serve Chocolate Almond frozen yoghurt (you can't tell it's not ice cream) and Death by Chocolate, and a chocolate frappe. Both really good. Big servings, kept us going till dinner. Pleasant, helpful service - college students working summer jobs. read more

Soft serve source for Gloucester's beach seekers since the dawn of dairy time (aka 1958). Nostalgia most appreciated, and perplexed by the endless options of flavored soft serve (~25), premium hard ice cream (30+), frozen yogurt (6-10) and other frosty delights (including "world's best" orange sherbet), I jumped on the Sweet N Salty pretzel chocolate caramel swirl thing. She, as always, went vanilla soft serve swimming in cherry dip. It was then we realized a small is anything but. Turns out there are two tinier sizes (kiddie and half kiddie), placing the sheer volume of a small beyond the common human adult's stomach capacity. For her, a ziggurat of soft serve (under-dipped). For me, three scoops of crystalline goodness teetering off a sugar cone. As such, the prices befit the quantity - a small may be more costly than other dairy shacks, unless you compare it to a medium or large. Beefs: weird seating (Adirondacks in a row facing traffic), and slightly stale product (pretzels were chewy, sizable ice crystals). read more

Slop fest! That's what my mouth was after eating this ice cream. Haha lol. I know what you're thinking, I want my ice cream crusty on the outside and gooey on the inside. The Dairy Maid is the perfect spot after a hot and sandy day at Long Beach. They serve Richardson's Ice Cream, which automatically gives any ice cream stand mad props. So if you've had Richardson's before, you can expect to find any of your favorite flavors. They also offer 24 flavors of soft serve, which come out quite good! Ever tried blueberry? Sounds weird, but give it a whirl, it's great. They also have italian ice, frappes, sundaes, dips, you name it. There isn't much place to go sit down per se, so it's usually a 'sit in/on the car and eat' or 'walk back to the beach while it melts all over you' situation, but that's all part of the charm. But I'm a bit of a sucker for ice cream, so anything with Richardsons gets a high review from me! read more

lots of options of flavors. staff is quick. soft serve is good too. fun to go when it's not busy!

Want some ice cream? How about some soft serve? How about a million flavors of each, at low prices and with INSANE serving sizes? Come on down to the Dairy Maid. We pulled up after a Google search revealed this to be the "best ice cream in Gloucester," and indeed it was. The "hard" (normal) ice cream list has over 30 flavors, and there are 24 unique soft serve flavors to boot. I had my heart set on chocolate peanut butter (outstanding), Toll House cookie (total letdown - where's the "cookie"?), and butter crunch (only because I'd never heard of it). My dad had a soft serve of German chocolate - one of the best we'd ever tasted - and my mom went with a Death by Chocolate/Coconut two-scoop, which was remarkable. Add to all this the fact that you can make a sundae with nearly ANY sauce - from hot fudge to peanut butter to fluffernutter - and you've got an insane possibility of combinations to make your taste buds tingle - even in 50-degree weather! A must-stop when you're in the area. read more

Located right next to Surfside Subs, this has a fantastic assortment of ice cream flavors - both hard and soft. It was actually hard deciding! I ended up getting frozen pudding hard ice cream in a cup. The portions of huge. A kiddie size had 2 huge scoops. I had to ask for a second cup so I could share it. Not much of a wait when we were there but a line was forming as we left as it's location close to the beach and definitely a popular spot. Prices are pretty steep and that's likely due to the portion size. I can't imagine how many scoops a large had! Very tasty ice cream though, yum. read more

Whoa. This place is awesome. We went once, and then we went back every night, which definitely killed any healthy aspirations. Be warned, the kiddie cone is 2 huge scoops, so my dad discovered if you ask for a baby cone they will give you 1 huge scoop, which is still PLENTY of ice cream. Husband loved the Deer Tracks and Maine Black Bear. I liked the chocolate almond frozen yogurt, and my daughter liked everything! read more

Their hours say open until 10:30 and we pulled up at 10:01 and the girl flipped the sign in front of us to closed and shut the window. Have been before and the ice cream is mediocre but we made the drive because it was the only place "open". Don't waste you're time driving there, even if they are open you're better off just grabbing something from 7/11. read more

Stopped here today for soft serve. We ordered a small vanilla cone with chocolate topping which was huge. And ordered a kiddie size of the same. Two cones (small and kiddie size) cost $13.50!!! What? Taste was okay. Nothing great. The person who helped us was very nice. Way too expensive. Sorry. Won't be back. read more

Stopped by this place for dessert after dinner one night. There are tons of flavors though they were out of a couple of first choices. My cone was a bit stale and I hate when the paper on the cone doesn't come off easy. The chocolate pieces in my ice cream were so waxy I had to eat around them. The ice cream was pretty good but could have been creamier. Maybe next time I will try the soft serve. read more

Excellent selection, large servings, decent prices. Get a kiddie or half kiddie & you'll still have plenty.

I've been going to Long Beach Dairy Maid since I was a little kid. This place has THE best ice cream and SO much to choose from! Went for the first time and was disappointed. They were out of so many flavors and waffle cones. The Icecream are way to big and unnecessary. The softserve flavors were mediocre. The Icecream girls were very pleasant and let me try as many flavors as I'd like. read more

this place is legit. the serving sizes of the richardson's hard ice cream are pretty decent. the 24 flavors of soft serve are a delight. i recommend getting the coconut soft serve in a cone with chocolate dip. there are a ton of toppings, cone choices, sundae options, and flavored syrups for special drinks and all that. downfalls, but nothing that would lead me to tell you not to go to LBDM: it's kind of pricey for ice cream, service tends to be slow, i don't know that the scoopers are always 100% listening/knowing of their jobs, and there are very limited places to sit and enjoy. regardless, this is a very solid place to get ice cream. read more
