Yesterday, someone invited me for a beer at Poor Phil's, which was closed at the time, so they changed the location to The Beer Shop, not realizing my dog issue. I was feeling brave, so I went in! Thankfully, no allergic reaction. There was only one small dog there while I was there, about 30 minutes, and the dog only walked by once, while leashed. A few tables with kids playing board games. A few folks at the bar. I really dug the vibe, and if it was pet-free, I'd totally come here more often! The bartender was super duper friendly, really cool. I got a cider on tap, and there were non-alcohol options as well, even saw a canned Diet Coke- my favorite!! I realize I'm not their ideal customer, with my dog challenges. If you have a dog, this looks to be the perfect spot for you! I wish I could visit again, but I think I'll pass as dogs barking indoors make me startle, cry, and flee. They were not serving the regular food menu that day, but thanks to their cool-looking "train engine" grill they were serving tasty carne asada platters. It's about $8 a pint. Kind of a lot but they make smaller batches of these. Best one we had of these was the Hazy In The Name Of. This is a New England Hazy IPA, a classic style. Made with citrone and nectaron hops. There's notes of citrus, lime, passionfruit, and peach. Has a few things to munch on. It's about $7 for the Knotty Pretzels. Comes in a big bag. These are a great combination and big enough for sharing. For sure there's lots of great beers. It's actually open daily which is especially rare for a brewery to be honest. Everything seemed to have improved from our visit here a week ago, but that's because Michelle was not there. The prices have gone up but they have added premium beverages to their selection. Unfortunately, Michelle was not included in the staff overhaul, and mistreated my friend during a recent visit. It is a real shame that The Cordial Inn continues to have problem bartenders, because this place *used* to be a gem. It's now a far cry from cordial. The interior renovations are not worth it for any of us to tolerate disrespectful behavior from bar staff. I am beyond offended that the new owners allow the bar staff to treat customers badly. There are plenty of other choices in the area, and my choice is to spend my money where the staff appreciate my money and patronage.
