Shelly is absolutely amazing and has been doing my hair for years. I have lived in Virginia and Washington State (Finally back living in CA) but I used to plan my visits to CA so I was able to get my hair done by her. Janay is the manager and she is just so sweet! Janay is my Hair's Superpower. I came in to the salon about a year ago which was highly recommended from a friend at work. My stylist had retired to raise a family and I had already been a few places which were not a good fit. I told Janay what I wanted and she and her amazing team made me love my hair again. After doing my hair for 3 years, the amazing bombshell Brenna moved to Texas and recommended Rachel as her replacement. I made an appointment with Rachel and two weeks later she sent me a text at 7:30am that she needs to reschedule because of a personal reason. Now, as a person with a busy schedule and in the process of waiting for my new vehicle to be delivered I have expressed the Rachel that changing my schedule is not an easy task but I will see if I can move things around to accommodate hers. While rearranging my schedule to make a trip from LA to OC to get my hair done, Rachel decides to send me the following text: "However from the sounds of it, I'm not sure if our schedules are going to match up. It might be in your best interest to book with a different stylist that has more a compatible schedule with your own." My response was that I was able to move things around to accommodate her schedule and she never responded. First off, who says "it's in your best interest" to a new client? Secondly, who texts clients at 7:30am? Rachel is so unprofessional and displays a perfect example of a hair dresser diva who has zero empathy for others and cares only about what is convenient for her. I won't be returning to the salon after 3 years of being a loyal customer driving from LA to OC. read more

I went to Olvia Taylor Salon yesteday for a brazilian wax and eyebrow wax. The esthetician's name isCarolyn. She is very nice and professional. Her waxing was comfortable and thorough. She also told me about the facials and peels that she offers. I scheduled one for next week and I'm looking forward to it. The salon is chic, warm, and conveniently located. It is not too large, which I like. A little more personal. They have a few hair stations that were all filled. I saw clients getting haircuts, highlights, hair color and extensions. Even those cute feather extensions. Their prices are competitive and fair. I purchased a Glo face cleanser, some Glo mineral makeup, and a bottle of moroccan oil. I love that stuff! My review is way over due for Marlo. Please note that this is more for my hair dresser than the salon. I mean do not get me wrong. Olivia Hair Salon is lovely, the staff is courteous, friendly, and it has a warm inviting environment. Oh and the best part & one of my favorite details is that the salon offers you wine, tea, water, and coffee. I usually like to have wine with my visit. That is just the salon, now let me talk about the hairdresser. Marlo is very attentive. She listens very closely to what you want. If you are not too sure she will offer suggestions on what you would like to do. She will not over cut your hair so you will not walk out with less than you had anticipated. I actually come out with a trim and not several inches off of my hair. I have a lot of hair & to top it off it is fine so I constantly get knots. When I go to Marlo she makes sure she thins it out in exactly the right places so my hair doesn't get all the knots in the back. But what Marlo is BEST at is color. I LOVE my hair color. She has taken me from a very boring dark brown to a medium brown with touches of highlights at the ends. My hair has the sun kissed look all year long. She is highly skilled in balayage technique or what she calls it "painting" my hair. She doesn't use the foil but eyeballs where the sun kissed highlights need to fall. The result, hair color that looks natural. Marlo's professionalism & her continued effort to practice and learn more techniques on hair color & cuts is what makes her so great. Most stylists just stick to what they know but not Marlo. She seeks out to find the latest techniques and keep up to date with what is the current trend in the hair industry. I went to Olivia Taylor Salon, but I'm not satisfied. Girl who cut my hair named Ashley is not that good. She didn't cut all parts of my hair, so next day I came back and asked to cut my bangs. She didn't even wet my bangs, she started to cut it roughly and of course, one side was shorter and different then other one (because I got bangs on the side). I didn't want to deal we her so long so I left after 2 min. I don't know how other girls do they job, but if you are going in this salon, try to escape Ashley. read more
