One of the foods that I wanted to try while in Australia was a meat pie. I honestly wasn't sure if I would like it because I was thinking it would be similar to a chicken pot pie. The pie crust is similar, but the filling is completely different (thankfully).
My friends and I took a break from driving around the Northern Beaches to have lunch at Oliver's. My friend recommended Oliver's and told me it's better than the tourist spots in Sydney. Since she's a local, I completely trusted her and she didn't steer me wrong.
They have so many options to choose from. I kept it simple and went with the Traditional Meat Pie. The pie was served pipping hot and I had to wait a few minutes before I could bite into it. I honestly wasn't expecting it to be so tasty, but it was! The crust was buttery and flaky, the meat was tender, and it was extremely filling! I tried some tomato sauce with it and liked it, but I preferred the pie plain without any sauce.
In addition to beef, they have chicken, lamb, and veggie options. They also have savory pastries like Spinach and Ricotta Rolls as well as sweet options like cream filled donuts.
There's no seating inside, but there's tables and benches out front on the patio.
I'm so happy to have tried a meat pie. It exceeded my expectation! read more
