Went for the second time this week. Was pretty busy around dinner time on a Saturday. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Food was delicious and perfect portions. They bring bread with olive oil to start and the dishes come with a soup or salad. Went here with my daughter and her family, along with our cousin, to celebrate my birthday. The food was very delicious and all of enjoyed the meals that each of us chose. Pasta was done perfectly just like I ordered it ("Al Dente") and the sauce was made just right, not too sharp or sweet, and unlike some places that I have been to over the years, you could tell that it was made fresh and not just something from a jar, and definitely not somewhat watery. My friend and I chose Oliverii for dinner tonight and unfortunately had one of the worst dining experiences either of us has had. We both have extensive backgrounds in the service industry, so we understand that restaurants can be short-staffed and that delays happen. This was far beyond that. We were seated, we waited about 30 minutes before the hostess took our drink order. During that time, servers repeatedly walked past our table while other guests were being served. After another 30 minutes, we finally received our drinks and requested water, bread, and a salad. None of those items arrived. After sitting for nearly an hour and asked twice, no water, bread, or food, I approached Sal, and asked if we could move to the bar in hopes of receiving service. He agreed and told us he would bring bread and water, but it never arrived. Once seated at the bar, we again requested water and bread from the bartender and still received neither. Our salad finally arrived roughly an hour after we had initially ordered it. At that point, there were only a handful of occupied tables in the restaurant, so the delays could not be attributed to a busy dining room. We ordered a fettuccine dish, another 30 minutes no follow-up from staff no bread no water. Bartender didn't care to ask us if we wanted another drink while we waited, and STILL no bread and water we requested from her. By 9:00 PM, after spending nearly two hours in the restaurant, asked 4 times we still had not received bread, water, or our dinner. The restaurant was not busy to receive such poor service. We sat down at 7:00, our check showed a seating time of 7:39 PM, meaning nearly 40 minutes passed before anything was even entered into the system. When we informed the hostess that we'd like to leave, she acknowledged that the bread had just been put in. Meanwhile, Sal was socializing and having a drink with another patron. I fully understand the importance of taking care of regular customers, but every paying guest deserves attention and basic service. Given the restaurant's declining reputation under the new ownership, this experience unfortunately reinforced those concerns. We left hungry, frustrated, and disappointed. Beware their seafood! I went to celebrate a birthday there (first visit) and ordered muscles. Several of the muscles had chips of their shell in them (likely meaning the muscles has been dead before cooking and the chef pried open their shells afterwards). The smell and taste of several were like raw sewage. I got food poisoning afterwards needless to say. Perhaps they treat their food safety better with non-sea food, but I'm never taking that risk with this restaurant again. read more

What a terrible restaurant to eat at for Father's Day. The first drink we had there was a bug floating on top. Then we had to wait an hour to get our entrée. we only ordered 3 dishes, it dosnt take an hour to make simple pasta. We eventually got our order, one pasta dish was under cooked and they were all extremely salty. There was never any apology and felt like we were being avoided the entire time. I took my brother here for a quiet birthday lunch. It is a nice restaurant, but seems a little dated inside. The service was friendly, but slow. The food though was delicious. I had the pollo limone and my brother had the pollo basilica. The serving sizes are perfect; enough to fill your stomach and satisfy you, but not enough for leftovers. My brother also received a complimentary, birthday tiramisu. The dinner menu is pricey, but the lunch menu is more reasonable. We will definitely visit for lunch again. read more

My wife and I have been coming here for several years. Second last visit the hostess was, let's just say not what one would expect as far as welcoming. Ordered the Chicken Marsala, and for the first time I did not like their food. No flavor! Had family visiting and wanted to share with them the usually great food they serve. Last night I made reservations. It is apparent that calling in advance and making a reservation DOES NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! As a former server, I have more patience than most. Unfortunately, the service here was surprisngly disorganized and inefficient, despite appearing to have plenty of staff. Our reservation was at 5 PM, and we didn't leave until 7:30 PM--not because we were enjoying a leisurely meal, but because service was painfully slow. It took 20 minutes just to be greeted. The server began with an uncomfortable apology, admitting they were scatterbrained, which set us up for disappointment. Although we were ready to order everything, they insisted on taking only drink orders first. I then watched the server struggle to prioritize. For example, they greeted new guests, made drinks at the bar, delivered food, and disappeared--while our drinks sat in limbo. When the drinks finally arrived minutes later, 2 out of 4 were incorrect. They served a Pinot Grigio instead of Pinot Noir, and the Manhattan was served on the rocks. I've never seen a Manhattan served on the rocks. Any trained bartender would know that. After 45 minutes, the owner stopped by, and asked if we needed anything. We said, "basically everything." The owner apologized and took our order, but the chaos continued. Phones rang incessantly with no one answering, the entrance was crowded with guests waiting for their reservation, but the tables weren't turned so they couldn't be seated on time, which caused more disgruntled guests. Despite having multiple servers and a dedicated bartender, every staff member seemed to be juggling too many roles. Instead of managing their section and assisting FOH/BOH duties as needed, the team operated in a way that left all areas underserved, by seemingly prioritizing FOH/BOH duties over their section. At the two-hour mark, we flagged down the owner to request our bill and boxes for leftovers, because our server didn't return after the food served. It took another 20 to get the bill, and then we had to ask for the boxes we requested after the bill was processed and wait more. By the end of the experience, we were just relieved to leave. The food was good, but it wasn't worth the wait or the stressful environment. If they were short-staffed, I'd be more understanding, but with so many hands available (servers, bussers, runners, a dedicated bar tender, and a dedicated person who refilled waters and nothing more that I saw), I really don't know why they struggled so much. 2 stars because the food was good. read more

Ambience is nice but casual, and staff is friendly. Grilled octopus appetizer was really tasty and cooked to perfection - tender and amazing. The ravioli had a unique sauce with bits of walnut that gave it good texture. Tiramisu was yummy and light. The sauce was a little thin for the Alfredo but the noodles were perfect, and the pasta portion for the Chicken Parm was a bit small compared to other plates. Dined here twice and both times were unimpressive. Like many places in little Antioch, Oliverii takes itself too seriously. It shoots for upscale but lands very "meh" for food, ambiance, and pricing. Better off going to Maggianos, LEYE, or even OG for similar food and ambiance at better prices. read more

The food is always very good. We had a very disappointing experience last night with our server. She appears to be new and is in desperate need of training. She was unfriendly, and kept rushing us all night long. It really made for an unpleasant experience. They usually have such pleasant people working there, and we've always felt welcome. Last night was very different. We'll be back, but will steer clear of sitting in her section if she happens to be there. We were speaking with the bartender afterward, and she said that the girl came from a Very high-end restaurant so perhaps that's the cause of her being so rigid. Please get that girl some training. Spaghettone al Torchio (pasta alfredo), is a wonderful entree that includes a passionate & fun table side show by the owner, Guido Oliverii! The Ravioli di Noce o Pomodoro (walnut & ricotta stuffed in pasta), and the Linguine Con Salmone (salmon pieces in a vodka cream sauce with pasta) were delightful. We joined a large group for dinner here last night. Upon entering I was encouraged but that optimism quickly evaporated. Salads arrived with no tomato, pepper, cucumber or onion; simply a bowl of chopped greens. Service was generally adequate although the bus boy in his zeal to clear the table took my wife's plate despite her request to keep it. Entrees arrived and my Scampi e Broccoli did not look appetizing. The shrimp were not fresh, the broccoli was soggy and looked and tasted like it was ready for the compost bin. Overall the dish was bland and tasteless despite being prepared in a "garlic white wine cream sauce". I've had this dish at other restaurants and know how it should taste. Olivetti North's version was no where close. We will not be returning to this restaurant. read more

There were definitely highs and lows tonight in our first experience at Oliverii North, and that sentiment ranged from food to service. Food/Wine Formaggio Misti - a relatively mundane, but reasonable selection of good quality cheeses. However, the plating on these was extremely clumsy, with no crostini or other delivery vessel apart from the table bread to use with it. I would have greatly enjoyed more poached pear, as well as some other form of fruit spread, and maybe 1/2-2/3 the portion of cheese, because this was just much. I would likely not order this again if it remained as plated. House salads - Tasty, particularly the house dressing. My salad looked colorful and beautiful with ribbons of carrot and a healthy amount of dressing. My wife's . . . did not; I ended up dressing her salad with mine to balance the two out because they were prepared so disparately. Mushroom Ravioli Special - Beautiful mushroom pouring out of this dish, but hindered by a significant oversalting of the sauce. Lovely bite on the pasta, but it's just tough to enjoy the many wonderful qualities in that dish when the sauce was so far off the mark on overseasoning. Methinks too much pasta water made it into the pan when it was prepared. Walnut Ricotta Ravioli - Very, very tasty. The walnuts provide a savory and sweet without being overpowering, the sauce was not salty at all - very controlled and balanced. It might have benefitted from a little white wine for acidity or a bit of fresh crushed black pepper for heat, but this was certainly the star of the night. Wine - The wines were very reasonable in price and of good quality. However, we asked for a second glass each with dinner to three different servers; we received none. Which leads to . . . Service Oh goodness, our server was having a tough night. She was flustered start to finish, dropping plates on our table without description or presentation or . . . anything. Beverages were filled by other staff, and when I asked what cheeses were on our plate, she walked away. Easily one of the most awkward experiences I have had in dining; it was clear that for whatever reason, it wasn't her night. Some of the more observant staff picked up at least some of the pieces, but on balance it was very disappointing. The glows are strong enough to make me want to give this place another chance. The weak spots were really quite rough, and they weren't all just service either; execution on food and beverage was equally checkered. We might come back, but if we don't, I am not convinced we have missed out. read more

This restaurant is in the heart of downtown Antioch. It is a very nice Italian restaurant and has seating outside, during the summertime. It is a little bit more pricier than what I would expect for a restaurant based in a small town. The prices reflected more of a Chicago fine dining Italian restaurant. With that being said I would recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a nice Italian restaurant with great food, knowledgeable staff, and a romantic atmosphere. I recommend sitting in a booth where you have more privacy, instead of a table. The locals enjoy coming here more often than just a special occasion. My boyfriend lives in Antioch so we went there for a special occasion and it did not disappoint. We usually will split an entree since I don't eat very much, however we ordered separately so that we would have leftovers to enjoy the following day.
