Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic - That's the most that hand would close. Occupational therapy helped, but the middle finger still won't close all the way.

A routine surgery gone bad…read more I had three trigger finger surgeries performed by Anderson. The first one on my thumb was hugely successful and led me to have the other two fingers done some years later. Surgery was scheduled with the 'new' hand guy and performed on the right hand with no apparent complications. After removing dressing I notice the incision was not sutured so that the sides lined up resulting in a pucker in my palm and even a misalignment of the line that goes across the palm. I bright this up with my surgeon and he brushed me off saying it would 'flatten' after some time. Ok, so two weeks later I go for the left hand, same procedure. I was in the room and they were prepping me for the surgery. The doctor came in the room and injected me with the numbing solution, and I commented, "last time your assistant cleaned my whole arm with butadiene solution prior to injection." This created a bit of a stir as they scurried to clean the area after they made the injections. Surgery was performed and I went on my way. Fast forward 10 days. Recovery was going ok, although right hand very stiff but left (most recent) all of the sudden became very stiff and painful. I went to their office the next morning and from the parking lot they told me that they were too busy to see me and that only my surgeon could see me do come back tomorrow. Disappointedly I left with my swollen and very painful hand. I returned the next morning in worse shape. The surgeon didn't even get me into the exam room and told me to admit myself to the hospital. He said I had an infection in my hand and it needed to be cleaned out and I needed strong antibiotics. The hand had become quite inflamed and very painful but that was just the beginning. Surgery was very invasive adding three more incisions, rooting around and flushing around the tendons and then not stitching back up but letting the wounds heal from an open state. I met with infectious disease staff and they recommended strong antibiotics while they tried to sort out my specific infection. Two days after surgery, the surgeon visited, and performed a probing and painful examination of my hand with no gloves. Two days later I was released from the hospital with a very painful hand. I went back for follow up with the surgeon and he said give both hands time and recommend occupational therapy. 20 sessions later, I can't make a tight fist with either hand, have lost grip strength, and the tendons are so tight they lift in the palm of my hands when I do close my fists. Very uncomfortable every day. The misaligned sutures never 'flattened' out and the trigger finger surgeries were a total fail. I'd never recommend having it done to anybody. I don't think my hands will ever be the same, but Anderson got paid in full and showed no concern whatsoever after I walked out the door.

its ok. I never have time with my actual Physical Therapist instead they put me with the "techs"…read more There is only 2 boys I usually see and they have them running around doing everything. I believe they're understaffed but they have so many physical therapist I don't understand why they aren't hands on and giving their patients more time instead of passing it off to the techs.

I'm currently on month ten since an injury and Dr. Asomugha is the second doctor I've been to, and…read morethe only one who was able to actually identify a problem and solve it. Wasn't thrilled the solution required surgery, but I am about 10 weeks post surgery and working on getting myself back to normal. I have a pretty long recovery ahead still, but am beyond grateful for Dr. Asomugha and her team. OrthoVirginia is fantastic. Everyone on the staff has been helpful and kind, explained everything I needed and even very patiently spoke to my parents to explain to them what was going on. After about two months of visits, Dr. Asomugha recommended surgery. I am a little over two months since surgery and while I'm still not back to 'normal' life, the (minimal) exercises I am cleared to do in PT are pain free - I am so very optimistic about having a pain free future and getting back to working out again in the near future. In one of my post op appointments, my scar looked hideous and was making me nauseous and she handled my being a giant baby like a charm and told me a story of her having a similar moment, so I felt a lot better about my small freak out. When I had a (non-related to surgery, but in the area) problem, she immediately made time for me, gave me her personal phone number and genuinely showed concern for my issue, even though it didn't have anything to do with her surgery. She truly cares about her patients and their well being. I am so grateful for finding Dr. A online and her team. I have been to both the Duke St. and Walker Lane locations and the staff at both is extraordinarily friendly. Wait times are small, I am always seen within 5 minutes of my appointment time and I never feel rushed, but don't feel like the appointments drag on. I 100000% recommend Dr. A for anyone having leg/ankle/foot issues - I hope that after I am done recovering I never have to use her again, but will in a heartbeat if I ever tear something again. She is an amazing surgeon and a truly fantastic doctor.

The physician's assistant asked all the right questions and I was able to get x-rays on-site. Dr. Asomugha is friendly and thoroughly professional. Everyone involved in the appointment, including the front desk staff and the medical scribe who took notes during the appointment, was professional and the care was coordinated well. Highly recommend.

Still going through this horrible situation. But I finally got this office to call my primary and…read morethe situation makes NO SENSE. This was left on my voicemail "according to that lady, she said that it's already sent to the nurse practitioner, the proposed of the referral. However, they never sent the uh the actual referral because there's no referral uh set up yet." So they sent the referrals but they didn't?? (My dr has sent it multiple times) Then the next day, this morning, my doctor calls me informing me that they were told by a Sheryl that the office doesn't take my insurance???? So now I'm back on the phone with this nightmare of an office, because HOW DOES ANY OF THIS MAKE SENSE?!?? The person I spoke to was confused and rude, cause they kept cutting me,off which seems normal for this office. Even thought I mentioned my primary has sent my referral multiple times. she asked me if I had a referral? After a bit of a wait because I'm talking to a new person every single time.I was transferred to the women who left me the message. She told me they received the referral and would give me the soonest appointment. As usually no one was interested in what I had to say. I told her I just got off the phone with my primary and that they told me their office did not take my insurance. She said "no we just need a referral"and kept with that. I had to drag her back. I said you're not understanding what I'm trying to tell you. My primary called me, told me that you no longer took my insurance. And now you're telling me you do? No apology or recognizing how insane my situation has been. She told me that they just need a referral and there is no Sheryl working in the office... It's like they have no idea why I'm so angry. Like I'm the problem. When I've wasted HOURS for the last two weeks TO GET A SIMPLE REFERRAL TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! You would think they'd want this information so it doesn't happen again... nope.
