Not a fan of olive oil, but it is telling that a store can sell me a style or flavor not often associated with olive oil. The store DOES have other ingredients like rubs, spices and even some eatery stuff. All that pales in comparison to their selection of olive oils. They got so many crazy varieties for those that are down with the stuff. The only issue is we were told to have someone give us free samples, which is fair. However, the one worker just simply didn't seem too excited to help us, and gave am exasperated sigh when we got her attention about it. If you got a taste for the olive oils, this is a place to go, in spite of some of the help there.

From the second we walked in, Kenny made us feel like we were at home. He was the kindest, most genuine, welcoming person we have ever met. It never felt like we were just customers stopping in for a tasting; it felt like we were guests in his home who they were genuinely excited to have there. We ended up wanting to stay forever! The wine was absolutely incredible, but what really sets this place apart is the experience. Kenny took the time to talk with us, get to know us, share stories, laugh with us, and make the entire visit feel so personal. You can tell how much heart he putz into what him and Anne do, and that warmth carries through the entire place. We visited other wineries while we were in town, and while we enjoyed them, nothing compared to this. There is something so authentic and special here that you simply cannot recreate at a bigger or more commercial winery. This was more than a wine tasting -- it became one of our favorite memories from the entire trip. If you are anywhere near the area, PLEASE make this a stop. Come for the wine, but I promise you'll leave remembering the people and the way they made you feel. Kenny and Anne, thank you for having a place that makes complete strangers feel like old friends. We will absolutely be back.

Originally reviewed on Google November 2022…read more One of my great loves in this world is cooking and trying new spice blends. If I find something I truly love, I would be more than willing to make a point of going out of way to stop by a store or even order something across the country. I especially love herbal teas as well. I have quite a large collection of teas and spices from around the world that I'm always looking to add to, which is why when I found this place during my honeymoon I was ecstatic. All that quickly ended when I felt uneasy upon being greeted by an older lady who was alone running the shop. She seemed high strung which I can understand - I've worked retail and ran small family owed business before. I chalked it up to just stress, so I tried being polite and thankful for her help. I'm not an abrasive guy. I understand everyone has good days and bad days so I continued exploring the shop eager to bring home some treasures. After a few minutes I found something I was interested in, and so I asked the lady (politely) if I could smell this spice blend. What happened next was so embarrassing and shameful the thought of buying anything from this person made me sick. She raised her voice at me from across the room with other customers in the store saying "NO NO NO NO!" Walked over to me and took the jar out of my hand and proceeded to talk to me like I was a child while dangling the jar in front of me. Essentially, telling me I was stupid for even asking. Immediately afterwards she gave me one of those half a$$ apologies for her outburst. You know, one of those "I'm sorry but not really" apologies and then tried to justify her behavior with a bunch of... blah blah blah (Sorry, at this point in the story I was not really listening, but rather planning my escape from this psycho). Now, I'm not going to go into everything she said but I will say I'm VERY familiar with people like this lady. The one piece of advice I have for the others who have shared my experience with this lady (which I know there are because I've seen the other Google reviews) is that people like this are never sorry. They could say sorry a thousand times and still act out of line 20 minutes later. That being said, to whomever may stumble across this review, save yourself the insults and embarrassment and go somewhere else. I don't know if this lady owns this business but if she does, she doesn't deserve your money or your time. After my wife and I stood there and waited for her to finish talking we quickly left. Instead, we went to Overland down the street where the employees were extremely nice and dropped hundreds of dollars. I wish I could have spent some of it at Spice and Tea Merchants but I guess they didn't want my business. Oh well. July 2026 Update: This store location appears to now be privately owned by the same lady who is mentioned in so many negative reviews on Google. Location is no longer known as Spice and Tea Merchants. Now, it is known as Breckenridge Tea & Spice. Unfortunately, the change in ownership or at the very least the change in name will not result in any better customer experiences as it is still operated by the same deplorable lady. This lady was a franchisee of the once Spice and Tea Merchants in Breckenridge. My guess is this location has been sold to her and now privately owned by her, hence the name change. The gist of it is different name, same management/owner. Same inexcusable behavior. Same condescending behavior. Same disdainful nature toward her customers as proven by the many more recent reviews on Google.

The layout of this bakery is super-tight for one (NOT comfy!), and the bakery selection is quite small. For some reason, I remember the selection being much bigger in the past. I've been to so many bigger-better bakeries in the past decade, this one was just a huge let-down. In any case, I just tried their Ham & Cheese Crepe, with a Latte w/ Cream. Well, again, so disappointing! The Ham & Cheese Crepe was just SO basic (no fruits, no whipped cream, nothing!). Also, it was poorly made...with the cheese only in the middle section. I thought I misordered! The taste was also BLAH...I kept thinking, this CAN'T be the same bakery I visited years ago, is it??? Also, the presentation (if you can even call it that!) was beyond bad. The crepe and the latte was delivered in cheap paper...not even a logo. OMG...basically a dive in terms of a bakery. I'm kinda amazed at the high ratings here. I mean, really?!? Sadly, I don't think I'll be returning here on my future trips.

Per the research I did, it appears that its headquarters is located in Kansas City, MO. The only other two locations are in CA and CO. Whereas for someone like me who lives in the Denver metro area, going to Breckenridge is not a weekly routine at all, I got lucky to experience this elegant chocolate shop after I did a fall color catching at its tail end of 2026 season with my adult daughter in nearby area in Breckenridge just the past Tuesday. And had she not suggested the idea of finding a chocolate shop while in town, I wouldn't have forever known this brand of chocolate. The name was an unusual one for a chocolatier was the first thought it came up in my mind. There was another one in town but I was intrigued by Christopher Elbow's name. This was the compelling enough reason to check it out so off we went to satisfy our sweet tooth. Somehow, I was imagining something quite different but most of all, elegant (without first checking out the photos uploaded in Yelp.) My assumption was so spot on. As we stepped inside, an art gallery like interior was everywhere in front of us. "Looks like we are in a modern art museum!" was what I immediately uttered to which my daughter agreed. All the products were intricately and impeccably displayed throughout. "Wow" after another, we simply didn't know where to start to examine each product although the store isn't necessarily large. For a luxury chocolatier, the prices are/were not so high. I certainly saw some of them priced at the so-called "sensible" or "rational" ranges. All in all, most of them was in doable ranges is what I perceived as. For instance, individually wrapped single pieces of different types of chocolates are $4.50 up to $8. the signature chocolate bars are $10, 8-piece single flavor box of Blueberry Cheesecake Collection (which I bought) is $28. Even merchandise (mug cups and beanies) are $18 and $24. They also have what's called "Pate De Fruit" and these are a must try/buy items where you can buy individually wrapped ones at the price of $4 (there are two in each bag). Your eyes are constantly entertained by the beauty of the products. All the products we bought (from the blueberry cheesecake to some of the individually wrapped pieces including the "Pate De Fruit") were of undeniable quality. Out of all though, as much as I was impressed with their chocolates, my reason for a future return to the store might be because of the "Pate De Fruit". Their delightfulness hit me like a wrecking ball (LOL)!
