After a nice afternoon sampling wines at Handpicked cellars just 200 yards away, we were looking for a good Italian restaurant to soak up the alcohol. Moreover we were hoping to find a byo place so we can open a bottle of our super find of 2014 Handpicked collection of Yarra valley Pinot. We bought the last 6 bottles!
Unfortunately they said the corkage fee was $50 to open it. So we went with an organic Syrah from Italy.
While the wine at $58 was so so - the food and overall ambience is good. For a Wednesday night - very busy. It's on the second floor - one side is the main restaurant while the other side is an outdoor area for drinks.
They brought us a ricotta foam base with buckwheat and anchovy amuse bouche. We ordered 6 oysters, a calamari that was squid ink flavored and shaped like broad Chinese noodles - big hit, and Arancini.
My dish of sea urchin capellini was excellent. My friends enjoyed their pasta as well.
Dessert was a shared tiramisu - yum.
Ended up around $280 - worth a visit for a special occasion or just a high quality meal read more
