    Vegetarian plank!
    Breanna G.

This was our first time here, we love Jamie Oliver and we're very excited to check this place out! The building and interior is really cool, it's also very loud inside but fun for dinner and drinks after work or casual, not for an intimate date night. The food was delicious ! We got the 'worlds best olives' to start, they were actually very good!, they came as a tapenade and as individual olives. The vegetarian plank was great. We also ordered the 'cannelloni al forno' which was very cheesy but good!, the 'gnocchi genovese' which was very unique and tasty, and the 'spicy sausage pappardelle' which was also great! The portions for the pastas were generous! Service unfortunately was not that great. They didn't seem to quit have the timing down right for serving food and seemed rushed even though it was not very busy.

Tasting board MASTER! Jamie, live his work

My experience at this place was brilliant, I see some mixed reviews but I thought this place was spot on, and for the following reasons; The service was fantastic, from the minute we arrived in peak Friday lunch trade hour where we were put on the wait list, given a buzzer and asked to hold tight. We decided to take our chance and walk down the street for a few drinks while we waited, and to our surprise the buzzer still worked from 50-70 meters away from the restaurant!! In addition a phone call was received from front of house letting us know table was ready. Really slick operation for a place so busy, they could have quite easily have just seen we weren't there and handed our table to one of the many others flocking around the entrance. Once seated the rest was just epic. The waitress knew the menu backwards and was awesomely energetic. She offered great recommendations, and in turn we had a meal that was mixed, interesting and delicious. Perfect! For me though (a tapas addict) the tasting board with selection of meat, cheese and other treats was the highlight, and the way it was presented just added that unique flare that Jamie Oliver is renowned for and seperates this place from the dozens of other Italian cuisine spots in the Sydney CBD. I thought the price was really reasonable also. Can't remember exactly what we paid but I remember walking out thinking 'wow, that's a good price feed!'. The 2 bottles of vino though might of had some impact... In summary, some of the best food news I've heard this year is that the next Jamie's Italian is being set in Perth!! I anticipate being duked within the first week after it's opening ;) HOORAH!

Loved loved this place. This was my first time at Jamie's but I have always wanted to go, I finally got the chance to go and I will be going back for sure! Pretty much every aspect, from service to environment to food was 5 star. I have friends that told me they hated it and the service was terrible blah blah, but they are the kind of friends you don't need in your life. Hands down this place had my wife and I walking out with full tummies and massive smiles. Slow cooked wagu beef tagliatelle (special) , fennel and sausage tagliatelle was what we had as well as the arancini balls for entree and it was fabulous! Dessert was summer fruit Italian jelly and the wife had the epic brownie that she absolute adored! All of the dishes we got were recombined by the waiter, and man he knew what he was talking about!! Great place to have a night out with a few drinks and enjoy the city lights after a unbelievable meal at Jamie's. The only tip I would give though is the portions are not monster sized so if you want to be full.. entree main and dessert is where its at, otherwise you might walk out a little hungry.

I've now been to Jamie's a few times so I feel its a good time to review my overall experiences. First, I'm happy they now take reservations. As awesome as lines are, it certainly pushed back my first visit by a few weeks until ultimately resorting to name dropping. But on the reservations note, don't trust the online system. I used it the other day and it had no availability, but I called and I got right in. Second, is service. Overall I'd say I'm happy. Only one out of the 3 times was it a bit slow during the lunch hour. Without me saying a word, they acknowledged it and offered me a free dessert. It really doesn't take much to make a customer feel valued and they did right by my here. Plus, I got to try the dessert. Starting backwards, I had the JI Epic Brownie. Now, I can do desserts and I don't need to share. But this one is to share. It's just so rich (that's not a bad thing). A brownie drizzled in chocolate sauce, amaretto ice cream (perfect to cut the richness) and caramelized popcorn. What?!?!? I could just have the popcorn on my own, but the saltiness was perfect with the sweet. I admit, I've only really had the pasta. I've had the spicy penne arrabiatta, and it's delicious, albeit lives up to the name spicy. The Vongole Taglioline was light and tasty. My friend had the Bolognese (which he uses as his benchmark for Italian food) and said it was excellent, especially the crunchy breadcrumbs. But oh my, the Wild Rabbit Taglioline. Now I am not one to explore too much with food and I don't think I've ever had Rabbit. So it was nice that the Rabbit was tender and in smaller pieces and really just melted into the mascarpone, lemon and garlic flavorings. Excellent! Would definitely recommend. For sides/antipasti, I've had the famous polenta chips, which were very good, but I'm a sucker for truffle and parmesan so loved the Posh Chips. Overall, definitely worth a visit and I find the prices quite reasonable for a celebrity chef restaurant in an expensive Sydney such as Sydney.

Jamie won my Mother's Day custom with his rough hands and his wet bottom lip (seriously, am I the only one that notices that? It's like Paris Hilton's bung eye that nobody ever seems to mention) and he knocked it clear out of the ballpark and into I'm-now-the-favourite-son-based-on-that-meal-dom. It's a damn cool fitout, long and warm and kind of steampunky, with chandeliers and smoked steel and exposed fittings and such. They dished out a complimentary Bellini for the old girl for Mum's Day but she sent it back from a mocktail. Gonna take a lot more than a bellini to knocked her off the wagon. We ordered: 1. The fish plank ($13.50pp) - wild salmon croquettes with aoli were nice but needed more of a punch and pretty much everything else from the beetroot-cured smoked salmon to the anchovy and mackerel ricotta bruschetta with chilli and caper berry to the mussels and garlic clams to the pecorino with chilli jam was both delicious and faultless. 2. Truffle tagliatelle with portobello mushrooms - ohhhh, dat truffle. Smear it all over me and call me a taxi, quick. 3. Jamie's famous porchetta - for me, the highlight. A giant slice of perfectly rolled and roast pork, sumptuous stuffing, crispy crackling with salty, chewy fat beneath, oh man this was good, not just good but great. The best, actually. I die. 4. Lemon meringue pie with candied lime and crushed pistachios and mint leave and butterscotch dusting. Light, tangy, sweet, fresh, more words that mean things but can't convey to you how well we chose this dessert. Ten pounds of win stuffed into a five pound bag.

4.25 Stars. Had a fantastic solo dinner here on a Friday night, and of course, it was packed! Young, beautiful people is the primary crowd, as is to be expected in the CBD on a weekend night. Even still, it seems like it would make a great night out for a family with older kids, as well. I ordered the special, which was a salad with steak, and it was really special. I wasn't expecting something so delicious at what I thought would be just another trendy Italian joint, but I was pleasantly surprised. My server was exceptional, and I left her a generous tip to acknowledge that fact, which I know caught her by surprise. It was a great evening, and I would definitely come back, especially if I was coming along with a date or a client.

    TAGLIATELLE BOLOGNESE

I was going through reviews and lately people have been disappointed when dining at Jamie's Italian (JI) almost like the time when they learnt that santa does not exist. Unrealistic expectations Unlike most reviewers I don't regard Jamie Oliver as a real chef (made on TV) and thus did not have high expectations of this franchise. My perception of him is that he is a cook that never really made it in the industry but became famous because of his TV shows although he did make cooking "cool" - cooking at home that is. Having a restaurant and serving customers is a relatively new venture for him. Food TAGLIATELLE BOLOGNESE Tried to order pasta as it did say "Our pastas are all made here" and I was right, the pasta was cooked as it should be al dente and the sauce was delicious and the only regret is that I didn't order the main size. (just realised dirty plate lol) WILD TRUFFLE RISOTTO Risotto was pretty good technically but not as memorable as you would expect. SIMPLE BAKED LASAGNE Worst dish of the night. Sauce was bland with hardly any meat on it. Considering the price, this is the one that will push the score down. Pasta sheets without were borderline mushy as well. OUR FAMOUS POLENTA CHIPS Waitress forgot it. When they did come, they were pretty good. I'm a big fan of Parmesan and they did go well together. Service Jamie got famous with he carefree sort of attitude towards cooking, and the staff there adopted the same attitude - carefree. One of the waiters forgot our polenta chips claiming her colleague did not enter it in the system. Long story short, the waitress in charge of our table remedied by bringing the chips five minutes later. That said, that should not have happened, I mean it's only Conclusion Only go if you're a big fan of Jamie Oliver (I don't know why anyone would be). Otherwise nothing ground breaking here, plenty of other restaurants to go to in that price range. I prefer those small family owned Italian places but are so hard to come by in Sydney CBD. With only one dish out of four dishes to come back for, I'll pass. @thesydneynoob

Heard bad things about this restaurant in both London and Sydney, never thought it would happen with myself. My husband and I got there on Monday night around 9:30pm. The host told us that all the tables were full and she would not have anything open during this 45 minute period. So we decided to dine in at the bar table. It seems like a self service as we had to walk over to the bar to order food and drinks. It's really inconvenient given that bartenders also know nothing about the menu. As soon as we got seated, I walked over to the bathrooms which located in the back of the restaurant. Can't believe my eyes but there're plenty of empty seats. Not that they were under reservation or anything because we saw no new people walked in and restaurant would be closed soon. We don't really understand the system here. If you stop seating new customers after a certain time, we understand but just tell us the truth, instead of lying. Now it came to food. I ordered king scallops from fish section, expected that scallops would be giant and came in full size entree but I got 4 regular scallops on the shells that looked more like appetizer. Taste was so so, nothing impressive. My husband ordered burger but they ran out, so he got hanger steak instead. Steak looked nice and well cooked, just under seasoned. House white wine has nice flavor and could be the best thing in this restaurant. Food was quick but mediocre. Service seemed to be disconnected. Given the unfriendly welcome from that host we got we would not come back and recommend it to anyone.

Omg, this turned out to be one of my fav Italian places I have visited in Sydney. Food is so much yummy... service is great and it is just 2min walk away from wynyard station. Loved the ambience... I couldn't find a reason to give anything less than 5 star. Loved it totally.

I went here for dinner and ordered the prawn linguine. The noodles seemed under cooked for my liking. The prawns didn't taste too fresh. I wish the beer prices were listed on the menu. I was shocked at the price for the bottle after I got the bill. Service was good. The server was nice. The restaurant was well decorated.

I visited Jamie's for lunch on a Saturday and was amazed by the great service and delicious food. My waiter was super friendly and more than willing to offer suggestions and explain menu items. I had arancini as a starter, and spaghetti and polenta chips for main. The polenta chips are one of the signature sides and they didn't disappoint. The restaurant was very busy, but the service was still fast. There are a range of drinks available but I really enjoyed the organic strawberry and elderflower soda. Overall, great service, amazing food and a nice vibe - I can't wait to visit again!

Located in the old 'Industrie' space on Pitt Street, Jamie's Italian is a deceptively large restaurant. As you are greeted by the young gentleman at the door you can cast your eye right back to the kitchen on the ground floor. I follow one of the young men up the stairs as I look down on the packed ground floor and I am asked where I would like to sit either on a table overlooking the crowd below or at a bench facing the kitchen. I choose to sit near the kitchen so I get a bird's eye view of food preparation and I tell the waiter I'm ready to order having checked the online menu before my visit, he tells me that Bruno will be with me. I wait for a Bruno and I'm greeted by one of the Managers in less than five minutes who asks if she can take my order. Once ordered I amuse myself my watching the kitchen and what seems like a hundred staff or so running around both floors. It's a hive of activity in Jamie's Italian and its 2:15pm and still very packed. Ten minutes later my Creamy Mozzarella with chili and mint salad ($16.50) arrive as I'm advised to try and mix all the Mozzarella, chili, lemon and mint on the fork together to get the full impact. What great advice this is as my salad is being treated like the greatest dessert I have ever tasted. I am only into my second morsel and the Mussel Linguine ($13.50) awaits my attention it is perfectly spiraled with mussels protruding out of the pasta with the perfect amount of herbs and a tin plate for shells. This dish too is simple and the flavors are perfectly complementary to each other. The portions are just right for a female but I'm wondering if my husband was with me whether he would need a lot more dishes or ask for bigger portions. Completing my meal I desire a coffee however being so late in the afternoon I decide an Affogato ($6.00) for a dessert. It was perfectly simple served on a cute cheeseboard with gift paper, the Expresso was so beautiful so to was the icecream a nice finish to a perfect meal. Verdict: Jamie's Italian uncomplicated quality Italian food with record turn around service and great value for money. Highly recommended.

Jamie's Italian Pitt Street Sydney Australia - good meal and service but not faultless
    Christine W.

Been meaning to try Jamie's Italian for a while but when my dinner date had a craving for Lasagne and the restaurant came up in walking distance from our hotel in The Rocks, Sydney - on Pitt street it was a done deal. I ordered the fish of the day and my pal was disappointed there was no lasagne on the menu (apparently it's been on previous menus) Weird carrots but enjoyable meal for us both in the end and we also selected Jamie's prosecco and Jamie's house white which were Australian wine choices Prices weren't too bad Service was great (not faultless as no drinks order was taken initially, it needs a good dust here and there and toilets were outside of the restaurant for the building - not very clean and without toilet roll) and there's no WIFI
