Not sure a NCAA basketball player could wear those things without needing a hem! With a week left (I procrastinated and also thought I could do it myself -NOPE) I called around to various local tailors to comparison shop. Most were either much too pricey, rude or said they wouldn't be done in time. Finally I spoke with a very nice woman at L & B. She gave me a fair price and asked me to bring the dresses (and the twins) down that afternoon. When we arrived we found on street parking right in front (what luck!). We were greeted with friendly faces and the pinning was done quickly. We were in and out within 10-15 minutes. And the dresses were done in a timely manner and perfectly hemmed. I recently lost a lot of weight and needed to have my suits tailored. It was TOO MUCH to take in for some other, less qualified "Clothing & Apparel" Stores, but not for Susie! She started to explain how she would take some here and there and I stopped her. I don't need to know all your Magic. I just need to know that you CAN do it LOL. I put on my suits one by one and she measured and made her "marks." I left 2 suits with her and let the magic begin. I came a couple weeks later (as I requested) as I was in no rush. Just as promised Susie had them ready to try on. I put each suit on and I could tell how pleased and proud she was with her work. AS WAS I !! Instead of the "Other Stores" trying to sell me new suits, Susie made these come back to life. I can't tell you if it was expensive or not as it doesn't matter. If it can be tailored, I have likely had it tailored. Experience has taught me that the best tailors are older European women who smoke butts. Truth be told: I don't know if Maria smokes butts...but I can tell you that she is an older European woman who is one hell of a tailor!! I have been to see her many times and she is great. In a culture where the word "wedding" automatically doubles or triples the price of everything, it was a welcome relief to find out that I was going to come in under budget on the gown alterations. ***NOTE: I realize that not all bridal gowns are the same, and not all kinds of alterations are priced equally, but I needed a hem job on 15 layers of material and the waist taken in on a very (VERY) fitted gown with a complicated bodice. But whatever. Just giving you a reference point.*** Nancy (it really is Nancy there when you walk in the door) is great. She fitted me, did a refit before any cuts were made, and made sure that the final alterations were as they were supposed to be, all the while being friendly and kind to me and my very special dress. The store isn't large, but there are a selection of formal, semiformal, and bridal gowns through which to browse. The best thing about Nancy was that she didn't put on any airs or make me feel unwelcome in any way, as some bridal boutique owners are apt to do. Nancy had the best price, so I went to her shop. She is very friendly and professional. Not long afterwords, I noticed that an expensive topcoat I had purchased at Building 19(for a great price!) was missing a liner in one of the sleeves. Nancy had a silk fabric on hand that matched almost perfectly, and as it was the liner, I didn't really care. She did a super job and it looks like original work. She does terrific work, for reasonable prices, and I highly recommend her!!!

My original appointment was good, and the owner was nice (originally). I dropped off two dresses, one of which was my wedding gown. (Ignoring the second dress that is now too small) I paid $245 for clear, cheap buttons on my wedding dress bustle (which ended up being uneven and still dragging on one side). I was unaware these are apparently the buttons she uses on ALL wedding gown bustles, regardless of style or color. Upon calling her, the owner argued with me, refused any refund, and said it was unfair of me to go elsewhere without letting her replace them with the same plastic buttons, but black. It would have been a different story if she did not yell at me over the phone when I only requested a PARTIAL refund or matching buttons to be used. I will not be going back, especially due to the owner refusing to take responsibility and blaming me for going elsewhere.
