Had such a great experience today. I ordered takeout for my family. First of all, it's 4th of July and I feel bad that people have to work. Regardless of this (and I am sure they are working with a lighter crew due to the holiday), the girl who was at the register was super friendly and accommodating. i believe the manager was cooking. My food was ready very fast! Couldn't wait until we got home and ate it in the car. Everything was perfect. The Olga sandwich was perfect with just the right amount of ingredients. I was so happy to come home for Christmas and to have Olga's. But it was the worst. Only one waitress. All the tables were dirty. Took forever to order and when the food came the hummus was so bad we could not eat it! I think they forgot the chick peas. It was more like garlic hash and wasn't creamy at all! 30+ years ago, there was an Olga's Kitchen in Northern California (Hayward). We ate there regularly for 5+ years, and were so sad when it closed. They told us it was a chain from Michigan, and I figured that was the end of it. imagine my shock when we saw it on a recent visit to Detroit! and it's EXACTLY the same as I remember from years ago. my beloved three cheese Olga - wonderful to have it again. The salad is still as good, and the regular "Olga" that my husband has was just as great. We were served by Kat, who was great. Attentive, friendly, so nice! I just stopped at this restaurant to get lunch, I came in and the girl came behind the counter looked quite baffled. I said "One for lunch, please." She turned and went into the kitchen. When she came back out, she said "it'll be about five minutes...". The restaurant was empty. Perhaps two tables were sitting down. I said to her "five minutes to get seated?" She replied that yes it would be five minutes before they could see me at one of the multiple empty tables that were in the restaurant. I told her I would take my business elsewhere, and left. Olga's used to be one of my favorite restaurants, however, since Olga died, the quality and service have gone completely to hell. I will not return. read more

Very disappointed in this place. I called to ask if a soup had chicken broth/base since I have a mild allergy. After being on hold the girl on the phone was quick and curt to respond no. Thankfully, it didn't sit right with me so I did more digging and found the correct answer online. Luckily I did my own research and didn't trust someone whose customer service was lacking the second the phone was picked up. Hopefully the staff knows to pay more attention to customer questions about allergies because if someone calls asking about the snackers with a tree nut allergy and is given the wrong information... that could be a huge lawsuit (not to mention deadly). Orderd delivery, arrived on time, but missing 2 of the 3 sampler platter items. Called the restaurant, they say "oops, yep, there still here." Tell me to call Door Dash. DD says "not there problem, call Olgas." In the end I just said not worth the headache, and ate the dinner I never recieved. I've been to this Olga's a few times, and sadly my experience this last visit wasn't the best. There was NO ONE seated, I was the only person in line, but I still had to wait 10+ minutes before someone came from the back to seat me. I understand they were most likely short staffed, but that was still unacceptable. It's not like they were being swamped. Also, my table had not been wiped clean, and looking around at all the other empty tables several were dirty as well. This is probably the closest Olga's to my mom's new home. I suspect I'll be coming here a lot unless all the current road construction prevents me from doing so. It's the biggest Olga's I've been in. Food is just like always. I'm not a fan of their promotional Fiesty flavored three cheese Olga. Give me the traditional any day. And please bring back the original style spinach pie. Tried to get service on a Sunday night one and a half hours before closing time. A room full of staff and the manager claimed they only had one waitress and would not seat is until the only table in the restaurant was done eating and they could clean it. Every other table was empty! They claimed they had mopped the rest of the restaurant and didn't want us to eat on the clean floors! The other table of people were still eating! Thay staff was very rude and condesending. The manager was not willing to accommodate us. We stood there for 15 minutes waiting for the other table to clear, and since they were still eating, we left and went to Buddy's Pizza where we were immediately seated in a crowded restaurant, and had food on the table within 10 minutes by a very friendly waitstaff! read more

Olga's kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants! We always make the trip when we ware in town visiting family. Times are a bit different now but you we were still able to get our Olga's fix with curbside pick-up! First download the app, there are awesome deals and offers and it makes ordering very easy. We placed our order, identified our car and arrived at the time we chose. Our order was brought right out to us and we were back on our way home to enjoy our delicious meal. We ordered large olga sandwiches with extra meat and three sides of snackers, with an orange cream cooler...must have snackers they are life changing. Not impressed with this location. My boyfriend and I both went here mainly for their snackers which were definitely amazing. But we decided to get some pitas as well. I got an Original Olga and he got an Oven Roasted Turkey Club. Both of our Olgas had nothing on them but meat which neither of us requested. I think our waiter accidentally put our orders in as plain but we both wanted all the other good stuff added on. If you plan on going to this location, you might want to clarify that you don't want it plain. But like I said, the snackers were amazing and were unbeatable. read more

This was my first time visiting an Olga's location. The area for this particular location is very busy, so I was surprised to find so few diners inside at noon on a Saturday. First, let's talk food... I had the unwrapped chicken schawarma. The flavor was good! The chicken was a bit over cooked, but that's my only complaint there. My husband had the angus burger and thought it was good, but his curly fries were a bit under cooked. Service... different story. We were barely greeted with more than a grunt when we walked in. The person hosting seems bothered. Many tables were uncleaned, and again, they were not that busy. From what I could see, there were at least 4 people between host and waitstaff. The host was also waiting on tables. Our server was nice, but seemed extremely frazzled. We had to ask for drink refills and my dish came out without the yogurt sauce and it took forever for her to go back and get it. Again, when we were done eating, more waiting for the check. At most, she had maybe 3 other tables. Not a single dish was cleared from our table during our visit and the table beside us sat dirty for our entire meal. I will give Olga's another shot, but I hope the service improves. read more

What a difference just a location makes! I didn't dine in this time but ordered carryout. The service at this location is always good that I know of. For our carry out, everything was packed neatly, with our orders all correct and all the utensils and sauces included. It's such a disappointment when they forget to put something in or if there's an item that spilled out. The food was all delicious. Everything tasted fresh and was still hot by the time I got home. The order consisted of: steak and cheese pita, brisket pita, 2 cups of soup, bowl of soup, snackers basket and zucchini fries. The steak and cheese is my go to sandwich but their new brisket pita was just as delicious! The brisket is a limited time special so it won't be there long. The zucchini fries aren't crispy so if you expect crispy zucchini fries, don't order them. They were still good but not crispy. Overall a great experience and will probably only return to this location. read more

The West Bloomfield location has really gone downhill. The staff is NO where to be found, and when they are, they are mad that you are bothering them. The pickup food location needs a good - cleaning, and NO one is friendly. This used to be a wonderful place for lunch. Visited my family in MI recently and a restaurant that is local to southern MI is Olga's Kitchen... I love to always visit this restaurant when I go back to MI. You could tell this restaurant was understaffed the day we dined here. We ordered appetizers that never arrived... they were extremely slow to arrive to our table to take our order, our food was slow to arrive and we had to ask for everything. Our waitress was very nice and we felt bad for her so we did generously tip... and honestly when we left I it was the first time I saw the manager (up front) -- WHERE WAS SHE OUT ENTIRE MEAL??? Why wasn't she helping our server??? The food once it was delivered was mostly good -- my sandwich was delicious but the fries were cold so I didn't eat them and I didn't tell the waitress cause I probably wouldn't have gotten new fries till I was done with my meal. After a lot of whispering back-and-forth between the 4 wait staff that were working, were told we would have to wait for a table despite there being only one group in the entire restaurant. We stood there for 10 minutes and they told us we would have to wait for the other table to finish and then they would clean the table and we could sit there because they had already mopped the other sections of the restaurant. The other family was clearly still eating. There were 30 other tables in the restaurant and no other patrons. We asked them to reconsider and let us sit at another table and they would not. The manager said she only had one waiter! Not sure what the role of the other girls standing there was but definitely not helping customers. The girls looked us up and down and whispered to each other but honestly we never saw any one of them do anything that looked like working. Of course we left and went elsewhere. Great food, forgetful server: Olga's is probably one of my favorite lunch places in the Oakland County Area. I came here with two friends for a late lunch to celebrate my friend's birthday. The food was fantastic, but when it came near the end of the meal, the service became lackluster. The server forgot to bring my friend a water after he asked for one twice, and once we had the checks even asked him if he would like a water to go to correct the situation. Lastly, the waiter did not leave any pens to sign our checks, thank goodness I had cash on hand to leave a tip. Wow! I got the Mediterokranean plus Olga's salad and Greek fries. ~ Salad was a good size. ~ Sandwich was bigger than expected for a half. Olga bread was a soft pita texture minus a pocket and delicious. The meat was soft and tasty - everything was moist, fresh, and delicious. ~ Fries were awesome too, if only I had room to eat them all. Took them to go for my husband to snack on later tho. He enjoyed them and wanted to know where we went. Happened to remember to check-in on Yelp and found this FREE DESSERT coupon. I showed it to the waitress and she new exactly what it was. I live in a less yelp aware city so I was glad to not have to explain it and also that she didn't even flinch when I showed her the coupon on my phone. We ordered a cinnamon bread pudding to go for my husband. One container plus a couple small separated sauces. They like containers here. My husband loved it. Although I should have known better, I went to this location...after the lunch rush by the way. I sat for 10 minutes... no one approached me about a drink, did not ask 'have you ordered yet?' Waiter decided to clean a table instead. Considering you can't get to the people who are actually waiting to order, what's the point in cleaning the table to allow more people to sit and be ignored too? Please don't reply about what wait staff has to go through. I waited tables, both as wait staff, and when I was management. When the wait staff got slammed, I wasn't 'too important' to temporarily become a server just because my title was manager. When the waist staff had time to take table back, they got the tip. I love Olga's, and have been eating here for as long as I can remember. This was my first time at this particular location, but their food and service is pretty consistent. My mom and I came here for lunch today, and it was delicious as always. We both went with the Original Olga, but my mom got the Broccoli soup and I went with curly fries. The Olga was delicious, and I ate the whole darn thing, as did my mom. She loved her soup, and the snackers were tasty as well. Also, since I checked in on Yelp, we also got a free desert! We had the Birmingham brownie, which came with ice cream, whipped cream and carmel sauce, and tasted delicious! Overall I really like dining here, and over the years their food has always been a staple to me. The service here was wonderful, and I plan on returning in the future.
