Olde Good Things Scranton is store that caters to the 1%. Their materials are overpriced and their service (at least that provided by Kevin) is both dishonest and sucks. I visited Olde Good Things (Scranton) on 8/23/25 looking for old copper gutters. Kevin informed me that at that very time they were disassembling building materials from the State Psychiatric hospital in Harrisburg and showed me photos of the gutters. I agreed they would be perfect and provided him with a materials requirements list. I also asked him for pricing in order to determine how much material to purchase since my project had both essential and optional components. On 8/27 Kevin quoted me "This gauge is heavy vs what's used today - $12.50 per ft on gutters" and "Downspouts $9 a ft" telling me that I could pick them up on 8/30/25 between "Oh 11 - 11:30". When I arrive I find that the gutters have been put out for me but not the downspouts. Kevin remarks "uh there's a problem with the downspouts" but doesn't elaborate while also commenting "I should have quoted you more for the gutters." He takes me to a place in the building where some of the materials for me had been placed but not brought out including 90-degree gutter corners, gutter clips and a host of downspouts. I collect what I need and find Kevin to settle up. At that point he tells me "I'll have to charge you 5 times the cost for those downspouts because they have the green patina we use for other projects". But he says that he's returning to the job site in the following week and will find other downspouts. I assure him I'm interested texting him at Saturday 12:21 "Kevin, if you are able to get me 26' of downspouts and about 20 of the metal clips at the end of the gutter holders then I can make this work. Text me and I'll come pick up the stuff. Thank you" Thrice in the course of the week I text him asking how it is going and assuring him that I'm interested in purchasing. He never responds. Finally on 9/6 I text him "Kevin, it's been a week. Are we still trying to do business together or have you moved on? I'd appreciate the courtesy of a reply. Thank you." To which he responds "Not at this time - if I go back to site I let u know - other gutter material sold." When I query him about this behavour and point out that I'd wasted 1.5 hours driving to his business and another 1.5 hours sorting materials, somehow it all becomes my fault with him texting me "no one to blame but yourself." I love wandering around, hoping some day to have a house worthy of some of these thins--especially the entry doors and stained glass windows. So far that hasn't happened, but a girl can hope. I did go in a while back looking for a specific piece of hardware for my pocket door. The guy who helped me wasn't sure that they had what I was looking for, but he escorted me to the hardware room and told me that I was free to look. After spending over an hour in there I wasn't able to find the piece I was looking for (I was able to see less than half of their collection in that time). But I did find some things I didn't know I needed until I saw them. I will be back--when I have more time. There's simply so much great stuff! read more

We actually went to the Brooks Street warehouse location, but I couldn't find the Yelp listing for it, so here goes! Upon arriving, I was convinced we had come to the wrong place, it was just a giant warehouse in the middle of nowhere, and tiny signs for "customer entrance." We walked up and then saw the "by appointment only" sign. The website (at the time) didn't specify, so we rang the doorbell, hoping we might still be able to take a look around. Thankfully -- someone let us in, and agreed to take us to the two floors that had furniture, as my friend was specifically on a mission to find nightstands. He took us into an old elevator, and mentioned that it's a 1/4 of a million sq ft of antiques (wow!) and it's a true treason trove of things. Luckily, we spotted two nightstands in near perfect condition (just missing a top, which my friend could easily solve for, on her own) for just $150 (yes!). We carried them down, paid via card and took them back with us. Thank you for showing us around sans appointment, and for being so helpful. My friend will treasure her antique find for many many years to come. Hot tip: There were SO many desks in the warehouse. This place was a literal heaven! The guy who was working/ running the place was super friendly and offered to help us with anything and told us to ask any questions. He knew the warehouse up and down and what he had and where it came from. You literally can find anything in here - old chairs, molding, windows, bathroom fixtures, stain glass, doors, tiles- anything under the sun. He told us that a lot of the items from the warehouse come from New York but there is a lot from Philly and the local area as well. A lot of the larger pieces were tagged with prices but smaller odds and ends did not seemed to be tagged. Everything was coded though and unavailable items were clearly marked as sold. They also make custom pieces and from the look of the lot I saw they do a really nice job. This is an awesome place to explore wether you're an interior designer, do it yourself-er or just love anything old. I'm hoping to make another visit, hopefully soon and when it's warmer (it's an old warehouse so it's not heated) and hopefully I can head home with a few good pieces ! Really interesting old stuff, but still mundane enough to be out there in the world, but so absurdly and I mean seriously absurdly overpriced that it will make your eyes water. Sit down. Go to their website first, and look at some of the things they have and you figure out if you think it's worth it. $650 for a wood door? Ooooo, maybe not. Go to craigslist if you're interested in weird good old things because it's all right there in fact I think that's where they get it. Sheesh. read more

Purchased a vintage pinball machine that was described as being in excellent condition. I drove 4 hours to pick up the pinball only to discover it is a non working machine and the wood is completely destroyed by termites. The cord was chopped and it obviously hasn't been used in decades. Everything is extremely overpriced. read more

They have an antique matching web page. They say to take measurements and pictures of the antique you want to match then email them: "Email us at [deleted because I'm guessing URL's are blocked] with the measurements, clear resolution photos, and desired quantity and we will do our best to match it. We are happy to work with you on finding the perfect style or finish in the event that you are open to a new look." I spent a good 2 hours or more unmounting the drawer handle I wanted replaced, finding measuring tape, taking photos with one hand while carefully holding the measuring tape in the other, renaming the photo filenames with descriptions and measurements, resizing and emailing the images, and explaining the details of what I'd like for a replacement. All I get back is some lady who says "ooh yeah I had a look and didn't find that one. Good luck." Uh...ok? Was that really the result of "[doing your] best to match it?" I 100% do not expect you to have an exact match--just something that closely matches the measurements and style. I was definitely open to at least looking into "a new look," as you say you're "happy to work with [customers]" to do on your site. I just felt treated like an annoying check box they had to get rid of. read more

Amazing business...found them at the SF Flower & Garden show and was hard-pressed to make a purchasing decision within 10 minutes. I wanted to take something home, but wasn't sure what. Beautiful salvaged ceiling tiles from old demolished buildings in NYC and PA turned into wall art is what drew me into their booth. The idea of having a piece of history from one of our oldest North American cities is what sold me. I took home two large pieces with a lovely pearlescent blue and silver pattern on them. They also had stunningly huge mirrors with tiles as their frame, metal stars, other metal work and beautiful old doors and iron items. They have shops in NYC, LA, Chicago. Unfortunately nothing close to our home, but they told us they sold to Fleurish, a local shop in Willow Glen, as well as Casa Casa, another shop in WG in San Jose. The gentleman who helped us was amazingly patient with me, even as I spread tiles all across the floor and he even tried to help me make a pattern match with what they had there. If I am ever in any of their areas where their shops are located, better believe I am going to head in. And ship whatever I can home, regardless of price!! OGT sells artifacts from older buildings. Their warehouse is located in Scranton, and to me, it's more of a museum than a shop. "Suzy S." thinks they're overpriced, but guess what - they have the market cornered and can charge whatever they want. Can I afford to shop there, no. But some people can, and some people demand original, authentic, historic or one-of-a-kind items. It's an architectural antique store... and it's expensive. Olde Good Things essentially salvages and sells architectural antiques. If you're looking for old pieces that have been refurbished, repurposed or essentially "prettied" up, this isn't the location for you. This is their warehouse - there's not a lot of light fixtures, there's essentially no HVAC and yes, it's dusty/dirty/be careful where you step kind of place. It's where they store piles upon piles of doors, trim/moulding, furniture, hardware and fixtures and so on that can be purchased as is or will eventually be made to look pretty and re-sold in one of their NYC stores or an a flea market near you. While their finished products are stunning to look at, this place can be just as impressive. Even if you don't end up buying anything, it's interesting to walk through to see what they've accumulated, and if you're lucky, someone may even be able to tell you where they came from. For example, there are these massive steel light fixtures hanging which, if I remember correctly, came from an old section of JFK airport prior to its renovation. But what's really great is this place can be a treasure for people who like to fix things on their own. You can find old and unique metal pieces that - with some work - can be brought back to life. Or, there are stacks of old ceiling tiles already pressed and nailed to varying frame sizes that can be repainted and fitted with a mirror to look just like what you see in home decor stores across the country. I don't know about these crazy posts calling this place a cult or expensive, but I think OGT is pretty amazing. My husband and I are rehabbing our 1904 North Jersey Victorian and needed a resource for all things old but in good condition. Came here on suggestion of This Old House (yes, the PBS one) and was very happy. Doors for our detached garage from 350? All the old hardware you can use? Colin P. thinks this place is a museum, it reminded me of a horror movie. It's just piles and piles, and rows and rows of dusty old junk. I nearly had a panic attack due to claustrophobia and I did have a sneezing fit due to all the dust. That said, they do have some neat old stuff. If I could give them negative stars, I would. I ordered and paid for a custom mirror on January 19th and was told that it would be delivered in 5 weeks. I called after hearing nothing for 7 weeks. This turned into over 3 months of being lied to about the status of my mirror, weird calls at 7am from people who work in the shop about the mirror being the wrong dimensions and actually being asked to figure out how to get the mirror to my home in Chicago because their trucks were gone and they didn't know what to do. I finally spoke to someone in management and they assured me that the mirror would be delivered on a specific date and I would be getting a significant discount. Instead, the night before it was to be delivered, I was told they would not give me a discount and they decided to not deliver the mirror. I am still fighting to get my money back for the mirror I do not have and in having the same appalling experience with 3 different employees, I cannot believe this company is in business. read more

This is the largest collection of salvaged architectural stuff I have ever seen. Truly unique supply of everything you could possibly want. I felt like I was in another country wandering through their warehouse. They are churning out hundreds of tables and wall hangings fabricated by their in house carpenters, I imagine to sell at their upscale retail show rooms. While I would not pay their prices, if you have the money this is your source! Some of their vintage cement building facades etc are truly museum quality treasures. Thank goodness someone is saving this stuff to be repurposed and enjoyed. read more
