It's now been about 4 months since he finished the work and each day I look at our new bathroom and think "wow!' He did a great job! He was patient and always responsive to any questions or issues, and cleaned up each day. Great workmanship too. He started out by measuring and answering any questions we had, offering ideas here and there but letting us make our own decisions. Unlike some other contractors, he did not give fancy 3D architectural renderings, nor did he accompany us to each supplier to pick out products. Here's what his process was, which was perfect for us. We received a proposal contract which listed each item or task, along with a cost allowance for each item. If we chose something more expensive than its allowance, the final price would reflect the increase. If what we chose cost less than the allowance, the final cost would go down by that much. So we had a bottom line price from the start and would have the final decision on expenses. He then also gave us a list of his suggested suppliers from which to pick out all of the products. We worked with those suppliers to make selections at their respective showrooms (they work with TLC regularly), and they forwarded our selections to Terry. A few selections we made were from suppliers not on his list, which was fine, but the places he suggested were where most of the items came from. When all selections were made, he provided us with a revised proposal contract reflecting our selections and revised costs. Then he - not us - did the ordering from each vendor to insure that all of the parts and pieces fit together and would work, plus that way his contractor discount was applied. His final contract to us was transparent and showed all prices. No additional markups, no change order fees, no nonsense. If someone wants computer-generated architectural renderings, having him present at each supplier meeting, one central showroom where every needed product and samples are all in one place, then this type of contractor isn't likely for you. If however, you want a remodeling contractor that not only provides the quote but also does the actual work himself, with reliable suppliers that work with him, with a fair price and a minimal amount of stress (if that's possible lol), then TLC's a good choice. Would we recommend TLC Contracting? If you haven't it already guessed: the answer is absolutely!

PLEASE USE CAUTION: My experience with Espire Homes left me…read morefeeling indignant, frustrated and disappointed. The berating, belittling and gaslighting by the owners was an experience that no one should have to deal with for their first time building a home. Rather than go into in-depth details on issues about the whole process, I just wanted to share insight into one general aspect of our home build. Communication & Customer Service. We had an initial build price but had to deal with various price increases and overages. This is not the issue. The issue is, I simply wanted to know what the cost breakdown was for our house with the additional increases and overages. Once I asked about the overages & cost and requested to see the invoices, the belittling, berating and gaslighting began. Blame was even placed on us for the owner's health issues, among other accusations, due to asking for a cost breakdown.... simply asking to understand/see information that should be openly provided to us. This one aspect of the building experience alone highlights a lack of quality and integrity that one would expect from a home builder when constructing an expensive home. There are other builders who maintain a far higher level of decorum and professionalism. My suggestion as a regretful customer of Espire Homes is to seek out those other builders.

Excited to build our dream home, we signed a contract with Espire in November 2021. We were told our build would take 6-9 months. Initially, our experience with our sales rep was pleasant and responsive. However, after signing, we never experienced the same level responsiveness again and our dream quickly turned into a 34-month+ nightmare that continues. It took Espire 10 months from contract signature to break ground on our property. This was a result of redesigns of our architectural plans and repeated site survey errors - each of which we had to pay for. We ultimately had to work with municipalities and subcontractors ourselves. This highlights significant communication issues within the Espire team - even before shovels hit the dirt. Once construction began, the issues multiplied. We experienced weeks, even months, with no progress on our home. This was while we watched their Parade of Homes and model homes get completed in just 6-10 months, year after year. Espire made the conscious choice to allocate their subcontractors to other jobs to sell homes while our home (along with many others) sat unfinished. Materials were ordered incorrectly multiple times, products were not installed per the manufacturer's specifications, actual constructed items deviated from our plans, and there were even code violations. Our experience didn't stop there. Espire failed to seal the home during construction, allowing birds, bats, and mice to take residence. Our new flooring wasn't protected, resulting in damage from drywall and paint. Poor preparation before painting has left our windows with stains that cannot be removed. Furthermore, we noticed that instead of using spray foam insulation for our windows- as per industry standard and specifications, loose insulation was crammed into some areas while others were left completely uninsulated. This has left our home with drafts, humidity issues, and temperature differences that are not easily regulated and causing energy waste. Our smooth coat drywall issues were so significant their drywaller couldn't resolve them, leading us to hire our own subcontractor to complete the work. There were times when work was halted for weeks or months as they discussed issues internally. After 15 months, our construction loan period expired and converted into a full mortgage. This left us paying two full mortgages for over a year and a half, placing immense financial strain on our family. Despite being fully aware of our situation, the entire Espire team, including owners Daryl and Jenny, showed no urgency in completing our project. If after reading all this, you're still considering building with them, you'll want to know the most disheartening aspect of all is Espire's "customer is wrong" mentality. When we raised concerns, we faced resistance and excuses rather than solutions. We were made to feel "picky," when in fact we were holding them accountable to the contract we both signed and agreed to. After 34 frustrating months, we had no choice but to remove Espire from our project and are still dealing with the aftermath.

Calm and reasonable during the construction process with clients and tradespeople. We loved the 3 D renderings provided so we could see exactly what we were building. Detail oriented, up to date in design and products. Incredibly fair and honest. We had not one problem with our complex and large home renovation, and in the end, money was returned to us per the allowances contract. His accounting seemed impeccable and cost structure fair. In our opinion, it is much better than other contractors we've previously used. I believe before accepting any posted negative reviews, a prospective client should conduct their own due diligence. Contact multiple Rigsby Group clients; call subcontractors for information on construction quality, payment history, working and interpersonal relationships; finally research the history of any customer who filed any kind of complaint. What was the level of construction drawing completion at the start of the project. If they were incomplete, could that have created project problems? Have all the contractors/subcontractors been paid for all work performed when the client was responsible to pay? Have other contractors/subcontractors been fired by the client? Has the client filed or threatened complaints or lawsuits against other contractors or subcontractors? if the answer to any of these questions seems wrong might these be unreasonable clients that no contractor could satisfy? With repeated posts/complaints by or on behalf of one individual, could Shakespeare's "The lady doth protest too much, methinks" apply?

While the initial communication was professional, the final result was disappointing. They subcontracted the work, which I wasn't fully informed about upfront, and the quality of the work clearly reflected that decision. The attention to detail was lacking, and even today, if you closely inspect my home, you can still see the inconsistencies in the work. When I reached out to the company to express my concerns--not only about the aesthetic issues but also about water spots and condensation forming on my ceiling--their response was slow. Jeff quickly dismissed my concerns, suggesting I get a second opinion if I wasn't satisfied with their work or that I could refer to the installation instructions. Upon reading the instructions, I found that their contractor hadn't fully completed the job, which added more items to the list. They agreed to come back to make repairs, but the crew that arrived simply removed most of the tape I had placed and poorly applied globs of caulk around my home. I requested another walk-through of my home, and they sent Jordan out. While he was more pleasant and professional, he was still slow to respond and made me feel as though I was asking too much. As of today, four months after the initial work was completed, they've fixed what they could, applied a lot of caulk, and hope they've found the cause of the leak on my ceiling but have failed to address the condensation that forms down an entire exterior wall. Here's to putting this project behind me, while I'll have to learn to accept the poor workmanship, I'm just hoping I don't encounter issues down the road.

First, the work is completed by subcontractors, and while the quality is great, communication is lacking. Jobs are rushed, and details are overlooked. The second job JA HomeWorx completed was at our rental in Platteville for hail damage. The repairs involved replacing gutters, the roof, and some siding. Again, the quality of their subcontractors was excellent, but details were overlooked. The three main issues were that the window flashing was not the correct color, a gutter was placed incorrectly, and water meters were removed and thrown away. They did give me a credit for the incorrect flashing color and helped the city replace the water meters. The gutter issue wasn't fully resolved, but I accepted their solution after it was moved twice. I have attached pictures. The house did not have a gutter running down the front; their subcontractors installed the gutters without knowledge of where the original ones were located. They did make multiple trips to try and resolve this issue, but this job was rushed, and details were overlooked. Jordan admitted that this job was rushed to get it completed ASAP because we were selling the house. The third job was also for hail damage on a four-unit condo building. The one issue was I was promised that we would schedule the repairs so I could be onsite (I didn't want details overlooked again). I was very frustrated that I was not given any notification that repairs were going to be made and only became aware of them when notified by one of the owners who were home.
